Katherine is forty-two, and one day she finds she has been replaced in her job as an accountant despite all her hard work and success, and so she is hoping to start again, writing a book. We meet her, as she tells us, on 'day one of the rest of my life', at her home in the Cotswolds which she shares with her quirkily named cat, No.4, as she ponders this new and uncertain future. She reads her horoscopes keenly everyday, written by renowned astrologer Mark Ainsley-Thomas, and she's `a Gemini, ful ...more

Katherine Dale finds herself unemployed at the age of 42. Not unusual but Kat has put all her adult life into her work forsaking friends and relationships. Work is all she knows.

This novel was a really good read, featuring well-drawn characters, described to perfection. Crazy Katherine is down on her luck and lives her life according to her horoscope. What she doesn't count on is meeting astrologer James and him making her see stars! At first she sees them for all the wrong reasons but as this story develops so do their feelings for one another.

A delightful story set in a quaint English village with characters you will think you've met before! I loved old Jake and Tom t

This book snuck up on me and caught me by surprise with a big bear hug and wouldn’t let me go. I started reading it, as always, without reading the blurb because I want to go into a review without the preconceptions this can lead to, and I am so pleased I did! I am not the biggest fan of astrology and reading my stars. However, from page one Ms Halton drew me in with the warmth of her writing and the depth of her characters. The storyline twisted and turned and every time I was sure I knew what
When Katherine Dale’s life is turned upside down by losing her job she immediately consults her horoscope to help give her an idea of what do. It is at the same time that Mark Ainsley-Thomas, world renowned astrologer, takes on some help with the daily horoscopes due to his new intense schedule. When James Kingman takes over the daily horoscopes for Mark he doesn’t realize that criticism that will come with it. When Katherine notices her horoscopes start not making as much sense she decides to e ...more

This book grabbed my attention from the very beginning, I love Halton's writing style, she just seems to be able to draw the reader in with ease.

While I may read my horoscopes occasionally I read them with a pinch of salt and when I realised how deeply Katherine relied on her daily horoscope I'll admit that I felt like she may have boarded the train to crazyville, and while in the beginning the astrology may have featured a little heavily compared to the rest of the story, it certainly added an

The Quintessential Gemini, by Linn B. Halton, was a refreshing and original romance tale like none other I've read in a very long time! Linn has an amazing writing voice, so much so you'll feel as if you are taking part in the book yourself. I was totally invested in the story right from the start. I fell in love with all her characters and felt their emotions right along with them at each stage in the novel. It's such a heartfelt tale where everything is crafted perfectly. It reminded me of a g ...more

Katherine Dale finds herself starting a new life after been made redundant. Katherine had been use to working the full-time nine to five routine, and now she finds herself home alone apart from No 4 her cat. Katherine reads her stars everyday by well known astrologer Mark Ainsley-Thomas, finding her life is out of her control, she has come to depend on her stars as guidance in her decision making and looks for and lives her life according to her daily horoscopes.

When her horoscopes seem to go a

This was a fun, quirky story about second chances and how your daily horoscope can lead to finding the one you were meant to be with.

Katherine loses her accounting job, after being deemed redundant by the powers that be. Rather than wallow within the darkened walls of her room, she choses to write a book. Sure she gets sidetracked by romantic comedies on TV, conversations with her mail carrier and her daily horoscope, but she still manages to put forth the effort in writing every day. For someon

The Quintessential Gemini is an uniquely refreshing romance by Linn B. Halton. Her writing is engaging yet feels like you’re visiting and she’s telling you this great story over cocoa. I love that you feel like you’re part of the story, invested in them right from the start.

The Quintessential Gemini is about Katherine, a woman who loses her job thanks to down-sizing, and finds herself virtually lost. She’s also someone that follows her horoscope religiously, but only if it’s by Mark Ainsley-Thom
I was lucky enough to win this eBook from a giveaway on Jera’s Jamboree, I loved the sound of it and was looking forward to getting stuck in especially after reading and enjoying The Restaurant @ The Mill by the same author.

Immediately upon starting this book my mind was filled with questions – Why was it day one of the rest of Katherine’s life? How did she fall over? Why was the cat called No.4? and so on. Obviously I had to find out the answers so I kept on turning those pages and found the ex

“It’s not that I can’t make a decision; it’s more that I’m scared of making the wrong decision.” - Katherine

A friend once gave me an astrology page that was not only about Virgos in general but about Virgos that were born on my birthday. It was SCARY true and described me to a T. Although fascinating, I think it is a little weird to live your life according to a horoscope. Well, I used to think it was crazy until Katherine made it seem perfectly sane.

I loved the storyline and the well developed characters that Linn B Halton portrayed in the Quintessential Gemini. Katherine was so funny throughout. She was just your average woman with feelings running from anger to caring deeply for her friends and so desirous of love, which she didn't even realize until she had fallen. There is a bit of astrological horoscope entwined within the story as Katherine had followed her horoscope through the readings of Mark Ainsley-Thomas for over twenty years. S ...more

The quintessential Gemini is a rare look into the life and mind of a Gemini and her love for the stars, written by the quintessential Gemini herself, Linn B. Halton. The tale is told by the characters themselves and their thoughts flow through you like a conversation with an old friend. As you read you get a glimpse into their deepest thoughts, even if their actions belay them. Laid off tax accountant Katherine Dale is left looking to the stars for guidance, but instead of finding her usual comf ...more

I should start this review by stating that I am not a romance reader. I have very little to compare in that genre. But I do get a fair amount of romance in with my steady YA diet and so I think I must not be totally inept to write this reveiw.

I have one word to sum up everything that makes this book a to-read pick: voice. The voice of main character Katherine Dale is unforgettable. Voice is one of those qualities that can't be taught. You either have it or you don't. Halton proves she has the c

What a lovely story! Reading this novel is like sitting down with an old friend and catching up on life. And it was such a pleasant chat! :)

Katherine Dale is a woman who has always lived her life in a well though out, pragmatic and sensible way. She has devoted her life to work - as an accountant - and it has always worked well for her. Now she suddenly finds herself having to forge a new life. She's been made redundant (laid off for non-Brits) and it's thrown her into a bit of a tailspin. You s

When I read the premise of this book - the story of a woman who lives her life according to her horoscope - I was already enthralled by it. I'm not a Gemini myself but I do like to read my horoscope and so I couldn't wait to download this story to my Kindle. This is about what happens when the heroine Katherine's life hits a crisis point and her daily horoscope no longer `fits' with the events in her life. She then finds out that her horoscope is no longer being written by her astrological hero, ...more

Tops in Chick lit
Chick lit isn't one of my favorite genres, but I tried (and found that I liked) Quintessential Gemini. In this instance, the author has avoided the "frantic cuteness" and overdone attempts at humor that pervade much of the genre. I liked that the heroine was a bit older, that the characters had flaws, but managed to live good lives anyway. I liked the setting of small town England. I liked that the actions and relationships were "normal" with a few unexpected but realistic twist

I can't believe I haven't left a review for this book yet. It was fabulous! I loved it. Katherine was charming and sincere and I wished she were real so we could be friends.
Linn did a great job of making Katerine come across as a little insecure and clumsy, but she also managed to make Katerine shine when she needed to. She had a way of winning people over without really trying.
James came across as very sincere and likeable. He really finds himself in this story and you will enjoy rooting for

This is a surprising book! At first I really did NOT like Katherine. I was at a loss...I've never had that before. How can I not like one of the main people of a novel?? Then I read on....ok...she's not SO the end I found myself cheering her on & found that I didn't hate her at all. Maybe being a Gemini myself I was appalled that someone with my own Zodiac sign could be so self centered...but in the end it came down to a matter of perspective.

Bottom line....I DID like this book ve

As a Gemini, the title of this book immediately appealed, but anyone even remotely interested in astrology will enjoy it, I'm sure! Told from the different perspectives of various characters (except No. 4 who only talks Cat), this lovely, heartwarming story takes us from the cozy Cotswolds to the glitz of L.A.

I connected with the characters - and No. 4 really is a delight - and even with a couple of the elements of the plot (the shift from redundancy to writer!)

A very enjoyable and easy read, a
This is now the 5th book of Linn's that I've read and I am so hooked on her style of writing. I am primarily a serial killer/detective reader and not much into romance books. However, because Linn weaves in her beliefs in the afterlife and astrology, it makes for a much more interesting kind of book. I am so glad I listened to my friend Carol Wyer's recommendation to read Linn's book, Never Alone. It didn't disappoint and with all Linn's books, I can't put them down!
Thank to goodreads for giving me the chance to review this book by giving me a Free copy!!

This is another love book, there a so many, but this one is a little different. First it is well written, second its not just about lve but about changing our life. Like i said in a previoous review, not my favorite kind of book but if your a ran of the genre, i think you would definetly love that one so i recommend it to you without hesitate,

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. A perfect beach read or afternoon in the garden with glass of wine. The characters are believable, and likeable. The premise of someone trying to live their lives according to their daily horoscope works well and as always the author's clever way of climbing right into the minds of her characters makes this a book a joy to read and one I couldn't put down.

I really just could not get into this one. Maybe it's because I have a lot going on right now, but I couldn't connect with the characters or story. Flipping back and forth between three characters lives was just too much for me to handle right now. I plan to put it on the shelf and give it another go at a later date.
