Dorina Basarab is a dhampir—half-human, half-vampire. Subject to uncontrollable rages, most dhampirs live very short, very violent lives. But so far, Dory has managed to maintain her sanity by unleashing her anger on those demons and vampires who deserve killing...

Dory is used to fighting hard and nasty. So when she wakes up in a strange scientific lab with a strange man s...more

Dory wakes up in a lab with no idea of who she is or where she is with a red headed vampire crashing in saying he is trying to save her. But that is least of Dory's problems, with the Fey plotting and the vampires scheming Dory may just be facing an enemy she can't defeat.

I have been waiting for this book for so long! The Dorina Basarab series has definitely become one of the my favourite urban fantasy's. Packed full of manic action that gets your adrenal glands pumping, interspersed with funny,...more

You know when you have a friend who just loves to tell stories? Who has the habit of including lots of info, explaining a lot of detail, and pretty much makes detouring into an art? Whose stories are entertaining as hell, but sometimes you just can't help wishing she'd get to the point already?
Well, Karen Chance is that friend.

There is a lot going on in this book. Which is usual for a Chance story, but this book seemed even more action packed and chaotic than normal.

The Dorina Basarab series is a spin off from the Cassandra Palmer series and I’m a huge fan of both. They are both unique and exciting in their own way. But, Fury’s Kiss just blew me out of the water and is now my most favorite book in both series so far!

Fury’s Kiss is an incredible mix of explosive action, mystery, humor, and lots of personal changes for Dorina Basarab. The mystery was twisty and kept me in sus...more

It was sometimes good, sometimes really confusing. Cassie and dory's meeting was hilarious :D I wonder she figured out she was mircea's daughter? stupid bitch cassie :S

Yine karen chance standartında bir kitaptı. yazar louis sezarı (böylesi daha kolay :P) başlarda konu mankeni seks aracı gibi kullandı ama sonrasında önemli birkaç rol vermeyi akıl etmişte sinirim yatıştı dory sürekli hengamedeydi. kaç kere öldü...more

Dory is determined to help the Senate uncover the truth behind the murders of several powerful vampires that she was working with in what should have been a simple mission. As the only survivor, Dory is key to the investigation. However, Dory doesn't remember what happened, so she must risk her life to retrieve her memories and stop any further deaths.

Damn, I love this series! :)

Fury's Kiss starts off with a bang, throwing us straight into the action. Dory is in a dhampir rage and is unable to separate friend from foe. The next morning, she wakes up, back at home and covered in the evidence of a fight, with no clear memory of what happened. Before she has time to figure anything out, she receives a visit from Mircea, Radu and the vampire spymaster, Kit Marlowe, who are all full of questions and, in Marlowe's case, suspicions. It seems Dory w...more

I was so excited when I found out Dory was getting another book. She and Lia are my favorites in Chance's world. I have read Dorina 1 and 2 too many times to count, and whenever the wait seems too long, I go read the first 2 chapters for #3 (is it possible to wear out a website?) 29 days to Dory!!....It's here! It's here! This is better than Christmas!!...I apologize in advance because there is no way my review of Fury's Kiss is not going to enter the realms of fan girl squealing. I am at pg.59...more

Dory ile Dorina (Senin va...more

Don't fear the Damphir.

Ahh, so good to be back in this world! There are a select few urban fantasy authors that really take their worldbuilding seriously, and probably none quite as seriously as Ms. Chance. She knows her vampire lore inside and out, and is steadily increasing the intricate layering of her fey mythology as well, both within this, the spin-off, and the main Cassandra Palmer series. And it's fabulous stuff, let me tell you.

Well... That was... Intriguing!Brilliant! and FUN!

Being more of a Cassandra Palmer fan, I have to admit that Fury's Kiss definitely raised my esteem for Dory. I've read the first 2 novels, which were Great, but for me, not quite as enjoyable as the Cassie Novels.

Fury's Kiss, however, Definitely rates right up there!
Its a fantastic world to disappear into at the end of the day, with characters that are so layered and unpredictable, you can't help but either love or despise them! Not to mention an...more

This was definitely the best book from the Dorina Basarab series yet! I love the way Karen Chance builds her worlds (slowly, gently and almost lovingly) and how she portrays her characters exactly in a way that make them seem as real as your irl friends!

I have to admit that I like the Cassandra Palmer series a tad bit more (because Pritkin), but I have to admit that Louis-Cesare is slowly winning me over as is Dory's sass. He is exactly right for Dory (and Dorina) and is exactly the kind of her...more

4.5 out of 5 rating.

Fury’s Kiss is the third full-length novel in the Dorina Basarab series, a spin-off of Karen Chance’s Cassie Palmer series. Dory is a half-human, half-vampire known as a dhampir. By nature dhampirs are enemy to vampires, entering a killing rage and exterminating all vampires in the vicinity when given the chance. For that reason vampires generally kill dhamphirs on sight. It’s unusual for one as old as Dory to still exist; even more unusual is that she is working with the vam...more

I am a big fan of Karen Chance's Cassie Palmer series, but ever since the introduction of Dorina Basarab in the Midnight's Daughter series, Dory has been surging ahead. The dhampir daughter of Mircea Basarab (from Cassie Palmer)and a human mother, Dory is hated and feared by the vampire community. She is a vampire slayer, but as she says, only kills the vampires who need killing. She also is subject to black-out periods of intense rage and wholesale killing when her vampire half takes over. Dory...more

Recommended! Fury's Kiss was a great continuation to the Dorina Basarab series. The book not only revealed more insight into Dory's history, but also added significant depth to the main characters in the series' magical world. Rather than glossing over the details (a cop-out move), Karen Chance took the time (a much appreciated effort) to explain some of the metaphysics involved in her plotline, such as the ley lines and Dory's dhampir nature. As always, Dory proved herself to be a strong and in...more

Fury’s Kiss is the third book in Karen Chance’s Dorina Basarab series and therefore this review may contain spoilers for the previous books. It is also set in the same universe as the Cassie Palmer series and shares some characters so they are really best read together (and in order).

When Dory wakes up in a strange lab, she has no memory of who she is but she knows one thing; she is a dhampir, half vampire, half human and her mission in life is to kill vampires. So when there’s one standing over...more

Karen Chance simply gets better and better as a writer. This book is the best thing she's ever written (and I thought her last book, Hunt the Moon, was her best too).

The books clock in at 536 pages, and none of it feels like padding or filler. Everything builds toward a conclusion that I never saw coming in a million years (though thankfully no cliffhanger ending!) The pacing of the book is perfect too. It doesn't quite have the frantic, rollercoaster-ride feel of some of the Cassie books, but i...more

Amazing! Without a doubt, Karen Chance has delivered her magnum opus with Fury’s Kiss. My ARC was composed of 536 pages of non-stop action, multiple complex story lines, and thrilling romance. The book is massive. None of it is filler. It could have easily been divided into two smaller books. It is to Chance’s credit and of course her publisher, Signet, that she did not shy away from the magnitude of this project.

Chance writes with a skill level that is rarely challenged in this genre. Intense,...more

Karen Chance once again blows me away with her incredible writing. I absolutely adore her Cassie Palmer series and her Dorina Basarab books keep me going in between the dry spells. I devoured this book in almost one sitting, getting caught up in Karen's usual fast-paced, captivating, action-filled and downright bad-ass characters and plot line.

We finally get so many answers to so many questions about Dory! Things become clearer and yet still leave me dying to know more. There was so much confus...more

I almost wanted to check this as a comedy for the first chapter of the story which was just ... I had to listen to it several times to confirm what I heard.

Anyway as usual great outrageous Dory and Ray comedy routines. They are up in blood and gore but still talking in that warped humor. I love it. I don't think it's for everyone but it really just tickle my bones and makes it oh-so-much joy to listen to.

I really have to reread Cassandara series and catch up.

There are some things you are guaranteed when reading a Karen Chance novel. There's going to be plenty of action, awesome side characters, witty dialogue and a scorching romance (where your screaming at the characters to "get together already!") Fury's Kiss had all that and more. And it was the more that surprised me. I wasn't prepared to feel so emotional whilst reading this. There was a large focus on Dory's relationship with her father Mircea (to say their relationship is rocky is an understa...more

A great read; fast paced and with Chance's trademark style whereby you read 20 pages and 'Think what the hell just happened there?', but all in all very satisfying. I normally prefer the Cassie Palmer books to those featuring Dory, which to date have been high on action and lower on humour, but this one gets the balance just right. There is a hilarious shopping scene in the first half of the book with Dory and a minor character; and Dory/Dorina seem to be able to pull out humour from a range of...more

This was a long book, with a long look into Dory's life and her memory lapses in her bouts of rage. Dorina is the daughter of Mircea the brother of the Vlad Dracula, niece to Radu, another brother of Vlad. She is the only known living dhampir, half human, half vampire. Because of the ability to kill vampires and the tendencies to go insane and go berserker on the vampires, dhampires are usually killed on site. But because Dory has such a high ranking father, she has merely been treated as less t...more

A good, long book with lots of character growth and background revelations.
I was most pleased with the progression of Dory and Louis-Cesare's relationship. I was pleased to see Mircea's early relationship with Dory described (how sweet!). The biggest surprise was The Consul's decision about what to do with Dory. That was completely unexpected and quite clever. I see the story arc for Cassie and Dory starting to converge.

I saw on Karen Chance's website (the timeline between the Cassie books and the Dorina books) that she's always viewed the two series as one. I hadn't felt that way until this book. I think some of that is due to the fact that the I had to re-read certain parts to understand what was happening. That's a somewhat common occurrence in Cassie's books, mostly during the time travel sections. In Fury's Kiss, there were a couple of italicized portions, scenes occurring in Dory's mind, flashbacks and lo...more

Karen Chance is the author of two New York Times bestselling series, plus a number of novellas and short stories, all set in the Cassandra Palmer universe. A full-time writer since 2008, she was previously a university history teacher, which comes in handy when writing the time-travel aspect of Cassie’s crazy adventures. She loves Las Vegas, the main setting for her novels, but currently lives in...more
