Plot twist extravaganza! I feel like I'm watching Rocky and Bullwinkle, and the Rocky just popped up and said "And now for something completely different..." So now Light is truly no longer Kira, there are 8 business men, one of whom is now Kira, killing off competitors, we have a snazzy new base of operations, and all the rules have changed! I wonder where Ryuk has disappeared to, and if he plans to dig up Light's death note and drop it someplace else. I kind of missed the battle of

I'm really loving the Deathnote series but this one I have to say, wasn't the best. I still liked it but it wasn't my complete favourite of the series.
There was a lot of patches where I got a little bored. There were a couple of interesting parts but overall it wasn't as exciting or suspensful as I would've liked.
Still I will continue to read the Deathnote series because overall it is pretty good. Part of the story line at the moment is very interesting. I'm curious to kn More...

Talk about intense DRAMA! All these twists and turns, just keeping up without dwelling on the previous sentence is just impossible! Soo much happens on such few pages, surely would keep any reader on the edge and off their seat trying to grasp the new ideas and thoughts while absorbing previous ones :)
Demotivated L just doesn’t do it for me, but all the more exciting to read on to see how he may cheer up :) Little gutted when my favourite scenes from the anime don’t match the manga “ More...

The fifth volume in the Death Note manga series mostly revolves around the now innocent Misa and Light becoming part of the task force, and helping L catch what is referred to as the 'new' Kira. Secret agents, blackmailing, and stupid Matsuda all show up to help.
I didn't care for this volume when I started reading it. Light isn't technically Kira at this time, and acts more like a sort-of L, with a crazy need for justice against the evil crimes of Kira. I really missed his epic craz More...

I just finished this book and so far the series is really good because kira, light yagami, met the 2nd Kira, misa misa, and now kira is getting close to kill ryuzaki and the other people that stand that stands in his way. And now he and misa misa are going to get replaced by a another kira which is part of the eight people in the get kira association I predict at the end of the next book or the next volume after that Light is going to kill the new kira and all the eight people of the Kira

I normally enjoy the Death Note series- the plot seems to just get richer and richer as the series progresses, and the characters themselves are very interesting. However, I cannot say that I enjoyed this volume as much as I normally enjoy this series- this volume took me forever to read, and it dragged for the most part. Luckily, there were still some good parts, but those weren't enough to make me give it a higher rating. The Yotsuba group seemed to ruin this volume for me. :(. I will continue

Cover Review
Way better than the last one. I don't have to stare at Misa. Thank god. Love it, wish Light wasn't there though.

Epic battle between pretty-boy criminal and insomniac detective, what more could you want?

Overall Rating: A++
Synopsis: A psychological/supernatural thriller created by writer Tsugumi Ohba and illustrator Takeshi Obata, Death Note follows a high school student, Light Yagami, who discovers the notebook of a shinigami that allows him to kill anyone by writing the victim's name while picturing his or her face. Light's goal is to create and lead a world cleansed of evil using the book, but where is the line between an honorable goal, and mass murder?

In another strong volume, [author Tsugumi Ohba:] takes the power out of Kira's hands and puts the unwitting protagonist on his own, and some intriguing others', pursuit.
While the new villains lack something in character, the value comes in both L and Light's character development as a true crime fighting team. The two work off each other, at times unknowingly, to develop a response to the new killers. Clever and entertaining with intelligent characters who actually behave intelligen

Only three stars for this volume because I think Light's voluntary memory wipe is a total cop-out...although to be honest, I didn't see many other ways to extend the plot without putting Light-as-Kira to rest for awhile and transferring the power to kill to another character.
Otherwise, the series remains enjoyable, even though Misa drives me nuts.

I've been really enjoying this series, esp. the cat & mouse chase between Light and L. Unfortunately, the tone of the series changes with the events that precede this Volume and while still good, it hasn't had the same feel as the previous 4 volumes. Hopefully things get back on track soon and the battle of wits will continue.

It's clear that the anime was a good adaptation of the manga, but that stands for the good parts as well as the bad. I never really liked the part where Light isn't Kira, because it's all dialogue and business men, etc., which is a bit of a wade in either format. However, this book still retains the style of the previous ones... I just want Ryuk back!

I am addicted~ kept dreaming about it last night. a little different from the shonen mold in a good way! school didn't have no. 4 How did L put Light in prison. I missed Misa and Light meating. How did he exucute his plan and will Misa mess it up. skiping a vol makes a lot of intersting Q.

With the introduction of yet another cast of characters, the story line has been redeemed for the time being. This portion of the overall story pushed back in the direction of the first volume of the series - that is, this volume explored the potential uses of the Death Note.
On the other side of the equation, in the last several volumes the initial "serious" tone has been intermittently interrupted with one character or another acting in a goofy manner. Perhaps this is done f More...

Although still good, I think this was my least favorite so far in the series. The story line drastically changed in this one and I wasn't crazy about how it developed, but looking forward to see how it works out for the next book.

Number five, yay! I swear, I went though these books so fast they are all morphed into one. Don't blame me, they are basically just pictures with captions, the only hard part is reading backwards at first, then you get the hang of it.

this book was so cool when the part that lught thought that his dad was good to kill him i was so surpised about that i was going to get mad but then light was still alive when the dad plull the trigger on the gun.

Every time I think I am about to drop this series, "they pull me back in." This volume was a bit more fleshed out. I felt the tension was a bit more real. I hope that this is a sign of things to come.

Started off with a great twist, unfortunately this twist lead to a rather dull story arc. I just hope it doesn't last too far into volume 6 or I may lose interest in this series I've been loving so much.

Okay, this one really confused me. Suddenly a new arc begins! Light is a good guy kind of. L is confused. Therefore, I have every right to be as well.
Hopefully we figure out what the hell is going on soon.

I watched the movies first and loved them. I haven't had the opportunity to watch the anime, but I'm reading the few volumes of the manga which are available to me and loving them as well on their own merit. I am glad that the movies and manga can differ so much and yet I enjoy both equally. It is rare that the love of something in one medium doesn't create a prejudice against any translations into different mediums.

Light's dad and L was suspecting him of being Kira. They have already took him and Misa to confinement and did an act of trying to kill his son for Misa to spoil out who is Kira.

Very good. Sometimes this series in the first few volumes felt a little forced. This seems to be happening less and less. Some nice twists that make it interesting.

Too much talking, for one- and I really didn't like the Yotsuba plot thread at all. I thought it distracted unnecessarily from the main characters and storyline through volume 4.

Don't really like the direction of where the story line is headed... this is also the point at which I stopped watching the anime. Curious to see where it goes..

I like this series a lot, but this volume didn't do a lot for me. I got a little bored with the corporate Kira plotline. Also, can we have some competent females in the series, please?
