SHADOW OF THE WOLF is a modern story of a wizard Christopher Beckett who casts a spell to bring him a mate. He also happens to be cursed as a werewolf due to his ancestor’s misbehavior in jilting a witch. So, to grant the desire of the wolf form, he must find a mate who’s willing to accept the wolf in him. And to aid him in selecting his mate, his wish list includes: she must be of a lineage as old as his own. Bonus if she’s a beauty.

And then here comes Allanah Evans who, as it seems got stuck i...more

Witches, wizards, warlocks and wolves … oh, my! Yes, what an interesting read “Shadow of the Wolf” was. It had a little bit of everything and a whole lot of fun.

Christopher Beckett is the middle son. He’s restless and knows that it’s time to call his mate to complete himself. He is a wizard whose line was cursed by a witch turning them into werewolves. He and his family have embraced the wolf side and have learned to live with both magic and the wolf. He...more

*Cringe* I didn't knooow that there was so much sex in it:L but other than tthaat it was okaay:)

Bell has created another fantastic world in Shadow of the Wolf. It's a story about witches but with a unique twist. Christopher Beckett is a wizard from a family cursed to live as werewolves. Because of the curse the Beckett's have only one true mate and Chris has gotten to the point where he needs to call his. What he gets is a spunky witch who has a bigger problem with him being a wizard than a werewolf.

This is an interesting story where witches, wizards and warlocks don't like each other and...more

Uhhh certainly didn’t expect the story I read. I love the cover; it’s hot with that very very gorgeous guy!! I liked the book, I had a few laugh out loud moments. I loved that is was about twenty something people who had actually work and not going to school. It made the whole book more mature.. A lot more mature actually with all the hot sex scenes! Didn’t see that one coming! I loved that it wasn’t about love at first sight and that Lana was kind of hard to get for Chris. It’s written in Lana’...more

Do not get me wrong, it was really good, so why 2.5?

It lacked so much, I felt like everything fit, the puzzle was not complete.

It was a lot of great could become a 4th, but something was strange, wrong ...

and even if I read it in one reading, I was restless and lost interest lot of times, it imprisoned me.

And it's so weird because I really want to love the book, for there is something that is great in it ... but no
love-hate? ... perhaps more just a flat love

For the characters in the book is so g...more

As with the rest of Dana Marie Bell's books, I greatly enjoyed Shadow of the Wolf. The way she painted the differences between witches, wizards, and warlocks was interesting and a bit different. The Beckett and Evans families were easy to relate to because, despite their magic, they are pretty much like most families and many of the members and their interactions made me chuckle, particularly anything involving the matriarchs of the two families.

This is the second series that I've read by Dana Marie Bell and I have to say I wasn't disappointed. The story is full of humorous dialogue and the chemistry between Christopher and Alannah is HOT!! I love that Ms. Bell made Christopher work in order to get Alannah attention. It wasn't love at first sight, but hey it worked for me.

Christopher Beckett is not only a werewolf but a Wizard. Tired of being alone he cast a spell to find his one true mate, but when he finds her she is not who you expec...more

This was the first Dana Marie Bell book I've read and I'm definitely a fan now. I love an intelligent alpha hero and a spunky heroine. The repartee between the two had me giggly. The cast was large, but well-fleshed--exactly what I look for in series world building. The setting was relatable and well-described.

This was a very sexy book with the just the right balance of plot and heat. I'm looking forward to book 2, and fortunately I don't have to wait too long for it.

This was an ok start to a new series, but I think it would have been better had it been longer. I liked how Chris and Lana were with each other, the teasing qualities were there from the start. I loved how Lana kept up with all the dog/wolf jokes. I wish that there had been more with their families and witches and wizards and how they are set in the world of the book.

With the ending I am intrigued to see where things go from here.

... Alannah Evans, a powerful witch of the Evans coven...

Heh. That's funny. 'Cause I, too, am a powerful witch of the Evans coven, dontcha know.

...Alannah Kelly Evans, a powerful witch of the Evans coven...

You see? If it's written on Goodreads, it must be true.

What I like best about Bell's stories is that the characters never seem to play coy. The accept their attraction to each other and the realization that something else may grow out of it. I am so tired of reading books where the main characters "hate" each other but "hate" themselves more for feeling attracted to someone they shouldn't.

This book was interesting for the simple fact that I have never read a book where the wolf was a wizard too. They usually have a wolf dating a witch but never doing spells too. Very interesting. Quick read. I finished in a matter of 2 days. Would have finished sooner if I didn't have to write a paper but got it done none the less. I liked it.

Great start to a new series! Dana Marie Bell is quickly becoming a favorite werewolf author of mine, and a must-buy author. This was also a nice change because the focus was actually on witches/warlocks rather than being a werewolf book. Can't wait to read more about the Beckett brothers!
Erin
well. Strong mythology that gives a good foundation for more books. Sadly, the hero and his brothers and his family insulted the heroine too much for my liking. I couldn't read one more BUT YOU"RE JUST A WITCH! WITCHES AREN'T THAT POWERFUL BLAH BLAH BLAH.

Christopher is a shapeshift who cast a spell in order to lure his mate to him. He has a certain idea about how his mate should be - but when he meets Lana she is the opposite of what he expects. This was a very funny read and enjoyable.

Enjoyable tale of romance involving witches, wizards, werewolves, magic spells, beige Volkswagen bugs, and even a cameo appearance by a demon. Humorous dialogue and and interesting plot make up for the somewhat light character development.

I really got into this family and liked the characters. Funny and snarky conversations. Good world building and I want to read more. Thought the main characters moved really really fast into their physical relationship but it sure was hot!

This is a polished up re-release, but I didn't read it in its previous incarnation. I am a big Bell fangirl, but I thought Shadow of the Wolf was a lot funnier than her other books. I adored Lana's feistiness. This book's plot is basically based on Fated Mate Syndrome, but Lana didn't just be like 'Yay, man!' Chris had to work for it.

I'm really looking forward to the next book, Hecate's Own (Zach's story). However, I would have liked to seen a smidge more world-building. I didn't feel like the...more

3,5 stars for this one

it was a nice read but not special. I like hot sex scenes but sometimes I had the feeling there was more emphasis on sex than on building a relationship.
I liked the characters although there could have been a bit more ... they were a little bit one-dimensional.
Zach was one exception and I am looking forward to his book

so, if you want a nice suspensful paranormal romance this is a good possibility

Not too bad I guess. Storyline was okay but the sex scenes were a little much...
Sex is okay in a story but there is a limit as to how much I can take before it gets old and boring.

Dana Marie Bell does it again & does not disappoint. Already counting down until the next one in the series is released. I could not put the book down.

This is my favorite book by Ms Bell. It is full of humor, love, passion, and lots of magic. Can't wait for the next book in the series :-)

Dana Marie Bell wrote her first short story when she was thirteen years old. She attended the High School for Creative and Performing Arts for creative writing, where freedom of expression was the order of the day. When her parents moved out of the city and placed her in a Catholic high school for her senior year she tried desperately to get away, but the nuns held fast, and she graduated with hon...more
