Okay is it just me or are the representations of women in this particular volume SO SCREWED UP? Girls are not as smart. Girls always need saving. Girls make good pawns if you happen to have a notebook that can KILL PEOPLE and need something to distract the police from suspecting you. (I can't tell you HOW MANY DATES I've been on for that reason. All you fellas out there and your notebooks of death.) I had thought it might have been my imagination before, but this couldn't be more stereotypical o

So... my first Death Note manga and I loved it. The plot for this series is just absolutely mind-blowing. I can't even fathom how one could think up such a wonderful idea.
And... it's 9:00 AM now and I still haven't fallen asleep, so I'm just going to blame sleep deprivation for any delusions/typos/etc. in this review. Fantastic book.

So much happened in this volume! Every time I read, I pick up new nuances. I think on some level Light really does long for a boring life of school, friends and a girlfriend, otherwise I doubt he would find himself so tempted by the prospect. The proof is in his pep talk to himself about not developing feelings for Misa and his sudden reluctance to have Rem kill L. I think this may be a case of 'the grass is always greener on the other side' and 'too smart for your own good'. Light wants what

The fourth volume in the Death Note manga series mostly deals with the meeting and exchange of information between the new Kira, Misa and Light as well as their shinigami. Light's plan to kill L is ruined when L thinks a little too much ahead, and Misa along with the power of her eyes is arrested and held in custody. Light then turns himself in to the dismay of his father, in an attempt to prove himself innocent by pretending to be scared to be subconsciously Kira.

Having watched the anime before the manga, i wouldn’t have thought i’d be this drawn to the manga as i am, this just gets better, although i know what will happen, i still continue to read, cause its still exciting and makes me tingle with delight and amazement :)
Little disappointed my Favourite scene wasn’t illustrated in the managa; without giving anything away, am sure those of you that have watched the anime! Know what am referring to when i say ‘L swinging his arms in the air More...

It's not like there's anything new happening at this point, is there? L thinks Light might be Kira, Light is Kira but has a brilliantly convoluted plan to convince L that he's not Kira, Light's father spends a lot of time wearing suits and looking shocked, so on and so forth.

Yet another truly amazing volume in the Death Note series. I read this one in no time because it's one manga that you just have to keep turning the page to find out what's going on. So many parts of this book had me sitting on the edge of my seat wondering what is going to happen next.
As far as characters go I think Ryuk is pretty cool, Light is a cool character too. L has me on the edge of my seat, wondering what he was going to do next. I have to say that Misa is annoying, I do More...

i chose to read this book because my friend had read the actual book and told me it was really good so i decided to read the graphic novel and i also hope to read the full story.
this fits into graphic novel
i really like the idea of a book , and when your name is written in it you will die . I also got a bit confused when i was reading this book because it is a Japanese book and you had to read it from back to front and i got a bit lost on witch order to read the text in . More...

Misa. If you look in the dictionary, she is the definition of stupid.
Or Idiot, take your pick :P
So, another Death Note gone, <spoiler>and L's death is getting ever so closer....T-T</spoiler> and I've been left with mixed feelings for this book.
For me, it seemed like it ended to fast(partly because I have to order it through the Libraries and that takes a week at least), and it was, once again, filled with Light's rants and inner monologues.

Overall Rating: A++
Synopsis: A psychological/supernatural thriller created by writer Tsugumi Ohba and illustrator Takeshi Obata, Death Note follows a high school student, Light Yagami, who discovers the notebook of a shinigami that allows him to kill anyone by writing the victim's name while picturing his or her face. Light's goal is to create and lead a world cleansed of evil using the book, but where is the line between an honorable goal, and mass murder?

The relationships are one-dimensional, the characterization is flimsy, the philosophy has that faux depth common to manga, talking heads often drone on for page after page, and the female characters are absolutely horrible. Why am I still reading this? Only for the brilliant concept, the incorrigibly single-minded character of Light, and the occasionally interesting plot twist. Oh, and Takeshi Obata is a rather good artist, especially considering all the talking heads he has to make look interes

In this Death Note book both kira's meet together and Light find out the Kira's a girl and the knows everything about Light but Light thinks the second Kira is a fake but proves that she is not a fake when at least under a minute on the news a man died of a heartattack out of nowhere so when Light saw that the second Kira was not fake and Light use's the second Kira for their DeathNote.

I started off reading this book very excited but the ending really killed it for me. So much was going on, Light was having to deal with the new girl who also has a shinigami while getting closer to L. Everything was going over the edge but then when shit hits the fan there's a new rule for the death note that voids a lot of stuff that has made the book really exciting thus far.

For me this was clearly my least favorite vol. up to this point. Misa seems to be a character with little depth or story developlent behind her character. The L suspects Light and Light attempts to distract L is getting a little old with little story line progress. I do like the Shinigami and the introduction of Rem. Here is hopint vol 5 picks up in quality...............

I'm really addicted to this series. If you could harness the power of a death god, how would you act? Try to make society better by ending the lives of criminals and bad people, kill anyone who stands in the way of your fame and fortune, or would you make sure that no one else could ever use this power? Why not do all three?

OK, now I'm just annoyed! I wasn't crazy about the portrayal of women earlier in this series--mainly due to the lack of meaningful women characters. But now that there's an important female character, all she does is squeal and mope about boys and wear short skirts and model. Oh, and get tortured. GRRRRR.

Is it just me or was this suddenly very purposefully-convoluted and repetitive? And had some of the most awful female characterisations in the history of anything??? The concept is still very cool, and I want to keep reading, but I kind of wish I could wipe the entire Misa thing from my brain.

In terms of OMG factor, this volume is probably better than vol. 3, but let's fact it, Misa kind of sucks. Watching Light forced into a corner thanks to her bumbling, and then having to come up with a plan to free her is interesting, but it doesn't erase the fact that... well. Misa sucks! >:O

Tense. A second Kira enters the mix, kind of screwing with Light and L's budding bromance (heh). A bit of mysogyny is added to Light's sociopathy. By the end, he's willing to make a choice that would seem to end the series...but there are eight more volumes, so...

series is still good, but i don't think i'll have the patience for 7 more volumes of "can L figure out if Light is Kira" at this rate. #12 (the final volume) now on reserve. if it turns out to have a good (or at least satisfactory) ending, i'll go back and read 5-11.

I thought the "cute girl as foil" device was going to be more cliched than it turned out to be. There were a few nice plot twists in this volume, as opposed to the excessive analytical thinking of the last one. I read this one in half the time.

Misa Amane comes in to the story with a shinigami of her own, Rem. Her idol is Kira and wants to approach, she did and when she saw him, she had the love in first sight. Kira, also know as light yagami is planning to use her all along.

Ok~ I do think that Misa is an annoying character, but I realize that we need her. We need the ditzy girl that makes us sigh and roll our eyes so that we can feel a little reassured that we have a better understanding than she does as to what the heck is going on....
