As long as there have been wars, there has been heartbreak. In 'The Spanish Road' by Anne Kaye, for Javier and Gaspard there's a special kind of heartbreak which even time cannot dissipate.
Javier is a very young, idealistic Spanish soldier, eager to serve and wanting to do everything right. Javier has discovered early that he's attracted to men. Meh. It was all right. It was kind of super lacking in the plot department. The romance was cute. But that was it. I kept expecting the plot to get started or something and then it was over.
