Wow I am so in the minority right now it's not even funny.

Let me start by saying that I enjoy Jennifer's writing style especially in Obsidian and I also love a good steamy romance.

But unfortunately with this I felt like I'd read it all before & better.

I know this was a novella but I've read novella's before & been able to connect with the characters for eg Connected.

Chase saw how his father treated his mother, cheating, using and then eventually leaving her. Chase fears he's cut from the same mold, so instead of hurting Maddie, he cuts things off. Maddie for her part, had never been so humiliated in her life. She finally gives herself over to Chase, and he rejects her at a crucial moment. Since then, they've barely seen or talked to each other. This is about to change, though, because, Maddie's brother, Mitch, is getting married and they are both in the wedding. He's the best man and she is the maid of honor.

The wedding is taking place at a vineyard/inn where the family and bridal party are staying for the whole weekend. Let the drama begin! Somehow, Chase and Maddie end up stuck in the same room, a honeymoon suite, because there's been a mix-up with the reservations. Convenient, right? (I kind of wished this would've been elaborated on more, like was this really a mix-up, or sort of planned by someone well-meaning?) Well, now that they're forced together, the chemistry they've always had can't help but come out.

J. Lynn has a talent for writing witty and snarky banter so this was full of funny one-liners and internal commentaries. I love the southern-type comments throughout, like: "Aww, hell" and "Hell to the no!"

This story was told in alternating POVs, Maddie and Chase's. I always love this type of story-telling because you get insight from both sides. I felt bad for Maddie, the way she felt over Chase all those years, not knowing the truth behind his actions. I also felt bad for Chase, selling himself short from fear of turning into his father. No worries, though, things wrap up nicely. I have to say I was a little frustrated with the confusion at the end. I also wished there would have been a little more at the end. This was a pretty short story (172 pages) so I shouldn't be disappointed. For the most part I really enjoyed this. I thought it was a fun mix of cute and spicy. This is my first J. Lynn book but it won't be my last. Another great pick for Smut Monday Club! Thanks ladies for all the fun and gossip!

Temping the Best Man is not a novel I would have normally picked up off the shelves, but it was exactly what I needed at the time - mindless entertainment. Not only was it a ton of fun to read with the cute banter between Madison and Chase, it was also a very sweet and steamy romance. I reserve books like this for those times when I just need a quick get-away or escape and this story worked out beautifully.

And this book has everything you want: love, drama, jealousy, tension, and passion.

First let me begin with the cover. Well, I've seen two. This one is sexy, but the other one is HOT. Holy heck! When you see these covers you have no doubt in your mind what you are getting into that is for sure. So to say the covers do the book justice is totally true. I can say that these are definitely drool worthy in my opinion.

As for the characters, well, I just love little miss Madison. She's sassy and sharp, pretty and witty. She's a 25 year old woman who knows what she wants, but also knows that what she wants is a bit forbidden. While I know she's older, I still feel that angst in her that you get with many YA novels. She's pretty and spunky and has it all tied up in her neat little small package.
And Chase, OH MY. He is, well, HOT HOLY HECK! He's cocky and confident, easy on the eyes, sexy and seductive. And he's smart.If that's not the whole package, what is. But he thinks of himself as something that is no good, tainted by the traits he believes he's inherited from his father. He is completely overprotective of Maddie, treating her many times as if she's his own sister. And yet, this protection is so much more than he ever lets on to her.
The supporting characters really are just that, supporting. You don't get much from them, but I don't think this book is about them at all. As in Fifty Shades of Grey, this book is about the romance between the couple, the commitments they are or are not willing to make, and the outcome of their decisions.

The story line is quite simple: girl has loved boy all her life, boy feels the same but girl doesn't know it, tension rises, misunderstandings happen, and then things come to a pinnacle. I like this type of story line. It's easy to read and you know the outcome will be good. I'm a sucker for a "fairytale" ending for sure. And to watch the struggle of the characters and feel the tensions that arise is really great.

As with all Armentrout's writing, this is very well done. It flows naturally and easily. And there's certainly the right amount of sexual tension to just keep you pushing through to the end. I read this in one sitting in just a few hours. Really, I could not put it down. It was the perfect escape. She had me wanting to smack both characters at times, while at other times she had me wanting to push them together, to run after them and show them what they were missing! I love any book that can pull at my emotions like that.

So this one gets 4 out of 5 for me, only because of the predictability factor and the fact that I was a bit annoyed with how both characters assumed so easily that the other had walked out on them. All in all, I think you need to go out and get yourself a copy of this book and read it, from beginning to end, in one sitting! I highly doubt you will be disappointed.(less)

Tempting the Best Man is absolutely the perfect recipe for a phenomenal romance story, down to the last details. There aren't many romance novels that have everything just right, there's often something about it that falls a bit short. Sometimes the story is weak or the characters are flat, and sometimes the chemistry just isn't believable. I can honestly say that this book was not suffering from any of these pitfalls, and it was so addicting to read that I literally tore through it in the 3 hours after I bought it. It has everything I love about the romance genre wrapped up in a sexy red ribbon!!!

Now for what I loved about this book...where do I begin??!! First off, I have to say my favorite romance stories are the ones where the main characters have a history, whether it be a friendship or a heart-wrenching break up. It adds so much more depth, and Jennifer created the perfect story with the plot in Tempting. I just loved that there was this unspoken chemistry and destined love story that had been growing between them for so long. The flashbacks to their childhood when Chase protected Maddie and she swooned over him were just so unbelievably sweet. My heart still races just thinking about it, this was set up so perfectly to evolve into the romance that could set fire in a rainstorm!! Jennifer really puts you through the whole nine yards of emotions with this story, and I LOVED every second of it! Your heart races, gets ripped apart, races again, is stomped on and wrung out, races again, then is hammered into with a dozen large rusty nails before being allowed to finally beat again...whew!! *takes deep breath*

The characters in Tempting were so spot-on, I was really quite impressed how well even the secondary characters were handled. Madison and Chase are most definitely now up there with Ana and Christian as my top romance couples!! She was the perfect heroine, bruised from her past with Chase but still holding on to that undeniable spark. She wasn't whiny or self-depricating, she was just hurt and scared to have to face the one man she'd always loved. Okay, petrified! And Chase, oh bestill my rapidly racing, beating out of my chest heart!!! J had me panting over this sexy specimen at every turn, he was most definitely sex on a stick!! And that sexy bravado he used to hide his true feelings was so damned hot!!! They were both so infuriatingly stubborn sometimes, I was just glued to the screen to see where the next twist would lead them! And the rest of the Gamble boys were just as delish, even though they were naughty...but we all love a bad boy, right??!! All of the brothers and Maddie's family were really cute with their teasing banter (yes, we get some of J's infamous sarcastic hilarity!!) and how they tried to make Maddie and Chase wake up and smell the giant carafe of "get together already!!" The way they all knew it was destined to be and were determined to get the point across with the cleverly timed "accidents" just made me love them all so much more!!

So yes, this was a smoking hot romance story and I've yet to mention those scenes we all hold our breath waiting for, but it's not because they weren't memorable! No, quite the opposite, Jennifer manages to build up the steaming pot of sexiness to the point you wonder if your heart can take any more!! Holy s*&t, hopefully my iPad still works after all the steam coming off it last night!!!! WOW!! There was just a flaming blaze of sparks going off between Maddie and Chase every time they were in the same room, and when they gave in to their undeniable chemistry it was &^*%ing HOT!! Oh, Chase just made me melt over and over again, and I loved how Maddie reacted to him!!! I would normally insert a *biting knuckles* comment here, but I think I gnawed them raw last night as I was reading this!! Gah!!!

I have to say a huge congratulations to Jennifer, because it's well-deserved and I was so completely impressed by this story. Bravo, miss J. Lynn, you have proven without a doubt how versatile your talent for writing unforgettable stories is!!

I got high hopes on this one thinking that it would be a flirty, exciting and smokin hot story...
I mean the title right??? It was very tempting but just got disappointed about the whole story.
It has always been a good start for a story about a girl who ultimately wants his brothers best friend.

Though the story line was easy to read it lacks a lot of originality and spice on the love story part. It could have been much better...:p

I love how even though this book was short, just under 180 pages, it still felt whole. It still felt COMPLETE. I still connected with both of the main characters. Also, this is an adult contemporary, and since Jennifer's other series Covenant and Lux is YA paranormal, I really wanted to see if she could do contemporary aswell. After reading = ummm HELL YES! At first I was a bit wary when I saw this was written in third person and in both POVs but after reading it I can say that I shouldn't have; Jennifer clearly knows what she's doing. I love reading about both character's perspectives Can I just say how much I love this cast of characters? Maddie and Chase, Chase's brothers, Mitch and Lissa, her parents, her friend at work Bridget and the others! All of them has very distinct personalities and all shone through the page when they were on it.

I think many people would be able to relate a LOT to Maddie. We all know that one girl who has had a crush on/fallen in love with her brother's best friend. I also love the setting of this whole novel, which revolves around her brother's wedding. I really adored Maddie. Guys, she is hilarious! Actually, this whole book had me laughing out loud countless times. The bit about the tires and her dad, her friend at work Bridget, Chase and Maddie getting locked in the cellar- was just a few of the most funny scenes!

Now, you can't have me write a review and not mention the hot guy at all. Did I mention he's HOT? Dear me, I still feel like fanning myself whenever I think back to this book. Chase is like my dream guy, I love him so much (NOT as much as Daemon obviously, but pretty darn close). He's got that bad boy thing going on, but underneath all that hard exterior, he's so sweet and caring inside. Well, I won't deny that there were times during the book when I wanted to kick some sense into him, but even then I still found myself rooting for him and Maddie to finally be together.

Their chemistry. Whoa. The scenes are smoking hot, people!!! The bit at the nightclub, the cellar and the cabin - GUYS I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO SAY. There is adult content in here, but since I don't really listen, I decided that I would read it. And holy hell am I glad. I was giggling like a schoolgirl (well, yeah, I AM one) during the naughty bits lol. I couldn't put this book down; read it in one sitting. YEAH LIKE MOST PEOPLE WHO HAVE READ IT.

I've already heard that a lot of people want to see more of the other older Gamble brothers, Chad and Chandler, and I can't even complain. Please Jennifer, we NEED some more of these two very smexy brothers !! ;) I've said this before, and I WILL say it again. I will read anything by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Or J. Lynn, in this case.

I would recommend this to ALL older readers/adults, but since I'm 16 and I read it, well I think I should just keep my mouth shut. (less)

It's no surprise I found Tempting the Best Man to be enjoyable and addicting. Jennifer L. Armentrout (J. Lynn is her pen name for her adult novels) knows how to keep readers hooked. And she definitely knows how to make her stories scorching hot! I loved the hilarious banter and all the tension between Madison and Chase. They were great characters and made a perfect couple. I didn't want their story to end!

I liked it. This was my first adult Armintrout book. I'm a big fan of her ya series (Lux), and decided to give this one a try.
This story, ended up being a short and sexy contemporary romance with some likeable characters and sizzling chemistry. Could have better if the last part hadn't been so filled with (view spoiler).
