Brian McLaren recently released three e-books - one the word of the Lord to evangelicals, one the word to Democrats and this one to Republicans. Here we meet Fred, a farmer from Ohio, who is told to go to Washington DC and preach to the Republicans. Ever faithful, he goes and ends up on the Colbert Report as well as getting persecution from Donald Trump. This is a fun book that could be read in a few hours.

McLaren is a thinker, and often comes up with things that would never occur to me. I've read most of what he has written starting with A New Kind of Christian. I thought this was pretty good. Am currently reading Word of the Lord to Democrats. Glad he has something to say to both parties. Too bad neither party will listen up.

McLaren writes about the inconsistencies of our political system in a manner that makes so much sense to me. I catch myself thinking "exactly" throughout his writing. I puzzle over how smart, logical people can look at the issues facing us today and see things so differently.
