So, Prince Charming Must Die is the first in this series. In this book, we meet Alice, the next Hero. Her job is to go around using a magic pen, killing the Corrupted. The Corrupted are the characters from Grimm's fairy tales that came to life after the brothers wrote their stories on pieces of magical paper.

I really like the idea of the Corrupted. Grimm's fairy tales have always been dark, so it's not hard to imagine the characters unravelling after their tale is told. After all, if you've sudd...more

So my daughter and I loved this story. My daughter is really in to fan fiction, particularly “dark winning” stories because, after all, who doesn’t love a good villain. Our favorite Disney movies are “The Princess and the Frog” and “Mulan” where the princess is the one kicking butt and taking names, not just sitting around waiting for her handsome prince to rescue her. It fits really well with my strong willed daughter’s personality.

This is more than just a retelling of a fairy tale. This is a...more

Alice is almost 18, she has an amazing boyfriend, Edward, she loves to fence and she has a perfect volunteer job working in the library. Plus school's almost over...what could go wrong? Plenty. On her first day at her library job she is asked to shelve an old book downstairs in the basement. In the basement she finds old books, a really old pen and a note... addressed to her, who could have known she would be down there? The note tells her to draw a door and not to forget the handle. This door o...more

This was a fun, quick read. I love fairy tales and I love books and movies that use fairy tales as inspiration. This is only about 100 pages long and the first in a "series", which uses Grimms fairy tales as a major part of the plot.

The series follows Alice, a teenager who finds out she is a hero. Apparently, the characters from Grimm's Fairy Tales came to life and became corrupted. Alice is supposed to fight the corrupted.

I mean, I know it's a short ebook and that it might not be amazing writin...more

Look at that title. Tell me you can pass up the chance to read it.

... Well, I couldn’t. Which turned out to be a good thing, because Prince Charming Must Die was a refreshing, funny, light and intriguing read.

Plus, it was fairly short, so it’s the perfect title to insert in-between our longer, tougher reviewing books. But that’s neither here nor there—let’s move on to the meaty stuff.
Let me start with a question: do you know the ending for Snow White? I mean the real ending, not the Disney one....more

Let's face it, titles are rough. Some of them are absolutely horrible, while others might as well have sprouted arms for how quickly they grab you. This is one of the good ones!

This is a very quick read, and if you like anything to do with fairytales, or adventure, or high school drama, you need to read it. Although, if you're handing it to a young teenager or tween, you should be aware that there's some material you may not want them reading unless you're using it as a discussion jump-off (alco...more

Prince Charming Must Die by Isabella Fontaine

My thoughts of the book Prince Charming Must Die by Isabela Fontaine had the makings of a book with great promise. Who as a child growing up didn't like the Grimm Fairy-tales. But after reading it the storyline was really flat and never picked up. Just a really bad play on the fairy tales. Another thing this book series is geared towards ages 13 and up in my opinion it should not be rated as such. At 13 they don't need to be reading out having sex and...more

I was intrigued by the title that's why I agreed to read and review this book. It was a quick read, probably spent only few hours reading this. The story is based on Grimm fairy tales mixed with some teenager love life drama. I thought the storyline is great, loved the characters especially the talking rabbit - made the book lively and interesting. Writing is simple so definitely easy to read and understand.

Why 4-star? Since the story is based on Grimm fairy tales and of course with the title, I...more

I really enjoyed this book. The stories center around the fairy tales written by the Brothers Grimm. The idea is, the brothers imbued their parchment with a mixture of white and black magick. As a result, any characters they wrote about on the imbued parchment would magically appear in our world, from theirs. The longer the characters spend in our world, the corrupt and evil they become. They're referred to as the Corrupted. Throughout the years that this has been ocurring there have been heroe...more

Prince Charming Must Die is a short book, but it packs a lot of action and character development into 91 pages. I love fairy-tales, and as an added bonus this book also includes some classic fairy-tales which I particularly enjoyed.

Alice is a strong, likeable main character, smart, savvy and sensible shes also has a wickedly sarcastic sense of humour which I particularly enjoyed.

The writing is clear and to the point, without over-simplifying the story, and I hold a particular fondness for the t...more

This was a really good book! It was easy to read, and hard to put down. The book is about a teenager who gets caught in the land of fairy tales. I don't want to give to much away, because it would ruin the element of surprise. If you enjoy fairy tales, this is a great book. Can't wait for the next book in the series!

Short, funny book. Who can resist a book that plays on fairy tales? It seems to be all the rage right now. This book is not to be missed...The characters are amusing.

I enjoyed reading this book. Look forward to more by this author.

It was ok. Nice, quick read. I just didn't care for the main character-was a classic Pollyanna/Mary Sue character.
Jackie Ruiz
ok. interesting storyline, but the writing itself sounded like something written by a teenager.
