The story is set in a mining town. Virgil is older than his cousin; Clyde. Virgil plans on moving to Denver to look for gold & his father Elias Kipp. He is accompanied by Widow Johnson who is looking for a male acquaintance.

Going from town/town (Golden, Clear Creek) Virgil ends up by the Mercher-Kipp mine where he meets a man; Sam Mercer who says his father was buried alive looking for gold. He digs for his father but does not find the remains.

At first I thought Virgil was going to find the same fate as his father. Then things became a lot clearer. I enjoyed this story!

Time Travel

This YA romance has all the makings of a good plot, but lacks in that the author utilizes telling more than showing the drama that transpires. Also it is difficult to realize that when he seeks his father in a room of blue fog, that he is entering a time travel essence and so one doesn’t really realize that until half-way through his meeting with the teen-age maiden Agoura and her tribe and woolly mammoths are brought into the story.
