I received this book from the author herself as to give an honest literary review.

Rift Healer was an amazing read, I could not put it down. This book is targeted for all audiences young and adult it is such a wonderful book you will truly enjoy it yourself.

I found a part in here that made me chuckle quite a bit, "Taylor grabbed his blue plastic six-shooter. This is so stupid. We're going to get eaten and all they'll find is melted, plastic water guns."
Now you will have to read this story to fi

I received “Rift Healer” as a GIFT from Author Diane Haynes herself for my enjoyment, and as a lover of books I wanted to pass along my fair and unbiased opinion in a review.

I absolutely loved this book, and I must admit that I was totally surprised by the story… you may ask why surprised? Well when I first read the blurb it was like ok, I’ll read this soon, but it wasn’t one of those that said READ ME NOW!
It, the blurb.. didn’t do this novel justice at all.

I really liked the beginning of the story with Micah feeling a very strong attraction to a girl in a photograph. Once I met the twins I really got invested into the story line and with their first battle I was hooked. This is totally new and fresh in so many ways. The dragons they need to fight to make sure good overcomes evil is new and fresh and from flying rats, which, by the way was totally freaking me out to fast growing moss assi

Haley and Lacey are twins, they come to their grandmothers in the summer and work on learning herbs and plants with Gisele, an old woman who is also in possesion of magical powers and a secret she is unwilling to share. An earthquake caused a series of rifts in the forest floor and are letting a bunch of terrible creatures loose. Gisele calls on her grandnephew and his distant cousin twice removed, Selena, to help her. Micah and Haley have an instant connection much to the dislike of Selena who ...more

I was given this book on a read to review basis.

I fell in love with this book within a few chapters, and would have easily finished in one sitting if I hadn't had to get up for work the next day.

The book follows the story of an old lady, Gisele and a group of teenagers, Haley and her twin sister Lacey, Taylor, Micah and Selena, who are thrown together in an adventurous, exciting yet dangerous summer in which they must save a magical forest from rifts that are appearing all over.

The storyline is

Duncan McGonall’s Review of Diane M. Haynes’ Rift Healer

Rift Healer is about half Young Adult and a healthy helping of Middle Grade paranormal fantasy rite of passage romance. Except for a scant few errors, Rift Healer appears to have been professionally edited. The style of prose is engaging and forward, following a straight-line chronology with few deviations into backstory. Those present are artfully done and always in forward motion, immediately relevant to present-tense action. Characters a

Haley and Lacey look forward to staying with their grandmother in the summer. They love being there and also they love helping and learning from Giselle. She help them have a fun summer last year learning a little about magic and exploring the enchanted forest. This summer may have more magic and adventure than the twins are expecting. See rifts are opening up and it may be up to them to save the forest and maybe the world from an evil. They have help when Micah and Selena show up at their aunt ...more

Okay, I'm ashamed to say that this book is a classic 'don't judge a book by it's cover' case for me.
I'm not really a fan of the cover, and the blurb on the back was only mildly interesting. Those things almost made me pass on this book.
HOLY COW, that would have been a HUGE mistake!!

Let me try to put this into perspective for you--
I have a 4 year old daughter, and I've been buying YA and MG books for her. Yes, I realize that she won't be able to read them for years. I just want to have the books

I want to start off by saying this was such an interesting read! There was no room for me to be "if-y" in anyway. The plot was well developed and the story has a continuous pace that draws you in but doesn't overwhelm in any way, I found it quite enjoyable and couldn't put it down, literally whenever I found the time to read it I did, I finished it within a days length.

Haley and her twin sister Lacey are in for a real treat this summer when they go to stay with their Grandma Clara but one of the

Rift Healer is a story that is unlike any other story I have read before. I have read plenty of fantasy and mystical kind of books but this one just took me to a place I can honestly say I have never been and I loved it. The mix of reality and the magical and the group of mismatched and to a point inexperienced magical people if you like, was so refreshing I didn't want it to end. I really hope there is more in this series.

Gisele has enjoyed her life next to an enchanted forest for almost fifty years in peace. She has used her skills in herbology and her Gifts to heal and even taught other student along the way. No students have grabbed her heart more than her latest pupils Haley, Lacey, and Taylor. Haley and Lacey and identical twins and Taylor just happens to be Lacey's boyfrie

I just love love this book, and I'm hoping to see more to this story. I love the characters so much. I can relate to Hayley easy and Lacy reminds me of my sister. I also love Micah (who wouldn't)! Taylor is also a great character. The writing is wonderful and it is a fast read full of adventure! I'm very impressed and can't wait to read more by this author!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVED this book! First of all the cover. It related to the book and is such a magical picture. Perfect for the story. You know how sometimes you pick up a book because the cover looks interesting then you read the blurb and think "how the heck does it relate to the picture?" That annoys me.

Anyway back to the story...

The wonderful Diane Haynes gave me a copy of her book Rift Healer in exchange for an honest review. I was thrilled that I accepted. The book was awesome in a can’t put it down kind of way.

Being warned by the fortune teller about having the most exciting and dangerous summer of their life, twins Hayley and Lacey head to their grandmother’s for the summer. Looking forward to romance and adventure, not knowing that’s exactly what they’ll get and then some! Rift Healer was exciting, fun and it never really had a dull moment in it. This is one of those books where the age of the reader doesn’t matter. I can see this appealing to both a younger audience and an adult one.

Ms. Haynes creates a fabulous enchanted forest with an array of mythical creatures. Her characters are well thought out, tight and believable. I loved how they were all connected— a group of friends and family.

Description is one of Ms. Haynes strong points, from the characters, to her amazing enchanted forest, to the good guys and the bad. I felt like I wa

WOW!!! That was the first thought that crossed my mind when I finished Rift Healer. This was one of the best YA fantasies I have read. I could not put it down. The characters were very fun and likable, the adventure was fantastical, and the pace was perfect. I simply adored the lore Diane used and anytime someone is able to have a unicorn in a story for YA and adult readers, they are my kind of author. The presence of Gisele, the mentor/leader/grandmotherly figure really added a lot to the story ...more

This novel is creative, adventurous, and magical. A group of teens spend their summer with their aged herb teacher battling fantastical creatures while attempting to heal rifts in their favorite enchanted forest. Unicorns, dragons, fairies, and my personal favorite--The Green Man--plus many more like giant scorpions, line quicksand, and Terrors all make their appearance in these pages. Mix in teen romance, some jealousy, and the special bond between twin sisters and you have a great YA fantasy!

I loved this book! Haynes drew me in with her Enchanted Forest right away and I was ready to stay there. Her vision of its magical inhabitants is wonderfully different, yet familiar at the same time. RIFT HEALER is tightly written, fast paced and flows smoothly from one magical moment to the next. The characters are engaging and believable and will appeal to adults as well as the YA group. Haley is especially endearing, with her awkward blossoming into an adult and magical healer. I can't wait ...more

Ms. Haynes is an excellent storyteller. I found myself surprised that the story was not the teenaged angst-filled romance with a few mythical beasties thrown in. Instead, the forest's healing is integral to the story and, I think, a metaphor for the trials faced in a relationship. The rifts at first are small and both parties are pleased that they are healed fairly easily. However, they become progressively worse and more teamwork and effort is involved, and outside influences interfere.

Although technically YA, I found this to be a nice break from a lot of the stuff out there. It had an entertaining story line, believable characters, and drew me in from page one. While obviously a fantasy story, there was enough 'real world' to keep it from being frivolous and downright silly, which made it one of the more entertaining books to cross my path in quite a while.

I was sent this book for a review, so here it is.

A delightful story filled with magical ingredients where the characters must battle evil and save the forest. It was well written, if for a younger audience, and I could see its potential for fantasy fans.

I won't give away too much, but will say that it is worth a look.

In a word: a dizzying array of magical creatures, non-stop action, a dangerous mission and some very scary monsters.

Rift Healer was one of those books that gets better the more you read. I have to admit I wasn’t convinced in the beginning that I was going to enjoy this story. It took a while to really get going, and although there is quite a bit of action in the first half, it felt a little disjointed to me. But once I hit the 50% mark, the story took off like a bullet and didn’t slow down until
