David has frequent dreams about a boy named Eddie, and they come more frequently in the wake of his father’s death. When an ambulance picks him up from school, supposedly for a doctor’s appointment, David finds out that he is in a lot of danger because he is a Dreamwalker. He finds himself at Unsleep House under the tutelage of Professor Feldrake, who tells him that Eddie is actually David’s own grandfather as a boy. In 1940, during the Blitz, Eddie was able to escape, but in David’s dreams, he

One of the most intuiqing books I have read all year. I loved the idea of dream walking and traveling through time. The book starts off in an action packed scene where David dreams about himself trying to save his supposedly imaginary friend Eddie out to safety from his burning house that was hit by a bomb (this is in WWII). Unfortunately for David, this was no ordinary dream. When he learns from professor Feldrake about an organization named Unsleep House and having the significant ability to d ...more

Inhalt:

It was a FANTASTIC book. I loved it. The story-line,plot,and setting were all very well put together. I could never put this book down! I was always wondering what was going to happen next. Thomas Taylor is an amazing author. In this book, David a dreamwalker is sleeping and his dream is him rescuing a boy named Eddie another dreamwalker, from a burning house.

A great read with interesting characters. The concepts of time travel and changing history were really well thought out and believable; a hard thing to accomplish sometimes. Genuinely tense in places, with a real sense of the characters peril which was exciting.

It seemed the author assumed the twist reveal at the end would be more obvious than it was to me. So I did have a moment of watching the character "get it" and thinking "well I'm glad you do, because I don't." Otherwise really well paced

In the years since his father's death, an English schoolboy, David, has been dreaming of a boy named Eddie who becomes a "dream friend". One of his dreams takes place during the blitz. I just finished Haunters and I thought this book was great. Haunters is about a boy named David who can go places in his dream. There are a some other kids who can do this and David gets sent to a school because the dreamwalking school needs his help for a mission. David has to stop Adam, a haunter, and save Eddie, his grandfather because Eddie is the one who thought of the concept of dreamwalking. David must save all of dreamwalking by stopping Adam. On a scale of 1 to 5, I would give this book ...more

An average young teens' outing, with a really interesting concept that is only barely touched upon.

The premise is a young boy in England is picked up by an agency because of his ability to dreamwalk: when he dreams he can go back to any point in time. When people in the past see him, he appears to be a ghost. He cannot touch people in the past, but he can speak to them.

It seems our young hero has been going back to 1940 to visit a young boy, his own age, who is actually his grandfather, the man

If you're looking for the next big thing in time travel, look no further. Haunters is a thrilling read that had me turning pages so fast, I almost got friction burns. Time travel, evil villians, action, adventure, it's got it all. The plot is fantastially unique too, I would never have guessed you could explain ghosts with time travel!

I loved Adam, the villan. The way he was described combined with his name immediately made me picture him as Alex, from A Clockwork Orange. And once

The dust jacket of this book is very misleading as is the paltry summary on the inside cover. The guy on the cover looks like he is twenty (the main character is supposed to be 14) and the summary doesn't do the story justice.

Sorry, I had to get that out of the way.

My beef with the jacket aside, I was pleasantly surprised by this book. My favorite aspect of the book was the dreamwalking, of course. Not only can David time travel to the past through dreams, but they also appear as ghosts to thos

Eddie, Adam and David have the same gift. Separated by generations, they are linked by their ability to time-travel. Using their dreams, they can appear like ghosts, wherever and whenever they want. The first is the genius who discovers dreamwalking. The second is a Haunter, a dream-terrorist, determined to change history for his own ends. The last is the novice dream walker who must battle to save his family, and himself, from oblivion.

I have mixed feelings about this one - I loved the premise (good vs. evil battling it out through time travel) but occasionally the time travel concept became somewhat convoluted for me. The bad guy is REALLY bad, though, and the suspense might be enough to get middle grade readers through some of the awkward time travel constructs.

Aiden was reading this and asked me to read it too. I agreed since he was so excited by the idea that I would. I found it to be a really fun read. It is written for a younger audience, but the writing was better than another adult book I'm currently trying to get through.
