David has frequent dreams about a boy named Eddie, and they come more frequently in the wake of his father’s death. When an ambulance picks him up from school, supposedly for a doctor’s appointment, David finds out that he is in a lot of danger because he is a Dreamwalker. He finds himself at Unsleep House under the tutelage of Professor Feldrake, who tells him that Eddie is actually David’s own grandfather as a boy. In 1940, during the Blitz, Eddie was able to escape, but in David’s dreams, he...more

It was a FANTASTIC book. I loved it. The story-line,plot,and setting were all very well put together. I could never put this book down! I was always wondering what was going to happen next. Thomas Taylor is an amazing author. In this book, David a dreamwalker is sleeping and his dream is him rescuing a boy named Eddie another dreamwalker, from a burning house.
David, is apart of an organization called The Dreamwalker Project Founded by Eddie where dreamwalkers live and are isolated from the wor...more

A great read with interesting characters. The concepts of time travel and changing history were really well thought out and believable; a hard thing to accomplish sometimes. Genuinely tense in places, with a real sense of the characters peril which was exciting.

It seemed the author assumed the twist reveal at the end would be more obvious than it was to me. So I did have a moment of watching the character "get it" and thinking "well I'm glad you do, because I don't." Otherwise really well paced...more

In the years since his father's death, an English schoolboy, David, has been dreaming of a boy named Eddie who becomes a "dream friend". One of his dreams takes place during the blitz. David is kidnapped and taken to a Swiss mountain citadel where he joins a group of time travelers who are determinted to keep Eddie alive because of his future role in their society. The story alternates between World War II and now basically in Switzerland. There are enough loose ends to be tied up in a possible...more

Gr 5–9—For more than a year, David Utherwise's vivid dreams have included Eddie, to the point that David considers him a close friend. It's not until two separate groups are after him that he discovers that Eddie might be something other than a dream figure. Taken from his family and brought to the Unsleep House in Geneva, he encounters mysterious Professor Feldrake, who reveals that David is a dreamwalker, and that what he thought were dreams were travels back in time t...more

An average young teens' outing, with a really interesting concept that is only barely touched upon.

The premise is a young boy in England is picked up by an agency because of his ability to dreamwalk: when he dreams he can go back to any point in time. When people in the past see him, he appears to be a ghost. He cannot touch people in the past, but he can speak to them.

It seems our young hero has been going back to 1940 to visit a young boy, his own age, who is actually his grandfather, the man...more

If you're looking for the next big thing in time travel, look no further. Haunters is a thrilling read that had me turning pages so fast, I almost got friction burns. Time travel, evil villians, action, adventure, it's got it all. The plot is fantastially unique too, I would never have guessed you could explain ghosts with time travel!

I loved Adam, the villan. The way he was described combined with his name immediately made me picture him as Alex, from A Clockwork Orange. And once...more
The dust jacket of this book is very misleading as is the paltry summary on the inside cover. The guy on the cover looks like he is twenty (the main character is supposed to be 14) and the summary doesn't do the story justice.

Sorry, I had to get that out of the way.

My beef with the jacket aside, I was pleasantly surprised by this book. My favorite aspect of the book was the dreamwalking, of course. Not only can David time travel to the past through dreams, but they also appear as ghosts to thos...more

I have mixed feelings about this one - I loved the premise (good vs. evil battling it out through time travel) but occasionally the time travel concept became somewhat convoluted for me. The bad guy is REALLY bad, though, and the suspense might be enough to get middle grade readers through some of the awkward time travel constructs.
Liked it, but the ending was a bit off. King of Haunters, Tomkin? Seriously? Not great.
My 14 yr old son enjoyed this book but said it fell apart at the end. Not sure what that means but he didn't like the ending.

Aiden was reading this and asked me to read it too. I agreed since he was so excited by the idea that I would. I found it to be a really fun read. It is written for a younger audience, but the writing was better than another adult book I'm currently trying to get through.
Meh. Wibbly wobbly timey wimey.
