Geisha for Hire

Jayce Ito thought there was nothing he wouldn't do for his childhood best friend, Marley Bonds, until she asked him to help her out posing as a geisha for a client's birthday party. He'd done a lot of foolish things for Marley, but this just bordered on insanity—especially when the recipient of the gift turned out to be none other than his new boss, Reuben Danza.

Finding out who you really are can take many different forms. Jayce, a young Japanese American, has managed to successfully reconcile his Japanese heritage with the American culture all around him. That is not easy, but he has managed to do it, even using it in his job as book editor when working with a Japanese author.

What throws Jayce for a loop is the mounting evidence that he may not be as straight as he has always told himself he was. Dressing up as a Geisha, as his mother taught him from a
Experiment BL626
CAUTION: Long Review

Reasons To Hate This Book

1. The female characters, Jayce’s best friend and mother, were pushy and hugely insensitive to his feelings. They forced Jayce to crossdress and pimped him out as the party entertainment for drunk dudes.

2. Jayce, the main character, was basically a dumb bottom. It took him late in the story and a couple sex scenes to realize he — the adult virgin who never once found a girl sexually attractive — liked dudes, that he especially liked his boss. He is co

it was a little painful to read and the sex scenes were kind of awful.
I thought the MC acted stupidly most of the time and i wanted to slap her friend and mother all the time.

Just read Experiment's review to understand why this book didn't work for me. To be fair, I did read his review before picking up the book and he did warn me that it probably wouldn't be to my taste. I rather enjoy a little cross dressing now and then so I figured I'd give this a chance. #1. The mother was warped. Jayce said it and he was right. #2. What kind of boss takes advantage of an employee like that? Oh, the lines that were crossed there! #3. There really wasn't as much "geisha" as I had ...more
This book was honestly not what I expected. I thought the story was a bit inconsistent at times and frankly there wasn't that exciting factor when the MC finds out that the identity of the person under the costume. The story was just lacking and the romantic/passionate feelings between Reuben and Jayce was just non-existent. What I'm trying to say I guess is that, I didn't have this warm tingly feeling I wanted when I see characters get together (I'm one of those readers who love to happy for th ...more

Like any Shawn Bailey book, the dialogue is more suited for a comic book than a novel. Not very realistic or believable but very pleasant anyway. Some scenes i find objectionable though?

His irresponsible self absorbed friend Marley who throws him into a pit of horny drunk businessmen dressed as a gorgeous geisha girl then leaves him behind to converse with her ex who dumps her when she got pregnant. He could have been gang raped and all she can say was... You have another booking you should go

I don't understand why this supposed geisha on the cover has really badly applied Chinese opera makeup on. I really don't.

Aha. A quick google search reveals their stock picture source:

I'm sorry, but this woman's clearly gaijin and a quick google image/wiki search would have shown you that geisha makeup looks more like this:

Just saying and all, you know?

Fun and funny story of comedy tones. Jayce is not aware of its beauty it on his sexuality, maybe because it was entrenched behind the friendship for Marley. But it will be just to shake the life of Jayce. Started with a maleinteso, the romance with her boss Reuben, will become increasingly important. And sweet is that Jayce maintains his innocence and purity of mind and jealousy ... and "relative" punishment upsets me but I enjoy it too.
A book that is a joy to read
May 07, 2012 Aisu rated it it was ok
I thought it was going to be one of those guilty pleasure stories, but it exceeded my expectations and was even worse than I initially thought. I hated the characters. Admittedly, I skip-read after the first sex scene, which was just awful, so I might have missed something redeeming along the way.

Reuben, along with most of the male characters, is a douchebag. Jayce is a frigging pushover, no spine at all. And the women are bullies.

Shelves: m-m, first-time, yaoi
This book tried really hard to be yaoi, but even for yaoi there were just too many things wrong with it. It had potential, the whole mystery geisha thing could have really worked, but there were too many points where the plot veered into the land of wildly outrageous to be able to stay reasonable and coherent.

Oh, and the guy at the top of the cover looks like he's trying to sell me a car.
