Brianna is such a strong and brave woman. She has suffered through so much and yet her will to live and fight has remained strong. Stephan finding her was a stroke of luck and he’s absolutely perfect for her!

One of the things I really like about this story is how things do not just magically happen for any of them. I find myself often complaining that things happen too easily for the characters in many of the stories. That is not the case in the Brianna series. Brianna has to fight for every step forward she makes, and it’s not always a forward progression. She suffers setbacks periodically. This holds true to how things happen in real life.

Stephan is surprisingly mature for his age and manages to provide the things Brianna needs, both physically and emotionally. He continues to push her boundaries but he does it in a caring and methodical manner. Stephan will sometimes ask Brianna to do something without explaining his reasoning to her, at least at first. This does a couple of things, one it requires Brianna to trust him, two it keeps the reader slightly off kilter, as the reasoning is not immediately clear. I like that!

There were several things that really appealed to me about this book. The first was the introduction of Cal Ross to the story. His previous connection to Brianna is proving interesting. I’m extremely curious to see what happens with this in the future. I like that Brianna has Lily to turn to and ask questions. Having someone other than your lover/boyfriend/savior to talk to and ask questions is essential. I also really like Tom. Yes, I know he’s the doorman/security at the penthouse building, but he makes me think of a father figure (I’m assuming age here). He’s taken a liking to Brianna and is very protective of her. I definitely think Brianna needs all the protection she can get, without the smothering. I also really like that as protective and possessive of Brianna as Stephan is, he’s pushing her to become independent and encouraging her to find her own voice.

SPOILER ALERT: Stephan and Brianna finally had sex and it was the sweetest thing. Stephan made sure she was comfortable, relaxed, and enjoying herself. I was completely enthralled by it. I’m hoping sometime in the near future, we can move beyond sweet and get it to HOT HOT HOT!

We’re once again left with questions. We still don’t know exactly why Brianna’s father played a part in her enslavement, although we are closer to knowing why. Knowing why will not ever tell HOW IN THE WORLD HE COULD DO IT TO HIS CHILD??? I’m horrified that any person could do this to another human being. But to do this to your OWN CHILD is pure evil. I’m hoping against hope that it’s all a big misunderstanding and he didn’t really do it. The last question, or action rather, that better happen is Ian better get his! (Insert really bad words to describe Ian here).

One thing about this series that I waffle on is the speed at which things happen. While I like that things are not easy and happen overly quickly for Brianna and Stephan, I sometimes want the pace picked up a little. I know it’s contradictory but it’s just the way I am!

Ms. Hayes has left us with a HUGE cliffhanger and the only thing that pisses me off about it (because we all know I love cliffhangers) is I have to wait only who know how long until the next one comes out! You better get cracking Ms. Hayes!

This book is one long shrink session. It is exhausting. The storyline requires Stephan to use some D/s techniques as therapy for Anna. While it works in the storyline, it must be stated, BDSM is not to be used for therapy. It isn’t going to be cathartic. These types of situations are few and far between. D/s is especially dangerous to use as tool to fix psychological issues. It is not something I can condone. If the sub or Dom/me carries psychological trauma and issues, it is highly recommended to send this person to a kink friendly therapist. There are kink friendly therapists out there, contrary to fictional implications of otherwise. Ignoring this item, the story is still rather depressing.

Ms. Hayes writes a thorough piece accurately capturing a woman who is trying to recover from severe trauma. Brianna exhibits all the signs of PTSD. Stephan’s ability to help her deal with it is impressive and not quite believable. I could be classified as an ageist, because I find it hard to believe someone at the age of twenty five is able to be this mature. Regardless of age, Stephan’s treatment and handling of Brianna is encouraging to watch. He’s not perfect, but he’s pretty darn close. There are mishaps which set Brianna back, yet he is never discouraged enough to throw in the proverbial towel.

It would have been nice if the story included other things than Brianna’s issues. Stephan’s past is barely touched upon. His relationship with his uncle Richard is still strained. The new character, Cole, the grudge he holds against Stephan is hinted upon yet never fully explained. The book title says it all. Brianna is needy and incapable of integrating back into society. At the slow rate she is improving, it is impossible to foresee a positive outcome and growth in the next book. She’s a hot mess and at this point, other than her supposed stunning physically beauty, I’m hard pressed to comprehend Stephan’s attraction. She exhibits no personality to attract him. Perhaps the allure is his god complex to be the heroic white knight saving the damsel. Watching Stephan live and support Brianna is excruciating at times. He’s a Dom who walks on eggshells because his very essence is frightening to Brianna. He needs to watch his body language, tone and words for fear of causing Brianna to go catatonic. At what point is this no longer worth it? Stephan is a good man because he continues when I would have kicked Brianna to the curb. In this installment, I am beginning to resent her fragility. Stephan sums it up well when he asks her to stop saying she’s sorry and to work on fixing it.

The BDSM in this book is close to nonexistent. This book is not designed to arouse the reader. Instead, it is an interesting compare and contrast between what is considered abuse and what is considered acceptable BDSM play. Stephan is trying to show the intent versus the outcome. Brianna is only fixated on the outcome. She’s unable to fully distinguish between a good and bad experience. Her flashbacks are hindering her. She’s also relatively sheltered for an eighteen year old. True, she was captured at as a young seventeen year old, but her naivety at times is jarring. The sex which is in this book is purely vanilla. This is as expected due to Brianna’s sexual abuse.

The reason why I still rate this as three star is because the writing is decent. There is a continued world building even if it is at a rather slow pace. It’s laying the foundation for the third book which better bring all the threads together with a believable resolution. With the ending left at a predictable cliffhanger, it will be interesting to see how things pan out. Is the new character the catalyst which will move the story forward? This story is recommended for romance lovers who love the white knight. Stephan is one white knight I’d love to call friend. He’s the one who saves this story, even when he’s figuratively bound.

I don't even know where to begin. First off, let me just start by saying... last night I was extremely upset/annoyed, because I had accidentally spent 10 dollars on the wrong E-book... one that I did not own the proper device to be able to read it on.... Then when I finally found the RIGHT e-book, I had to spend another 8 dollars... but, I was so excited about getting my hands on this book to find out what happened next after "Slave" left me wanting more MONTHS ago, I would have paid...more OH.

MY.

GOD.

I don't even know where to begin. First off, let me just start by saying... last night I was extremely upset/annoyed, because I had accidentally spent 10 dollars on the wrong E-book... one that I did not own the proper device to be able to read it on.... Then when I finally found the RIGHT e-book, I had to spend another 8 dollars... but, I was so excited about getting my hands on this book to find out what happened next after "Slave" left me wanting more MONTHS ago, I would have paid any price necessary. And now... having actually read the book in its entirety... I have no regrets. Consider the $10 misspent dollars as a VERY well-deserved tip. And I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I mean... WOW. There are no words to describe how amazing this book was.... It was 500x better than the first, and that's not something I even considered to be possible beforehand.

I was just.. instantly sucked in... right away. From the second I opened the book, I just couldn't put it down for anything. I was literally eating my sandwich for lunch in one hand, and had my Nook on the table in front of me the whole time, using my other hand to turn the pages. I'm not even kidding. And also... there's just this amazing quality about you and your talent as a writer that really gets to me, because, I don't come across a connection like this with authors very often.... But, when I'm reading your books, every time a question pops up in my head, not even two paragraphs later, you're answering it for me, and I love it. It's like we have some weird telepathy thing going on here. It's so bizarre. And the whole time I can't help thinking, "Oh my God... she's reading my mind! How does she do that?" I've been trying to brainstorm ideas for a book of my own these days, and I hope that I can channel my readers and answer their questions before they've hardly had a chance to think of them in the way that you so effortlessly have.

I can also officially say that I have fallen madly, truly, deeply in love with Stephan Coleman. There were several points throughout reading this novel that I actually had to stop and take a break, because I had this overwhelming urge to cry... the reason being, the more I read, the more hopeless I realized my own love life is... becoming more doubtful by the second that I would ever be lucky enough to find a man as perfect, and patient and understanding with me as Stephan was with Brianna. It hardly seemed fair that Knights in Shining Armor like this only seem to exist in fiction. By the last chapter, I was squealing like a little school girl... like, Oh my God. I couldn't stop smiling, and "Eeek"ing (if that's even a word...? Oh, well... I guess it is now). It was perfect. And the cliffhanger ending??? OH my God, Sherri!!! HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME?!?!?! SUMMER 2013??? Are you nuts? I will have driven myself loony by then. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NOW!!!!

Oh, and by the way, Sherri? You are officially #2 of my Top 3 favorite authors. Just saying. :)

Keep up the amazing work! I know I'm definitely not going to be able to hold out as long as next year without reading another amazing book written by you, so I guess now would be as good a time as any to start working my way through "Behind Closed Doors" and "Hidden Threat". AHHHHH, can't get over how good "Need" was.... Okay.... Going to take Stephan's advice now and start taking some slow deep breaths, because that's the only way I'll make it to Summer 2013 at this rate. LOL! Thanks again for the amazing read. I think I'm going to go back and re-read "Slave" and then "Need", again, and again, and again, until I have them both memorized. :D :D :D

I am so loving this series. I have completely fallen head over heels for Stephen for the amount of patience and love he has for Brianna. I am absolutely loving how confident Brianna is becoming in her relationship with Stephen. Watching the way Brianna begins to trust again is heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time. I honestly can not wait for more!

Awesome, Sherri Hayes! Stephan and Brianna move forward to heal the emotional damage wrought in months of slavery at the hands of Ian Pierce. As trust and patience build so does the sexual tension! This second installment of the Finding Anna series is just as satisfying as the first and leaves you hungry for more....and I will be waiting for more from Sherri Hayes. A new must buy author for me!

2.5 stars. This series kind of feels like one book being drawn out into several. Very little plot movement and very repetitive. There are only so many times I want to read about them eating, her freaking out, her crying, her sitting on his lap, etc. Plus, Stephan doesn't speak like any 25 year old male that I've ever known. Need picks up right where the first book in the series left off, with Anna trying to figure out how to live her life as a free woman and trying to get to terms with what happened to her.

I liked this book better than the first one. First of all, while the emotional roller-coaster was still very much present, there was a big development in Anna and Stephan's relationship, more so than in Slave. I kept hoping they'd get past one point and when they did, I was very happy for them.

Very slowly and very carefully Stephen continues working at making Brianna feel safer. But this is not easy. Every time it seems like the girl has made a bit of progress something will happen to bring her fears back with a vengeance. Coming face to face with men she was forced to be with while being kept as a slave sends Brianna in to full-blown panic attacks. A man from her past, someone Stephen has an uncomfortable work-related relationship with, confuses the young girl. Brianna’s father, who she doesn’t want to see, is actively looking for his daughter and it is only a matter of time before he will find her, and Stephen’s uncle Richard is still trying to interfere in his nephew’s way of dealing with Brianna.
As Brianna slowly learns to trust Stephen and even more slowly discovers that sex is about pleasure rather than pain, all the outside forces seem to conspire to make their relationship impossible.

Wow! This was one emotional rollercoaster of a read.
It is impossible to read this book or its prequel, ‘Slave’, without having your heart break for Brianna time and again. The thought of young girls being sold as slaves, for men to do with as they please without thought or consequence is horrific and shocking, but it is something that happens, and a fact that should be acknowledged.
I feel Sherri Hayes did a wonderful job describing all the emotions Brianna experiences. Her fears and insecurities made sense and were realistic, her incapability to recognise her feelings towards Stephen was believable and charming and the courage she finds to push herself through her fears is astounding.
While for most of the story I adored and admired Stephen, my feelings towards him were a bit more ambivalent then those I had with regard to Brianna.
Stephen’s need to be completely honest with Brianna had me tied up with nerves on quite a few occasions. I couldn’t help feeling that at times it was too much information too soon, that maybe he might have tried to avoid answering certain of Brianna’s questions. And then I would think about it and realise that he had to be open and honest with her if he wanted Brianna to trust him.
Boy, did I get emotionally involved in this story. Brianna and Stephen have come to life for me while reading the first two books in this series and I find myself rooting for them.
This story is thought-provoking, confrontational and eye-opening. But it is also deeply emotional, romantic and erotic. I can’t imagine anybody putting this book down without being affected by the story. The issues tackled and, most of all, these characters will stay with me for a very long time.

My only complaint after finishing this book is that the story ended on a massive cliff-hanger and that I have no idea when the sequel will be available. I can only hope that will be sooner rather than later and I know that I will be reading it as soon as I can get my hands on it.

I have one word of warning for anybody thinking about reading this book; make sure you read ‘Slave’ first!

Just like the name of the series, Finding Anna, this book was very much about finding Anna again. This poor girl has gone through so much tragedy in her short 18 years of life.

The last book left it open for Brianna to decide if she wanted to stay with Stephan and possibly become his submissive. Brianna is not really sure what all that entails. She is continuously confused and has to reach out to Lily, her only friend and a submissive, to find out what would be required of her. Now that she has realized she is not a Slave she is unsure what she should she do. Should she bow when Stephan walks in the door? Should she continue to call him Master? All of these questions keep swirling in her head.

Stephan is probably the most patient man in the world. There are a lot of issues to work on with Brianna. He has realized that he has fallen in love with her and is determined to keep her safe and out of harms way. They both work on slowing introducing her to more social and sexual encounters. She has never experienced a consensual sexual encounter before since all of her previous experiences were pretty much rape.

Brianna realizes that Stephan will keep her safe and has been braving the outside world. During the course of the book she runs into a few people from her past, not all bad, but she goes through more panic attacks and flashbacks. Through it all, Stephan is there to rescue her. He is the only one able to help her out of her panic attacks and she is able to trust him more and more.

It is amazing to see the strength that Brianna exhibits. She is truly going through a transformation in this book. She is realizing that her life is good and nothing like it previously was. She is starting to believe in herself and in Stephan more and more each day. Her trust in Stephan allows them to move past the "kissing" phase. The two of them go into into uncharted territories, although they take it slow, we get to see the progression unfold very nicely. Their sex scenes are sweet and not too erotic.

The end of the book ends with a surprise, although it wasn't surprising since the books have been working up to this. Nevertheless, it's a nice cliffhanger that is making me dread the long wait for book 3. (less)

I’ll start with what the Slave lovers will like about this book. Need is the story of what will happen when Anna is given the choice to stay with Steven or leave. Still thoroughly broken, Anna has to work through a mind field of emotions to figure out what she wants. With the bombshell dropped on her she is so thoroughly conflicted on what to do. The story revolves around Anna living as Steven’s submissive but given the choice to come and go as she pleases as she attempts to take back her life. Steven lovers will delight in the second book as he tries to care for and nurture Anna back to mental health. There were a couple wrinkles to come into the story one expected and one out of the blue that added some nice tension and a distraction to the building back up of Anna. If you were hoping for a little more steamy in this one your wish is Sherri Hayes’s command. Most of the intimacy felt real and when they get around to it, pretty hot. The sex was nothing kinky just the two of them discovering each other’s bodies.

What brought this down for me. I was hoping for more give from Steven. He came across as too rigid in his life style although he didn’t force that part of himself on her sexually. I was hoping for more depth of character when Anna was given the choice to stay or leave. There was so much of the story put off for yet another installment that I was hoping was going to get tackled in this book. Of course Steven’s methods made me want to bang my head up against a wall which I justified in Slave but some of the stuff he does in Need just goes too far in the WTF category for me. Since there are so few of my peeps that have read this yet I am not even going to get into specifics but I am looking forward to discussing my opinions when they do read it.

I was sooo looking forward to taking point on this book because I end up chasing everyone’s 5 star reviews around here that I was hoping to be the leader on this one. Unfortunately I’m not going to be much help to anyone on this because if you loved Slave there is a good chance you could love this one more. If you were on the fence with Slave this book does offer more than Slave but came up short of me loving it so either way you may have to wait for more reviews to roll in or just check it out for yourself.

My Thoughts: This book picked up right where “Slave” left off. So much so that I am convinced that “Need” was just broken off of “Slave” in order to sell more books. One of my pet peeves. “Need” actually has a cliffhanger ending where there was none with “Slave”. Ok, I’ll get off my soapbox.

I did like “Need” as much as “Slave”. Stephan continues to get to know Brianna and help her overcome her slavery to Ian. I really do love Brianna for all her strength. Yes she has what seem like insurmountable insecurities, but she does face them head-on and when she can’t she allows Stephan to help her face them. I think the hardest thing to do is ask for help, but Brianna has learned to do just that. Meanwhile Stephan is always true to his word…never lies, never omits information, and because of that Brianna knows she can trust him. It’s my favorite part of the story, how she is able to rely on him and be safe after her whole world was shattered.

I am looking forward to the third book in this series. I’m hoping Stephan can continue to help Brianna become whole again. I’m hoping we find out the story behind her being Ian’s sex slave. Of course, I am also hoping for a happy ending for Stephan and Brianna.

Need was provided to me as an arc from Net Galley. Luckily, I was able to read it directly after Slave left off with a cliffhanger. I wish I can say the same for book 3. I can't wait!

I am loving the ongoing story of Brianna and Stephan, the continual tension fills the pages as the romance builds between them. I am also still thoroughly enjoying the minimal sex content although the book oozes sexual tension constantly throughout but this book does contain a lot more than Slave. Wow! Well I just had to jump on this one straight after release because I took a gamble on Slave last week and really enjoyed it. I knew that Brianna would still be going through her rehabilitation, with Stephen being her lifeline, but I didn't expect this book to surpass the first. NEED follows on the same suit as Slave, but with it comes character progression, new scenarios and a good sub plot.

Need was a great addition to the Finding Anna series by Sherri Hayes.

I really like how Ms. Hayes is telling Stephan and Brianna's story at a slow pace. It's believable, and the authenticity sets this series apart from other series.

Even though things develop slowly between Brianna and Stephan, a lot still happened in this novel. Brianna made a lot of progress in Need. Keep in mind, she still cries a lot, she still...more
