With bittersweet feelings, I bring you this review of 'Ascend'. This is the last book in The Trylle Trilogy. It is just as enthralling as the first two books in the series. I am not giving spoilers here. You will want to experience the evolution with the cast of Trylle for yourself. Some may cry, some may cheer, but in my opinion, Hocking has written one of the best series in YA fantasy.

This is it. The queen is dying. The king wants her kingdom. He will do anything to get it. Only Wendy stands in the way.
The final book in the Trylle Trilogy has great character development and an excellent romance. I was, however, a bit underwhelmed by the ending. We'll get to that. First, the characters. Wendy can be a bit dramatic. She will jump to decisions in a heartbeat and that kind of annoyed me at first. It's like she doesn't stop to think before she acts. I guess I should be used to her...more

REVIEW
I read these three books back-to-back-to-back on my Kindle. The story had me so engaged, that I could not put it down. I was reading in the car, at school, on my bed, at the dinner table, and in the media room. You could call it an obsession.
In this paranormal tale, Wendy learns at the age of seventeen that she is a troll. Oh, but she isn’t just ANY troll, her past is filled with mystery, deceit, and some unexpected ancestors. Amanda Hocking carefully twisted this plot with all sorts of su...more

I went on a reading binge and read all three books in the trilogy in a 9 hour period on Saturday. They were simple reads but still had a fun story that left you wanting to know more. I decided to combine my review in one place since they all did seem to blur together because I read it as one long story instead of three separate books. First, this is a new world that I loved reading about. Something different from the standard mythical creatures that are so big right now. The person she ends up w...more

I wrote a review for this on my blog, but since I wrote it right after I finished reading the book, I was on a bit of what I call a "book hangover." Yeah. Don't ask. It's crazy. So now that it's been 48 hours... I've calmed down and I'm going to attempt to write a spoiler-free review.
If you're not afraid of a spoiler-crazy review, you can visit my blog and check out my review.

What should I say concerning the last book of Miss Hocking's Trylle trilogy? Simply put, the whole thing is one hell of silly wish-fulfilling make-believe, with zero realism in the world-building, characters, setting and plot.
Our first and foremost problem begins with Wendy, the 'heroine' of the trilogy. In Ascend, Wendy suddenly becomes capable-leader's-material, who can keep the nobles at check? Sorry, I just can't believe it. To the end of book 2, Torn; Wendy remained a whinny, immature girl...more

This is a difficult review to write. Not because I’m at a loss for words - because I have too many! I’m about to burst at the seams needing to vent to someone about everything that went down in the final installment of The Trylle Trilogy. What are you trying to do to me, Amanda Hocking? How am I going to express any of my opinions here without giving anything away from the book? I suppose I will stick to safe topics, and this review may go down as one of the shortest in my little blogging histor...more
Ascend is the perfect ending to the Trylle Trilogy. I'm sure there are more than a few people who wish Amanda Hocking had taken the obvious route with her plot, but I for one am so glad she didn't.
Wendy is trying to save her people but they continue to fight against her and amongst themselves making her task seem insurmountable. She has put the needs of her kingdom ahead of her own, but no matter what she tries, everything seems to be falling apart. I love that Wendy fights for what she believes...more

I really hated that the Trylle Trilogy had to end.. but at least Hocking went out big with ASCEND. I absolutely loved the first two books, but this final installment was the best yet. Once I picked it up, I just couldn't put it down. The growth of the characters, that fans have come to love, is strong and undeniable. Wendy is really impressive as she truly come into her own in ASCEND.

This was the final installment to the long awaited Trylle Trilogy... Frankly? I was surprised! Mostly in a good way.
I completely stumbled upon Amanda Hocking's work, and I have been addicted since day one. Might I add, that since then, I've read her entire Trylle Trilogy and My Blood Approves series in just under two weeks... I'm strange. But, I digress! Onto the book.

Pretty good ending, the last book pulled things together in a nice little package at the end. The ending was kind of predictable, but that doesn't really matter. I can’t help wish that this was expanded into 4 books. It seemed like things were over too quickly and rushed. There was decent detail and I was satisfied with it, but in my humble opinion, some of the history and things going on could have been expanded on to make it seem less like the author trying to fit a lot of story in a few pages...more
The final book in the Trylle Trilogy..
With a war looming on the horizon, Wendy's fate seems sealed. But everything she sacrificed might be in vain if she can’t save the ones she loves.
Her whole life has been leading up to this, and it's all coming to an end.
This is a young adult paranormal romance with some mild language and mild sexual situations.
It also contains a bonus excerpt from "Jenny Pox" by J. L. Bryan.

Amanda Hocking, I'm thinking, will be one of the first major cross over writers in the modern Indie era to go from bestselling indie book sales to mainstream traditionally published bestseller sales. Maybe not the first but certainly as an Indie Book Author poster child, a blogger and pioneer of self pub'd promotional wiz kids. I've not read anything of hers yet but I will soon. Let's be real here: All the attention she's gotten and is getting, and will, no doubt in the near future get HAS to be...more

Ok, well, as I've read many other people saying, I read all three of the Trylle trilogy in one massive go, so I'm going to have to write my reveiws for all the books into one. As an author myself, I congratulate Ms. Hocking on the sheer originality. Vampires are so popular right now that I'm starting to get sick of the mere mentioning of one. Now, overall, the series was not bad, not bad at all. I found the storyline good, and liked how Wendy developed throughout the series. I liked the Vittra/T...more
This is the last book in the Trilogy, following Switched and Torn. Many things happen at the beginning of this book. Loki requests amnesty from Elora, who is getting weaker and Wendy must step in to fulfill her role as princess. It is after then that Wendy finds out how he has been tortured by the Vittra King. On top of that, Wendy has her wedding to be concerned about. Even though every aspect of the wedding is being planned for her by Marksinna Krohn and Willa, she is still worried about it. I...more

I live in Minnesota, and I write young adult paranormal romance and urban fantasy mostly. The
My Blood Approves
series is about vampires in Minneapolis, and its available now. I also wrote the Trylle Trilogy, which is a paranormal romance without vampires, shifters, mermaids, fae, angels, dragons, ghosts, or ninjas.
