เนื่องจากไม่ได้ชอบอะไรเล่มแรกมากมาย มาเล่มนี้พล็อตก็ยังเหมือนเดิม ก็เลยไม่ได้รู้สึกว่า มีอะไรเป็นพิเศษ ที่สำคัญในแง่ของภาพรวมของชุด ก็ไม่ได้มีคำอธิบายที่เพิ่มเติมขึ้นมามากนัก ข้อสงสัยที่เรารู้สึกในเล่มแรก ก็ยังคงรู้สึกต่อไป แถมเรื่องยังเพิ่มมิติเรื่องราวของเหล่าภูติที่อยู่อีกมิตินึงจากโลกของเราเข้ามาเกี่ยวอีก เลยทำให้เราคิดว่าแค่นี้ก็ยังไม่ชัดเจนเลย จะเพิ่มมาทำไม (วะ) มั่วเหลือเกิน

แต่ก็เหมือนคนประสาทเล็ก ๆ ตรงที่ยังไม่เข็ดค่ะ นี่ยังคิดว่า จะซื้อเล่มสามมาอ่านต่อ เพราะอย่างน้อยคาแร็คเตอร์ในเล่มสามก็ดูน่าสนใจมากที่สุดในชุดแล้วล่ะ (แม้เราจะไม่ชอบนางเอกเอาเสียเลยก็ตาม)(less)

I was a little bit miffed off after reading Black Magic because i wanted a complete story, but after reading this i feel like that book makes more sense now.

This book was so good!!! Sexy shifter soldiers...yeah, you know I'm right there and this is a fantastic group of them!! The book starts with Aric being tortured and right then I was hooked because you know this is going to be a good angsty hero and I do love those! Aric was captured when a mission went wrong and now he's being tortured at the hands of his step-sister. While in captivity though, he discovers that one of the Alpha pack, Micah, isn't dead....although he's really close.

The heroine in this book is super-tough LA cop, Rowan. She's been given a tip about her presumed dead brother Micah and ends up at the Alpha pack compound to investigate. Before this, she had no idea about shifters or other paranormal creatures or that her brother was one. She just knows that she's been told that he's dead and it's something that mentally she can't accept. She "knows" he's still alive.

I loved everything about this book. The whole Alpha team is amazing....from their leader Nick to the super-sexy sorcerer Kalen (he's the hero in book #3 and I cannot wait!!!) I like that J.D. puts a new twist on Bondmates. In this world, if the shifters don't claim their mate, then they die. Serious stuff here and it makes it so incredibly sexy. Micah is going to have an incredible story too after being in captivity for 6 months. He's horribly scarred both inside and out and he's going to have a long road to recovery.

Overall, I'm sold on this series. Now I need to go grab books #1 and #1.5 and catch up on what I've missed before this one! I highly recommend this series if this book is any indication about how good the whole series is. BTW, if you don't know....J.D. Tyler is the pseudonym for Jo Davis, the author of the incredible Firefighters of Station 5 series.(less)

Bookswagger Danielle: Four Crowns. I was pleasantly surprised I actually enjoyed this book. I haven’t found a lot of books about wolves I have liked. Either the characters don’t fit or it’s the same concept. However, in Savage Awakening I didn’t have either one of these problems.

This book featured a host of characters not just Rowan the heroine and Aric the hero however, it was still easy to follow. Rowan and Aric’s relationship was formed fast it was believable and didn’t seem forced. I liked the different take on the mating process and what happens to the male if they do not complete the mating. I respected Aric for trying to spare Rowan thereby making the choice hers. The book was wrapped up well but still had me wanting more.

I hate to admit this because I know Marcia is going to rub it in a little bit. I’m looking forward to the next book about Kalen.

Bookswagger Marcia: Three Crowns. This was a nice read full of supporting characters, you get the feeling all alpha team members will eventually get a story. This is my first time reading the series and I did not have a hard time following or understanding the world of the alpha team. I liked Rowan she was a tough chick, who was not over done. I have seen tough chicks over done and fight the relationship to long and make choices that did not make since much to my frustration. That did not happen in this book.

J.D. Tyler has built a world where wolves are born and made. The alpha team was made during a fight in Afghanistan (I refuse to spoil it for you) so it makes it plausible for human men to be turned into wolves (which is why realist Danielle likes it). Her world also consists of witches and other magical beings. This series is just picking up speed I can tell it is going to get darker and a host of magical creatures or going to get some attention so if this something you enjoy you might want to join the alpha pack team.

The chemistry between Aric and Rowan is off-the-charts. They are well matched and their interaction is, at times, hilarious, but mostly smoking hot. Filled with action, hunky shifters, a feisty heroine, witty banter, danger, passion, romance and love, this is a book I hated to see end. Proving herself to be a phenomenal author, J. D. Tyler is definitely a ‘must-read’ author. Although this book can be read as a standalone, I would suggest also purchasing the first book in this series, PRIMAL LAW. I also look forward to the next book in this series, BLACK MOON, which is Kalen Black’s story and is due out in December. In the meantime, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of SAVAGE AWAKENING.

I really enjoyed this book. Savage Awakening is the second story in Alpha Pack series by J.D. Tyler.
The heroine of story is Rowan Chase who is the sister of Micha Chace's (who was in the book- Primal Law) Aric Savage is the hero who has his own secrets and issues.
This heroine was more believable than in the first Alpha Pack book because she grew up around the supernatural stuff. I really loved the first love scene and how it came about.

I enjoyed this book so much I had a hard time putting it down! Rowan is a cop whose brother has been missing. Most say he is dead but she feels he is still alive. She sets out to find him and finds the head quarters of some wolf shifters. They all set out together to find her brother as well as pack mate Aric.
Aric and Micah have suffered enormously under their enemies care they are found and eventually Aric figures out Rowan is his mate.

Enjoyable and fast paced read. Somewhere just over halfway I felt like I lost connection with our couple, though. The first part of the book felt like we were going to get one story from the romance and then it took a left and we got something different.

The driving plot of fighting the baddies was solid though and I'm looking forward to the continuation of Mac and Kalen's story.

4 and a half stars. While Aric and Rowan have a nice love story, the heat of Kira and Jax was hard to live up too. The progression on the hunt for the big bad guy really moved along, it wasn't stale or stagnant as many PNR authors can do when they are trying to drag out a storyline. I loved everything about this book! Wonderfully written. I read the first book in this series just a few weeks ago. I liked that one. It was very good also. However the second book in this series just pulled me in & would not let go. I couldn't put it down. There were parts of this story that were just heartbreaking. Particularly Micah's story line. I liked this one, not as much as the first. I was happy to see Aric's story so soon, sometimes author's like to introduce you to a character and make you want their story and then wait until the end of the series. This was a bit of a disappointment.

I had hoped this would be a hot, romantic, paranormal read.

I got about one and a half out of these three.

So... The scenes between Rowan and Aric were hot, no doubt about that. But the romance was no where to be found. I really didn't get why they fell for each other and even the mate trope wasn't convincing enough in this case. It just felt like two people seriously in lust, but not in love to me.

I am not a big fan of military romance for some reason and I usually shy away from reading and reviewing them but Savage Awakening has me rethinking my stance on the genre. Savage Awakening is the second book in the Alpha Pack Series and I can’t say that it is a good stand alone book. There were a lot of times when I had to try to piece things together and it did make it a little difficult to know what exactly was going on. With that being said this is one of the best books I’ve read so far in 2012 and it has hot ex-Navy Seals who turn into werewolves and have special paranormal abilities.

Aric Savage has been taken hostage after a mission gone bad. For weeks he has been tortured by his step-sister and has lost all hope. With him is a former team member Micah Chase who everyone believed has died six month earlier. Micah’s sister Rowan is determined to find her brother and with the help of the Alpha Pack both Aric and Micah are rescued. I loved both Aric and Rowan and they had some really steamy scenes that I thought were going to catch my book on fire. Aric has a great sense of humor and provides some nice comic relief in a very dangerous world. Rowan is a great heroine and one badass lady. I loved that she never stopped fighting and proved that she’s just as tough as the men. Even though both of these characters have some issues and horrible childhoods they aren’t completely broken and it was a very refreshing change from the loner hero/heroine who has no friends and doesn’t trust anyone.

I really loved all of the members of the Alpha Pack and am really looking forward to the next book in this series. Judging from the sneak peak were given in this book I think the next one could be even better. The Alpha Pack series has been moved into my list of must reads and I am a so excited to see what happens with this sexy group of men. (less)

I love this series and I really loved this book! I read the first book right after it released and it quickly became one of my favorites so when this one released, I had to read it asap. Both the first book and this one are packed full of action, humor, love and pain. I love her characters, they're always very entertaining. I found myself laughing many time throughout this book.

Aric is now a favorite for me, I absolutely LOVE him! I'm a Texas girl, born and raised, so it's only natural that the sexy Texan caught my attention. He's very much an alpha male, which I love, but he can be so sweet too, which I also love, and it was so painful to see him hurt so bad inside. I just wanted jump into the book and give him a big hug! As far as heroines go, Rowen was such a great one. Strong, independent, witty, intelligent but also has common sense. She never did anything really stupid like some usually do. She was pretty much what you see is what you get and let me tell you, what you get is hilarious. Some of the things she said had me rolling on the floor laughing so hard. And together, oh man, they were smokin hot! The chemistry between them was perfect. It just all flowed very well.

I'm still a huge fan of Sariel, I can not wait to read his story. The woman who gets him will be such a lucky one!!! It was so nice to learn more about him in this book but I still have so many questions. Kalen is another fave and after reading the recently released novella, Black Magic, I'm dying to know what happens between him and Mac. That's sure to make a good read!
There were a few things that annoyed me. For a first time reader of this series, this book would be pretty confusing to them. Since I've read the first book and the novella, I knew what she was talking about but she doesn't really go into great detail about a lot of important events and such that happened in the previous books and you kinda have to know that stuff to follow this book. Another thing was the book seemed kinda rushed. Like she was trying to cram a 500 page book into 300 pages, or however many there are. It wasn't bad, I just wish it had flowed a little better.

All in all though, this book was very entertaining and I recommend this book to anyone who loves paranormal romance. I very much look forward to the next book, which thankfully, is Kalen and Mac's story! I can't wait!!!

We pick up in Savage Awakening pretty much where we let off in Primal Law. The Alpha Pack is back in the compound, but are trying to figure out where Aric has been taken so they can rescue him as soon as possible. They know that he is probably having a hard time in captivity, but they cannot imagine all the torture he is going through. When they finally find him he is contemplating ending his life because he is so much pain and fears he will never be found. He does perk up though when he catches Rowan’s scent. She intrigues him and he is eager to heal and learn more about her.

Rowan is interested in Aric as well, but her reason for finding these men was to discover what happened to her brother, Micah, not be distracted by an alluring wolf shifter. I really liked Rowan’s character, she is a cop for the LAPD and knew how to take care of herself. She did not whine or try and fight her feelings for Aric once they got closer to one another. She stood up to him and forced him to be honest with himself and her, especially when he did not want to be. In Primal Law, I did not connect with Jax or Kira at all, but I loved watching Aric and Rowan’s story unfold. They were a great match and complemented each other very well.

As for the action, I was happy to see a lot going on and not have everything wrap up as neatly as it did in book one. There are quite a few unresolved issues with the Alpha pack, especially when it comes to Kalen. That guy is in a world of trouble and I cannot wait to read his book when it releases later this year to see how his situation works out. However, I did not realize that there was a short novella with him released and some events in that story were mentioned in Savage Awakening so I was confused for a little while. I wished that we got a better summary from those events because it did frustrate me to not know what was going on. After a while I got the gist of what happened, but a better summary would have been helpful. I will be reading the novella now so I understand what happened between Kalen and Mac.

The only other issue I had with this book was the sometimes cheesy dialogue. One example was after they were intimate Aric turned to her and said

“Thank you, sweetheart. You were amazing.”

I don’t think I have ever heard someone thank someone else before or after they slept together. It just took me completely out of the moment and seemed out of character for Aric to say. Maybe this is just me picking, but this is just one example I am citing. There were a couple other moments where I laughed at some of the verbal exchange when I know it was not supposed to be funny. These men are supposed to be alpha and very rugged; some things that came out of Aric’s mouth in the book just did not match his character in my opinion. I know that they are supposed to melt for their mate, but I wanted his words to match up with what we knew about him more than they did.
Overall, I did enjoy this book more that the first one. Most of the issues I had with Primal Law were not present in Savage Awakening and I was happy to see that. I did still have a couple of moments where I was taken out of the book and was frustrated when that happened. I am however, very intrigued by Kalen’s story and will be eager to read Black Moon when it releases. I would still recommend this book to any fans of paranormal romance because it is an intriguing story. I think the books are getting better as they go and hope that the upward swing will continue with Black Moon.
