During our story times we like to capitalize on any ACTION words that we find. We'll either invite the children to mimic the actions with their arms and hands while remaining seated OR we'll have them stand up to do them. We have two performers so one reads the text while the other models the actions.

Another plus to ACTION words (verbs) is that they often afford introducing new vocabulary to the children.

Morris will soon become a proud dad. In order to get ready he wanted to see how the other animal dads made their babies happy. First he tried hopping like a bunny, but that didn't work. Then he tried flapping make believe wings like the chicks and that didn't work. Then he tried splashing like the ducks and that didn't work either. What is the secret to making babies happy? Will Morris ever learn the secret? Is there a secret to making babies happy? You'll have to read this funny story to see.

Colorful illustrations and a story with movement, good word choice and some repeition. This book will come in handy for next year's SRP theme "Dig Into Reading."

Another great book for first time parents. Mushy ending might not be appealing to preK set, but dad's antics up to that point will probably reel 'em in ;-)
