I just saw a picture from this posted at Curious Pages. We had this when I was a kid and I've read it umpty eleventy times. Oh, I miss it!
In reading this again now as an adult, I remembered every single picture. I didn't really remember the story (which is not all that great), but I recognized all the pictures. One of my favorite books as a young pre-school-aged boy.

The Littlest Snowman by Charles Tazewell is a baby boomer's classic novel with timely lessons for children today. If you can find this book, it's a real treat. The setting for the story is in a town not distracted by the commercialization of Christmas. A big crowd of people follow the Mayor to the yard of a little boy who makes the snowman. This book is about a town that loves the snow. Every year they build a snowman. This year the snowman almost melted, but with special attention they were able to keep him alive. The only problem was all the snow melted, but the snowman had an idea to save Christmas. I thought it was super cute and would definitely read it to young children, especially as winter starts up

I gave this one 5 stars, because it's classic from my youth (actually, originally published in 1958!), and it has a dedication inside from my mom's parents to me. But the story and writing have not aged as well as the amazing illustrations have! 12/3/13

12/21/14 Still awesome this year.

One of the first books I ever owned. I read it a million times then my baby sister ripped it to shreds and I forgot all about it until today. I need to find a copy of this book!!!
