Review Taken By The Pewter Wolf

In this manga, it tells the basic story of Beautiful Creatures. In the town Gatlin, Ethan Wate is desperate to escape. But when Lena Duchannes enters his life, Ethan discovers that the sleepy town of Gatlin isn't as sleepy as he first thought. Soon, Ethan and Lena's love for each other is tested...

Out of this and the movie, the manga is the most loyal. And this surprised me. I honestly thought the manga was going to be a cheap and fast way for the publisher to plug

While this is not the strictest manga adaptation of the novel, I wasn't expecting it to be. With it being noticeably thinner than the original book, this edition still kept all the important bits. Reading this felt like skimming back through one of my favorite books and remembering everything I fell in love with years ago for the first time. The release of this book is perfect with the movie coming out in just a few weeks. I think fans of the series with eat this edition up and will bring new fa ...more

After reading (and re-reading) the preview, I just couldn't resist this book anymore.
I devoured this book in one sitting and I loved it!
I almost forgot him much I loved the actual book and it makes me want to continue with the series.
The drawings are beautiful and I wish there was more :(
I would definitely recommend this one to the people who enjoyed the series!

I loved it! I know I say that a lot but I love books. The art was beautiful. And I loved the romance between Ethan & Lena. It was adorable. The plot twists had me hooked and the whole story was intriguing. A perfect blend of Rome and the paranormal. Though I wish Macon didn't die, I really liked him :(

A few reasons why I bought this book:

1.) The artist, Cassandra Jean is one of my fave illustrator/artist and she have also drawn doodles and fanarts for The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare (specifically The Shadowhunter's Codex), which I absolutely love
2.) YA novels that are adapted into graphic novels/mangas interests me
3.) Plus this book was like 80% half the price and it's hardbound.

I've read the original novel 2 years back and it was pretty okay, I guess. But having it adapted

Giving this "manga" 3.5 stars. I loved this book, so I figured I would love this graphic novel as well. It was just okay. It did show most of the story, but I just enjoyed reading the novel more.

This manga contains chapters 1-8 and a lot of the book is left out for length reasons. If you have read the full length version then this is a nice refresher or re-read to the first book. It does have all the main elements in it. What it is lacking is heart. I wasn't attached to the characters.

Story wise, I think Beautiful Creatures: The Manga had good flow but I got a bit lost when it came to flashbacks and the 'present' timeline. I think if I hadn't read the source material, I would have been a lot more confused at what was happening. The characters were a bit bland and their lack of development affected my enjoyment of the story. The dokidoki moments I get from romance shoujo manga was also missing which was a shame.

The illustrations were pretty, though sketchy at times. I liked E

***Disclaimer: I have not read Beautiful Creatures nor plan to. This read was out of pure curiosity.***

1. The art was obviously awesome-like most graphic novels

2. That sort of distracted us on how weak the actual story was

3. It was pretty confusing at times especially towards the end

4. But, It gave me enough information to understand the basic story but not enough 'anything' to make me want to pick up the novel

5. Atleast the art was good

I've not really been fond of a lot of the novels being translated into graphic novels and this is another one that falls into that category. The artwork is terrible and I just felt like some of the parts edited out could have stayed in the book. Could have been better and could have been worse, but if they do the next book I won't be picking it up.

Recommends it for: Fans of Beautifuk Creatures
This manga is an adaptation of the novel Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margeret Stohl. I enjoyed the novel enough to pick up this manga. It wasn't the worst graphic translation I have read, but it certainly wasn't the best. It is noticeably shorter than the book (which is pretty long). However, the main points are still there. The part I liked most about the graphic novel was that it explained things better than the book did, which was unexpected. There we're things in Beautiful Creatur ...more

Note: These are my personal opinions. I received no outside person comments or opinions.

I really liked this book.

I liked how this book wasn't made into two volumes like some graphic novels are. I'm glad that this book didn't cut a lot of things out either. Actually, it didn't cut anything out.

If you've already read the original Beautiful Creatures novel then you're sure to love this because this graphic novel follows the book exactly with the dialogue. The graph

I can't believe how busy I've been these past few days! Taking a break to read this graphic novel was so liberating but I've realised how much I haven't been reading :,( Anyways onto the review:

I had absolute zero interest in reading the actual book but I had to buy the graphic novel because Cassandra Jeans art is just so flipping fantastic, literally love her to death. I've seen the Beautiful Creatures movie and I know you can't judge the book by the movie but the main plot just didn't captivat

I like Beautiful Creatures novel, and of course I like Beautiful Creatures: The Manga even more. I begin to love Cassandra Jean's art-work when she draw most of The Mortal Instruments series. Even though, her style of is much of Japanese, but I still like it.

Beautiful Creatures is one of my favorite supernatural fantasy romance.

This is a book you can't put down. While it's "once again" a supernatural book, this book is far different from any other YA supernatural book. The story starts with a normal teen boy and seems to be just a regular love story. Boy meets girl in his dreams. Boy suddenly sees girl at school and realizes she's the one in his dreams. Lovely, right? It then twists from there into a story you can't begin to imagine. Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl twist this love story and keeps you on your toes. As a ...more

This was okay. It was the first manga I have read. The art work was so beautiful! I feel like the plot wasn't really solid though, and if I hadn't read the Beautiful Creatures series first I wouldn't understand a lot of things.

Old Update: So I'm picking this up again because I need a graphic novel for #cramathon and this is the only graphic novel I own sadly.

Old Update: I just can't. I got to chapter 3. This goes through the story WAY too quickly. Like Ethan already knew that Lena was a caster

So I really did not like the novel Beautiful Creatures but I took this out from the library because the cover art and drawings were really nice. I think this made me appreciate the plot a bit more, but I am still not a big fan and won't continue reading the rest of that series. The artwork, however, was very nice and I really loved how Lena was drawn. As simple as it sounds I thought her hair was drawn so perfect. I am not sure if I would really classify this as a manga but the novel did transla ...more

The artwork is very sketchy -meaning it looks like it was taken right from someone's sketchbook and was never polished up. I've never been a fan of this style so it's hard to comment positively on it. They didn't leave much out but I wished they'd incoorperated the songs better in the story and I was disappointed they didn't mention Ethan's father's "book" which I thought was important considering it leaves out the beginning of The Wayward part which is important in the next book (assuming they' ...more

It was okay it was like a slight mix of the movie and the book. It had the shortness of the movie but it stayed truer to the actual book. I felt like there wasn't enough content to this graphic novel tho

Amazing depiction of the Beautiful Creatures book (love it). Loved how you can understand the story completely even if some of the texts are omitted.

It was good. I miss these characters. It was a slimmed down version of the book but kept true to the basics. Didn't blow my mind but I liked it.
