This is a very good introduction into the thought of John Calvin. Singer begins by putting Calvin in the context of Augustine and the early church fathers, demonstrating that his theology is rooted in the theology of the early church and not an innovation.

He moves on to review Calvin's influence on his successors, western culture, and then reviews him topically on economics, philosophy, education, and finally social thought.
