May have slight spoilers.

Embrace, the second novel in author Stacey Rourke’s The Gryphon series, follows our main characters from the last novel, Celeste Garrett, her older brother Gabe and their little sister Kendall (Kini) who in the first novel learned that they were superheroes.

More specifically they changed because an old oath made by an ancestor to the Gryphon—the Protector of the Divine—to serve and help fight evil. One day three of their line would be called upon when they was needed t...more

Let me just start out by saying - OH MY GOSH!!! Seriously!! Stacey, Stacey, Stacey - how could you leave me hanging like that??!!??!!

Ok - now that is out of my system.

I LOVED THIS BOOK. Seriously....Stacey Rourke has quickly climbed her way up to one of my most favorite authors.

I left The Conduit with all intentions of coming back to Embrace at a later date so that I could get caught up with some othe...more

My thoughts on Embrace - OMG...WOW....OMG...WOW!!!! Now let me tell you why....

Embrace is book two in The Gryphon Series, so if you haven't read book 1, The Conduit, stop reading my review and go buy it and read it!! This book continues the story of Celeste, Gabe, and Kendall. Celeste is still dealing with being the Conduit for the griffin and she is finding herself withdrawing from human life. Her focus is all on defeating demons. Gabe and Kendall have adjusted better to their roles and are enj...more

After reading The Conduit, I knew I wanted to find out more in this series. Celeste, even though she's a kick booty girl with powers that will make you gasp, is still a magnet for trouble. Actually, not only that, she's a magnet for boys and relationships that will not end well! I actually feel pretty sorry for Celeste through the first book and halfway into Embrace. She just doesn't catch a break!

I loved that this...more

I loved the first book, but I loved this one more! I still had tears in my eyes from what happened in the first book (yea I read them back to back because I'm cool like that). I read this and laughed really hard (as I did the first book, but this one had more humor in it). The first scene that I laughed really hard at was: "Ya, know those demons I'm always running off to fight? That's one of them. Think of this as take your Grandmother to work day." I loved Caleb right off (I also loved Alec rig...more

Ugh! I don't know how to write a review for this without spoilers!

This was even more amazing than the other! I loved this one! This book had a lot more action than the first one and we find out about a lot of new stuff in here.

I really really really like Caleb. He's irish. And he reminds me of Niall because he's irish. Okay. Points to those who know who he is. He seemed so lovely and great. I cannot believe that he was like...more

Second book, double the greatness. The introduction of new characters did not overcomplicate the story either. First there is the Glee Club, a very unique and surprising group of demons. I don't know where these ideas come from, but they are wonderful! Then there is Rowan, a sexy "pirate" what more needs to be said? Then, well then there is Caleb. Insert audible sigh here. Last book there was Alec (who let me say is up to naughty naughty things) who I personally never felt a strong pull too, nor...more

Once again I couldn’t help but marvel at Stacey Rourke’s superb writing. Aside from her wicked sense of humor, she has an uncanny knack to effortlessly draw the reader into her characters’ world. Reading “Embrace” was like immersing myself in favorite TV shows such as “Angel” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”. The action-packed, fast-paced plot is extremely well-written and due to this I could easily visualize every scene and make myself at home in the characters’ lives. The side-splitting humor an...more

I loved the first book, The Conduit. That was why I agreed to do this blog tour. However, any time I prepare to read a sequel, I always worry that it won't hold up to the first one and that I will be gravely disappointed. I didn't need to worry.

I was actually sitting in a local diner, enjoying my breakfast when I started this book. I almost embarrassed myself snickering and snorting. By the time I was home to finish reading, I was prone to a...more

It has been a while since I've read books by a single author back to back. But with Stacey Rourke I made an exception, she needed, and as it turns out deserves readers. So I started with The Conduit, the snappy remarks, the funny one liners etc had me laughing out loud. The story was smashing, so I started on Embrace. Again filled with one liners which had me laughing or at least chuckling, at situations I thought, oh no. Not that. Then…. well then she introduced me, the...more

Review of Embrace (Gryphon Series #2) by Stacey Rourke

FIVE STARS!!!! ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!!
This book was provided free by the author in exchange for honest literary review.

So Celeste has now gotten some crazy cool new supernpowers. She's finally gotbto enroll in college and get a start on the rest of her life. Things should be great, right? Not really. Her last boyfriend showed his true demon side so she has sworn off dating. It seems no matter where she goes there is this huge target on her bac...more

Rating - 5 Stars *****

The story goes so much more in detail than the first book in the series but not TOO much as to overwhelm you. Just the perfect balance. Immediately you are thrown into the story and it is AMAZING! Celeste is having a hard time embracing her calling as The Conduit, The Chosen one. It is one demon attack after another and it is all business with Celeste as she is unable to let her guard down, be human for a change, Her brother Gabe and sister Keni are doing just fine with t...more

Author Stacey Rourke has done it again! Embrace, the second book in the Gryphon Series is the perfect mixture of humor, action, and suspense. The story leaves off where book one, The Conduit, ends, although admittedly I wish there were more about the story of Alec. From what I hear, I will have to wait until book three for that.

In Embrace, Celeste, along with her siblings, spirit guide, and wacky grandmother are back to fight more demons – given away by their black eyes and puffs of smoke. As t...more

ARC Release date :- June 1st 2012

Book two in the Gryphon series continues to follow Celeste and her siblings in their quest to save the world from demons who are trying to take over the spirit plane. Celeste is the ‘chosen one’….Kendall and Gabe her protectors, and together they soon learn that Barnabus; the demon they defeated in the first book was not the ‘leader’ like they were led to believe, instead he was actually answering to someone higher and the ‘unknown’ threat is still out there...more

Stacey Rourke's debut novel 'The Conduit' is undoubtedly one of my favorite so far this year. So when she asked me to review the second book in The Gryphon Series, I of course jumped at the chance. To read a book before release, uh heck yes! So here is goes:
As if I hadn't already fallen in love with Celeste and her siblings in the first book, I am totally smitten now. They are just the funniest bunch of fictional character's I have ever read. Celeste with her witty one liners, Gabe and his feroc...more

Review 6 out of 5

Eighteen year old Celeste Garrett has to come to terms with being the Chosen One. She knew having a normal life would be tricky, but between the intense training sessions and fighting demons, she didn't realise what it would cost.
She meets two of the hottest men ever. Rowan, the blonde, blue-eyed demon and black-haired, green-eyed Caleb.
However, who can she trust when all is not as it seems?

This is the second book in The Gryphon Series by Stacey Rourke. I have been eagerly await...more

Excuse me while I contemplate how I'm going to get over the ending of "Embrace" and write this review. Stacey Rourke left me hanging again. I love cliff hangers, but the ending of "Embrace" was just mind boggling for me since I want to know who that is that made Celeste scream. Ahhh!!!
The torture of waiting since I will not be able to read the third book until I am done with my other review books that I need to read. I will be finding out though....very soo...more

Embrace
Book Two of the Gryphon Series

As with The Conduit, I couldn’t tear myself away from this book. My imagination completely got the better of me (might have had something to do with the introduction of a gorgeous Irish guy) and once again I was fully immersed in the lives of Celeste, Gabe, and Kendall (and Grams, couldn’t possibly forget Grams even if I tried).

Everything is just bigger and better with this book (didn’t think that was possible after reading book one). The sibl...more

Stacey Rourke has done it again. The second book to her Gryphon series is just as fantastic as the first. Celeste (the Conduit of the Gryphon), her brother Gabe(turns into a lion) and sister Kendal(sprouts wings and is almost indestructable and a healer) join once again with Alaina(the bird/angel guide to all things mythical) and Grams(thier spunky grandma, who is in on the secret)to try to save the world from Demons sent by THE COUNTESS. Due to a pact made by their ancestors, they have special...more

There was no question that I was going to read Embrace. After The Conduit I was hooked. All of the amazing characters were back and a few new ones tossed into the mix, just for fun. (Dark Army Glee Club = pee your pants funny!!! If for no other reason you MUST read this book to meet them)

The characters always seem so real and not at all forced. The plot was well written and was full of action, adventure, romance, and a lot of humor. Stacey didn't disappoint with her comic relief and more often...more

OMG at the cliff hanger ending!

There is a lot going on in this short book. There are supernatural creatures of assorted varieties including shapeshifters, Titans, demons, and even a pirate!

Embrace is a story about your average teen to 20 somethings trying to save the world and maintain a normal life at the same time and juggle their new super powers. Whatevs, right? Ha!

I like the main character, Celeste. She's strong and has...more

Embrace (The Gryphon Series) by Stacey Rourke continues the mission of the Garrett siblings to save the world from evil. Celeste struggles with her role as the Conduit and how to live a normal life with such a calling. Kendall and Gabe seem to balance life and their supernatural duties better than Celeste. Celeste's sarcasm keeps the reader on the edge of a giggle through much of the book and keeps the serious moments in check. At times Celeste's naivete will frustrate the reader even though the...more

No doubt in my mind I am starting book 2.5 TONIGHT! I realize my review of The Conduit might not have been that up beat but for those of you that have picked it up WTH are you waiting for?!? Read Read Read! This series gets sooooo much better especially when Caleb comes in to my lif.... I mean Celestes life ;)
In short Celeste is the Gryphons Conduit if she is weakend or killed it weakens the Gryphon and the demons can gain enterence into the spirit plain. Which is not good because that can tilt...more

Let me start off by screaming ROURKE how could you! I really hope book 3 is coming out today. If not, after that ending I might feel compelled to throw eggs at your house. Just saying LOL! Stacey Rourke has yet again, spun another wonderful book. Between the sarcasm, humor, adventures in each chapter. You even have some purring going on. This book was certainly a page turner. I am sure that people thought I was a bit “loca” if you will. I would be quietly reading and all the sudden burst out lau...more

After I read The Conduit, I pestered Stacey to get an ARC copy of Embrace. Yes, I FB stalked the poor woman. I actually had picked up a signed copy of the book while at a book conference, but I when I read her books, the highlight feature on my kindle gets used a lot. I just love her way with words. They have me in stitches.

Embrace was even better than The Conduit, which is almost unbelievable, since it was made of amazing. This book continues the siblings adventures and adds a few new character...more

“With an easy grin he peered up at me. It took every ounce of self-control I had not to stare slack-jawed into his eyes. They gleamed like freshly polished emeralds, speckled with tiny flecks of gold. They were so pretty. Almost hypnotic...
That's right about the time when I realized he had said something. I missed it because I was too busy gawking at him. Oh, crap! Did he order? Introduce himself? Ask me to marry him? Request a restraining order? I have no idea!
How do I fix this and not come off like a total loser?

Yeah, no. That wasn't it.”
