If you've ever wondered how a movie gets made, you're not alone. Author and illustrator Jeff Kinney didn't know either, but when his bestselling Diary of a Wimpy Kid series was turned into a live-action movie by 20th Century Fox, he learned how books get adapted for the screen in not one but three major motion pictures. Complete with photographs, script pages, storyboard s ...more

There's one more book!

Having a wimpy kid book is gold dust these days with the 11th one yet to hit stores.

The book is a total riot with Jeff explaining all the pains that went into creating the hilarious movie of our troll-protagonist. If you had always wanted to know the inner secret of film making, you are not alone.

Finally, here we get a sneak peak as to how, what, when and how much conspired to make this diary a full fledged Hollywood flick!

From the casting to shooting locations to editing o

First there was the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book, said to be a realistic fiction novel, by Jeff Kinney, which appeared on FunBrain.com in 2004 and was released in hardcover on April 1, 2007. Next, there have been several sequels, including Rodrick Rules (2008), The Last Straw (2009), Dog Days (2009), The Ugly Truth (2010), the only one that I have read, and Cabin Fever (2011). The seventh, The Third Wheel, is scheduled for release on November 13, 2012. Then there was a Diary of a Wimpy Kid film tha ...more

Very very light read, But funny too. Liked it.

This book is excpetionally great. The hard book copy of which I hold, is delightfully designed both fore and backgrounds, and I especially loved the glossy transparent bits that make the pictures seem like they're stuck with sticky adhesive tape.

The book features details on film-making in general and about this series of movies/books specific illustrations to the tricks and the inside workings of the movie making process which I found to be both quite informative and entertaining.

The book's main

This for=kids book is a document of the making of all current three films in the Wimpy Kid Diary Film Trilogy, based on Jeff Kinney's superlative book series, which has legions of fans like myself, but this book might be the expose of Hollywood's continued exploitation of children as movie star "hotties" the publishers may not have intended, but ohhhh, the signs are there. Read betwixt the lines and you might find as I have how kid stars are subjected to offers of the world at their feet, especi ...more

The Wimpy kid movie diary was a great book that that was in some ways very different from the other wimpy kid books, and in some ways the same. The way it was written gave it a completely different touch from the other books in the series since it was not written from Greg's point of view. This book told all about the making of the first book in the series to a movie. It is basically like you are behind the scenes of the set while the motion picture was being filmed. It tells you so much about t ...more

I liked learning about how these movies were made. It makes me want to rewatch the movies so I can see some of what was talked about in the book. I didn't know that certain relatives of the movie stars made cameos! There were pictures from filming and lots of interesting, (and sometimes funny) tidbits.

The book I read was Wimpy Kid Movie Diary: How Greg Heffley Made it to Hollywood by Jeff Kinney. The genre is non fiction because it already did happen. The setting takes place in 2009-2012 in Vancouver, Canada. The main characters are the film makers, Zach, Robert, and the rest of the set. In this book, Jeff Kinney explains how the thre Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies were made. He explained that the movie was not exactly the easiest thing to do. It was basically a behind the scenes look at how the ...more

Couldn't watch the movies, dunno why, may be cuz I prefer mostly that my imaginary characters should remain in our imagination, each one imagined them differently but now they make it on screen and in to films, we won't be able to imagine again without recalling the faces of tv or films.
But the book was wonderful one, felt like watching already

I live this book . I love this book because it is funny . This shows kids how to become an actor . Also it teaches kids what it is like to be on the set of a movie . And it shows how to act when you are acting .

I really enjoyed reading this book because it taught me how films are actually made and that filming goes on under all circumstances and I loved the way they make the movies and all that. It was such a great book !!

This is a great look behind the scenes - both at what goes into making a movie like this and the story of the whole process of making the film. Like the best DVD extras - comprehensive without being boring and showing the kind of stuff that's truly fascinating. My 10 year old son loved it.

This book was very entertaining and showed me a lot of things that usually go on in a movie set.

The colored pictures and the reference photos were helpful to in understanding how the movie(s) were created
