This is a great written work from someone who is used to speaking to the public about the very topic of parenting. If you are the type of person who is pulling their hair out from trying to do everything as a parent, then this book will be very interesting and relevent to you. There are many tidbits and words of advice, which are better left unwritten here because it would spoil the book. Definitely take time out to read this one! It is so easy to lose perspective on how to balance life, and Sut ...more

I won a copy of this book through a goodreads giveaway. My rating is very subjective as explained below and would be higher if I had personal interest in the book but I was trying to win it for my mom as she is counsels young mothers and I thought it might help her.

I was thinking this would be a great book for me – sometimes I do take on too much – but then again I’ve also learned to cut back and listen to my children, when they say that we’re too busy I’ve learned to listen. The book is a fast read, which I really appreciated, since I don’t have time to read uninterrupted for days on end and it’s divided into 6 parts:

Faith
Family
Home
Health and Beauty
Balance
It’s a Mom’s World

I do have a couple concerns though, the first is that the author adds a word

I hoped this book would make me feel prepared for when I have kids, but it was really just common sense. None of the reviews mentioned how religiously based this book is, which was a big surprise. The tone of the book was very Christian and included many Bible passages as "proof" that women should be good mothers and good wives to their husbands. I didn't like the passages taken out of context or the entire first section that discussed putting God first and raising children who are religious. Wh ...more

I love the common sense approach. The chapter on no being the new yes was so beneficial to my season of motherhood.
