i most enjoyed this and look forward to the next installment

what i liked . . .
first in a new series . . .lots of world building and character building. it worked. i bought into the entire post-apocalyptic setting.
i bought into the whole gritty and dark survival mode for each of the characters and their 'family'. i was saddened by the harsh reality of the world the author created.

Too short!

I really enjoyed the world-building here and seeing the life the survivors created after the virus wiped most of the world. Sadly, I've noticed in quite a lot of MMF stories that the MM aren't really interested in each other sexually and revolve around the F part. I don't like that so when I read a story that has the MM as engaged into each other as they are with the F I'm a very happy reader. Cities and civilizations are dissertated and the surviving individuals form families and they must raid forgotten towns to find food and other previsions that they need to keep on surviving.

This story primarily revolves Ross, who is pretty much the leader of his “family”. His family first began when he was 14 years old and he stumbled upon two 9 year old friends Jenna and Dorian and since then they have added to their family with individuals that Ross meets on raids. As the years have gone on, Jenna and Dorian have established a sexual relationship together, one that Ross covets as he is secretly in love with Jenna. Before he leaves to go on one of his raids he witnesses Jenna and Dorian in a compromising position and finds that he has confusing feelings for Dorian as well.

I could just feel the loneliness from Ross being on the outside of Jenna and Dorian’s relationship, yearning to have what they have. Each time he goes out, he hopes to find someone for himself. While on a particular raid Ross is severally injured that nudges the 3 of them to accept and come to terms with the love that they feel for each other. The love between the three really develops fast as the book goes, but we are given the info of how the relationships developed through the years that led them to the point that the book starts at. I couldn’t help but feel all squishy inside with how sweet the love is between Ross, Jenna, and Dorian.

I really enjoyed the side characters and loved how open they are and you love who you love. In this world, you can’t turn away from a chance to love and be loved. The bad guys that they encounter are real nasty and it gives the other characters an opportunity to shine, show how they can work together and help defend each other. My only complaint, and this really has nothing to do with the story, is that the story ended when my kindle read 87%. I just wasn’t prepared for it to end yet! But once I got over that shock, I was satisfied with the actual ending and thought it left off at a good point that will bring us to the next book.

This is a novella that I wish was a full length book. The world is intriguing and the brevity of this book left me with more questions than answers. The characters are well fleshed out and the relationships really resonated with me.

I make no secret that I am a huge fan of post-apocalyptic romance. Sadly it's kinda hard to find a good one. Lots of them involve zombies, of which I am not a fan, other worlds and/or steampunk type stuff.

I'm also a fan of menage when a few criteria are met - no blood relations in the same bed. Brothers as part of a menage give me the willies. Ick! Also there needs to be male/male action. Alone with each other and with the female of the group.

Dani Worth delivered and made me very happy! Thank you!

Ross rescued Jenna and Dorian when he was fourteen and they were nine. It appears they survived together before finding a perfect home in New Mexico which they slowly built up by adding other survivors. While the perfection of the home rang really false to me it wasn't so much that I was pulled out of the story. The idea of creating a family of survivors that lived together, worked together and relied on each other is very appealing to me.

This story focuses on how Ross moves from protector to lover for Jenna and Dorian. Keeping his attraction to Jenna secret and confused over his attraction to Dorian, on every supply run Ross looks for a female survivor that he can grow to love and call his own. Yet Jenna and Dorian have noticed the longing, lonely looks Ross thinks he is hiding and are determined to bring him into their relationship.

Because of the shortness of the story I think Ross moves from protector to lover way to fast. Doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the fall though. :) Jenna and Dorian are focused and determined and I enjoyed that as well. The sex between the three was sweet and hot at the same time. In my opinion the relationship ended with a HFN rather than a HEA. For those interested it was a M/M/F relationship with some brief M/M interaction as well.

There were several secondary characters introduced that I wanted to know more about. There are relationships there that need to be explored. So I was kind of disappointed to see that the next installment in this series will be about two new characters with appearances from Ross, Jenna and Dorian. *sigh* Hopefully we'll get glimpses into how everyone else is doing as well.

Again, I enjoyed this book overall. Wish it had been longer and am looking forward to the next Crux Survivors book. Hopefully it will be longer. (less)

Dani Worth is not only one of my favorite authors, she's also one of the few writers of menage stories that I truly enjoy. I've sang the praises of her Kithran Regenesis series, which is sci fi erotica. This new series takes place in a post apocalyptic world where much of the population has been wiped out by disease. I’m not really big on dystopias, but when I read them, I need to know why the world is in its current state. We know that there’s a virus, but we don’t know what caused it or how it spread. Was is a gradual thing? Biochemical warfare? Result of toxins in the water supply? These are things I needed to know!

All these supply-runs, no one thought to pick/look for up a CB radio or walkie-talkies? Could be helpful when they go on runs or search the waves for survivors. Analog always works in dystopias...more

This one was just okay for me. I liked the world Ms. Worth created but would like to know more. Maybe if the book had been longer we could have learned more about the characters too; part of my problem is that I kept getting the characters confused - there were a lot. Also, a few little things bugged me - like they had a gym: in a post-apocolyptic world, where food is scarce and you're fighting to survive, you work out? The end was abrupt. Post Apocalyptic Novella with an erotic menage relationship. Loved it...What a great start to a new series!

For a novella and the first in the series, Dani Worth balances the world building, character development and romance perfectly - throwing a little action and humour in along the way, it is not pretty, it's dangerous and they are constantly on a knifes edge, their lives and home could so easily be destroyed by one small mistake or bad decision. I liked how they all had a place within the family and we learnt the 'hows' and 'whys' of what brought them all together, it left me wanting to know more - to know where this story was going to take me next.

We arrive in this Post Apocalyptic World 17 years after the Crux virus has taken out most of the Worlds population. What is left are towns and cities devastated by neglect, with subsequent looting and damage caused by survivors with no thought for what remained of mankind - It was a kill or be killed situation for most, with many preferring to take their own lives, than live in what had now become an existence with no hope. The virus had not only destroyed the population but had taken humanity in its wake.

Ross at the age of 14 finds two 9 year olds, Darian and Jenna, sick, starving, frightened and all alone living in a basement. His instinct to protect these two vulnerable children is the start of their journey, spending years evading danger and death, finding others also lost to the devastation along the way, they eventually, as a family, find a place to call home.

When we first meet Ross my heart was breaking for him - Selflessly he has poured all of his love into making a home and a family, where there was previously no hope! and now after years of hoping that HE would find a woman to share his heart with, he has resigned himself to the fact that he will forever be alone, with the Crux virus being more virulent amongst women, there are very few and any that have survived are usually brutalized and raped!

Darian and Jenna, who are now a couple and Ross, their hearts so emotionally bound, their love for each other never in question. But Ross was their protector and when he began to see the two people he loved more than anything in the world with desire and need, his conscience and sense of responsibility threw up a wall he was not prepared to cross. Darian and Jenna on the other hand have a different idea, and they are going to find it hard to convince this honourable man they both love, that his place is really with them.

The camaraderie and humour that follows their seduction and the effect it had on the family as a whole left me chuckling on more than one occasion - and the m-m-f sex and relationship was WOW ~ HOT!! His virgin status was well and truly vanquished! This part of the relationship was wonderfully executed from my point of view as an m-m reader. The focus of the relationship was not Jenna, but Ross. So there is some hot and heavy action between Ross and Darian as well as all Jenna.

This book finished at 87% and I have to say I was a little disappointed....I wanted more! It is however left perfectly to follow on to the next book, I for one can't wait.

Yet another great story from Ms Worth. The emotional tension between the characters, the high stakes outside of their relationships, how they made it all work. Also the growing attachments between the other survivors and something left unresolved that I can't wait to find out about in the next book. Once I started reading I couldn't stop.

I really really really liked this story! I wish it was longer and I can't wait to read more. I want to know how the trip to find Cadmars family went. I want to know what happened with Georgia, Lynn, and Jake. Maybe we will find out what caused the Crux, maybe we won't. I just like how Ms Worth is building tis new world bit by bit.
