Nekhet is the sequel to the brilliant novel, Reswyt. In Reswyt we learned about a dream-world, a place where the dreaming minds of children congregate in peace...except they don't. Summary: Things have changed in Reswyt since Sabine last came, and that's not a good thing. The Jager are stuck where they are, and hold on defensively. The Queen's army has not only adopted the use of guns, but the Artifex is behind the creation of more dangerous weapons for the Queen's use. And someone in the ranks of the Queen is able to track Sabine- on Earth. Sabine, Josh, and Dylan need to find the truth before it is too late to save Reswyt- and themselves-from destruction.

What I Liked: To me, Nekhet was different. The style and flow of writing was even better than it was in Reswyt. Nekhet was very long- but the events and scenery of the story fit the length of the book. Mr. Mayer's writing matured even more in Nekhet, his prose articulate yet compact throughout the book. The maturation of the characters progressed immensely. In many stories today, characters remain flat and faultless throughout the book. In Nekhet, readers see heroic qualities and devastating faults in almost all of the dynamic characters. Sabine especially undertakes a character transformation. She is brave, sensible, and intelligent, yet not without her faults. The plot was another part of the book that was satisfying to follow. Mr. Mayer doesn't just create a few fight scenes, wrap things up nicely, and leave an opening for another book to follow. No. He opens up the dream-world and delves into the complexity of story unlike any story I've read. Nekhet has plot-twist after plot-twist, keeping readers guessing and hanging on for the contents of the book (I would know, because I read Nekhet in one sitting). Pain, death, annihilation, and betrayal all follow suit in Nekhet. Nothing is as it seems in this book.

What I Did Not Like: There wasn't much that I didn't like. I found several very, very, small grammatical and spelling errors that I feel most people would miss anyway. Also, there are scenes in the book that start off with "she" or "he", not giving a name to the person. It's sometimes difficult to discern who the person in the scene is, especially since when this happened, most of the characters could be found in the dream-world. However, by the end of the scene I was able to figure out who I was reading about.

Would I Recommend It: YES! Do yourself a favor and buy Nekhet. Or Reswyt, if you haven't read it yet. A good age range is 14 and up.

Rating: 5 stars, 10 stars, a million stars. If you were confused at the end of Reswyt, don't worry. Any questions you had will be most likely be answered in Nekhet (mine were).

This was an AMAZING sequel! I am really excited to read the next book!

Nekhet is the sequel to Reswyt and I enjoyed it more than the first book. It has more action and adventure. With new weapons being found in the dream world and with a nice twist some enemies making it onto Earth in the awake world. Can Sabine and friends find the enemy before it can hurt or damage them? I wont say cause I wont spoil the book for you.

The characters grow more in this book. I found myself liking them a whole lot more as I read. The plot just got better and better. I love the fight...more

The war in Reswyt rages on in the second installment of the Dreamline series. At the end of the first book, Sabine found the lead box that was meant to house the pendant that allows her to travel to Reswyt. When the pendant is not left in the box, it inhibits sleep. Sabine is finally able to sleep and dream. I don't want to give too much away about her new role in Reswyt, but she manifests as an animal. Dylan also returns to Reswyt as a horse and tries to rally the other horses to fight with the Jager. Sabine has been teaching Josh to use her pendant and how to do magic in Reswyt. There are several new characters in Nekhet and each one plays an important role in the story.

After a tragic death in the Jager camp, they formulate a plan to capture the Queen's Artifex, Moravin. Moravin has been building weapons and guns for the queen. They fear that he is searching for materials to make a larger, more threatening weapon that will destroy the Balance of Reswyt. The plan is to "awaken" him, but his situation on earth has complicated things.

My thoughts....

Once again, I am left feeling like a bumbling idiot! I'm still amazed that a book can leave me speechless. I mean seriously, I can't even form a coherent sentence right now. Dave has produced another STUNNING work of art. The characters are extremely well written and you get to see them grow in this book. I wasn't used to Dave's writing style when I read Reswyt, but now I see the beauty in it. It was much easier now that I knew what kind of flow to expect. The story is told from several of the characters vantage points. I think that was what confused me while reading Reswyt, but now I have come to appreciate it. I didn't think that there was any way to top Reswyt, boy was I dead wrong!! Nekhet is an exhilarating roller coaster of action and adventure that has left me wanting! I'm sharing a comment from Facebook with you because it is exactly how I feel. "I envy anyone's ability to read this book for the first time. It is so moving, and so beautiful and so...GOOD." -Erin. It's safe to say that I have found my new favorite author.
