This was featured recently in the local newspaper, in an article about good gift books for children. Since I enjoy ballet, I picked it up. It's a gorgeously photographed study of Fiona, a young teen selected to play the role of Clara in the Boston Ballet's production of The Nutcracker. Ever wanted to be a ballerina? This book is a beautiful and inspiring portrait of a real life girl pursuing her dream to becoming a ballerina and scoring the lead role in The Nutcracker. Complete with dozens of full color photographs that bring to life the hard work and artistry that go into creating the magical world of the ballet.
A nice glimpse into the behind-the-scenes of one girl's journey playing Clara in The Nutcracker. This book would be great for aspiring ballet dancers or to share with kids about to go see the show. It would have been strengthened by some back matter (a glossary of ballet terms, a list of books for further reading).
