DragonBreath: Fairies Gone Bad By: Ursula Vernon

When Danny wakes up to music in the night he sees a glow from an mushroom ring. His mom walked into the mushroom ring. Danny thought “This is probably a dream. I'll see if she’s here tomorrow.” Danny wakes up with no sign of her being there. He calls his friends, Wendell and Christiana to help him. They all go to Danny's Grandpa’s house because Grandpa knows about Fairies. They get all sorts of tips like the fairies love spoon...more

Part-graphic novel, part chapter book, this is an entertaining and somewhat educational story about an adolescent anthropomorphic dragon, his iguana pal, and a girl lizard. It's the seventh book in the Dragonbreath series by Ursula Vernon.

This was a fun story featuring Danny, Wendell, and Christiana going on an adventure to Faerie to save Danny's mother. This story seems to have less silly humor and more drama than some of the earlier tales.

We borrowed this book from our local library. The sto...more

I wouldn't have pictured fairies coming into the Dragonbreath series, but these aren't the delicate, adorable ones. Oh no, indeed. These are the mom-kidnapping kind. With a little help from great-grandfather, Wendell, and Christiana, Danny is off to rescue his mom. What's especially funny, though, is seeing Christiana run into situations she can't explain scientifically. Well, that and the rhyming curse. This series is consistently clever. More, please!

This is the seventh book of the Dragonbreath series and its just as entertaining as the others. Danny Dragonbreath's mother has been captured by the fairies and its up to Danny, his friends Wendall and Christina to get her out. Wonderful story and even better illustrations by Ursula Vernon. Always an adventure with Danny.

Danny Dragonbreath and his friends learn a thing or two about the truth behind fairy tales, the dangers of ticking off magical creatures, and the effective use of silverware in one more funny romp in this comic/text hybred series.

So. Funny.

Also, this ties together several of my favorite things: classic fairy tale motifs, fantastic dialogue, and character development. I loved it!

Vernon does a terrific job of balancing humor, action, and fantasy, particularly in the faerie realm. Another great addition to the Dragonbreath series!
Carl Nelson
In this seventh volume, the Danny Dragonbreath series continues to entertain with cute stories, likeable characters, and dry wit.
Fuzzybelly
That was one of the best books i have ever read out of the series! Especially the Cat sidhe.
Heather
Thoroughly enjoyed this one-- very funny, and very well-paced.

Not one of my favorites. This would probably be on the same line as No Such Thing As Ghosts...wasn't crazy about that one either. Still has some nerd humor though. :P
Jessica
Sam liked it, but I think it gave him nightmares.
Rosanna
Reading this one with my 6-year old son. We are loving it so far.
Katie
Brandon still loves this series.
Ashley
The Dragonbreath series continues to amuse and entertain me. Danny's Mom is kidnapped by some rotten little fairies, so it's up to Danny, Wendell, and Christiana to travel to fairyland (via the magic bus route of course) for the rescue. Highlights include a phone conversation with Danny's Grandfather, a fairy curse placed on Christiana (who thinks she's dreaming their entire adventure), a clever fox, and spoon obsession. Fun for the whole family!

I've come to the conclusion that these Dragonbreath books have one major flaw: they're just too darn short. At least Ms. Vernon has been keeping the sequels coming at a nice steady rate. Oh, and the title is something of a misnomer; the fairies don't exactly GO bad, they're just naturally nasty and unpleasant (to put it mildly).
