Fountas-Pinnel Guided Reading: N/A
Main Characters: Lawn gnomes, Jay, Elliot
Setting: The setting takes place in Jay’s new neighborhood.
POV: The story is told from Jay’s point of view.

The book is about Jay moving to a new neighborhood because he has caused too much trouble in his old neighborhood that his family is forced to leave. His parents are tired of his little antics and bad behavior. However, the new town Jay moves to is strange to him. Something is not right and he can sense it. He wonde...more

Jay has just moved to a new town with his parents and sister. Almost immediately, things get weird. For one thing, there are lawn gnomes EVERYWHERE. And if you turn away for a second, the gnomes are in different positions or even different places. And people don't go out at night.

When Jay starts questioning this, no one will tell him anything. He gets a lot of evasions and mumbled "You know..." but he doesn't. What's wrong with the town?

When I was younger, I read a lot of R.L. Stine novels. I wa...more

Jay is not a particularly good kid. He's really mean to Mr. McClatchy, his new neighbor, playing small tricks on him like leaning a ladder up against his house and putting trash in his mail box. His dad has little patience with him, since we find out later in the book that Jay's behavior is what caused the family to have to move. Jay is kept on kind of a tight leash, but keeps getting in trouble. He meets Elliot and befriends him, but the two end up in quick sand, barely surviving, especially af...more

Planet of the Lawn Gnomes is the first in a new (yes NEW) Goosebumps series. I know right? Kudos to R.L. Stine for keeping the Goosebumps series going though!

For the record, lawn gnomes are creepy. Like seriously, they're creepy. Almost as creepy as those angel statues people have in their yards sometimes where it looks like they're looking into a pond? Yeah, creepy. What's up with those?! So I personally thought this book was going to up the creep factor based on the fact that it had lawn gnom...more

Jesus help me, I used to love these books. Every month, on the day the new one would be released, I’d beg my mom to take me to the bookstore so that I might fork over my four bucks and be transported into whatever weird fucking thing R.L. Stine had dreamed up that time. The books were never enough, though. It was like I had to pledge my life to Goosebumps. If there was a calendar, a crappy television show, a cheap reading light, or spin off series, I had to have it.

Imagine my joy when I discover...more

When I was a tween, I loved Goosebumps. I read them whenever I could, and I just thought R.L. Stine was the best author ever. His plotlines were just crazy enough to entice and glue my middle school self to the pages, and I liked that they were a little bit scary with a little touch of chill, though they never gave me nightmares. And the covers, with the ooze? I loved them. I loved to touch them and I had a small collection on my bookshelf… at one point I actually planned to begin with book 1 an...more

Planet of the Lawn Gnomes is an interesting read with many twists and turns I didn't see coming. It takes a long time for the story to get going but once it does, the wait is worth it. It's humorous and slightly scary, but never too much. At times some of the protagonist's actions may seem far fetched but hang on because they will all make sense in the end. I would recommend this book to children and anyone interested in a creative tale about gnomes. You may however, find the narration slightly...more

Young and old alike will enjoy this new series. Scary, creepy and suspenseful it will leave you wondering who else will turn up on R.L. Stine's Most Wanted list.

Jay is a 12-year-old boy who loves doing science experiments. Despite his efforts to be good, Jay finds himself in all kinds of trouble and the Lawn Gnomes are just the beginning.

This was my first time reading a Goosebumps book. My youngest son has read every single one and now I know why he has loved them so much.

R.L.Stine was one of my favourite authors when I was growing up so when I saw this book on netgalley I jumped at the chance to read it. This bookR.L.Stine was one of my favourite authors when I was growing up so when I saw this book on netgalley I jumped at the chance to read it. This book was everything I remembered and loved about R.L.Stine. The horror in the book seemed a bit more predictable to me but this might be due to the fact I am a lot older than the intended reading age for these book...more

At the beginning of this story, the introduction was great. R. L. Stine led me straight to his "office" and started telling me the story right away. The story that he told was also wonderful. It was both interesting and suspenseful. However, when the story ends, it leaves questions unanswered. I also felt as if the story went from slow-paced to fast-paced. Maybe if the ending had changed a bit, the story would have been a little bit better.

I've never read Goosebumbs as a kid but this one seemed interesting to me. It was a great story, and it's so short it gives no time for any boring moments. The best part is it had a great twist that left me jaw dropped. This story really brought out my inner kid and will more more of these in the future.

Just as good as I remember. Goosebumps was one of my favorite series growing up. I don't remember reading this one but it had the same wonderful feel I remember from years ago.

My kids loved this book and I have to admit I did not see the ending coming. I enjoyed almost as much as the kiddos. R.L. Stine really knows how to bring it!

R.L. Stine has a way of making the simplest of objects terrifying. In Planet Of The Lawn Gnomes, we meet Jay. He and his family move to this strange neighborhood, where everyone has a lawn gnome in their yards. Jay quickly realizes something is strange about these lawn gnomes. He doesn’t have a clue of how right he is.
R.L.Stine keeps you guessing until the very end. I still find myself wondering if Jay is who he believes he is or if he’s something else. And did he really live where he thought?
