All of life is here in Global Model Village—from the lowest low-rise views of Manhattan to the scorched flagstones of Marrakech, from West London to the West Bank. A tiny mother and child bustle through a dusty township in Cape Town, while a miniature informant whispers in a telephone booth in Beijing. Global Model Village showcases pieces by British artist Slinkachu who creates miniature scenes within various landscapes around the world using models alongside everyday objects.

The book has an beautiful layout where a full view of the artwork’s location is shown on one page followed by a close up of the artwork on the next. As I made my way through the book I found myself trying to spot where the miniature artworks were hidden within the first photographs as some were much less obvious than oth...more

Quite a thought provoking book of art. The artists shows us the big picture and follows with a closeup containing a miniature staged scene. Each has a caption relative to the scene that may inspire thoughts beyond both. The pictures are enjoyable and must have taken quite some time to...more

I love reading I Spy books with my kids, which is probably why I was drawn to this book.

The photos are terrific - from different cities all over the world - the first is the main photo and then the second photo shows a miniature scene that you wouldn't maybe have noticed the first time around. Many of them are cute or funny, some sad.

I loved Natural Selection and Damn Kids.

Anyway, this is a book that you should leave out in your living room to read over and over, and to notice new things each...more

The dual-perspective visuals are imaginative. The concept is frightening: tiny persons against a backdrop of massive structures. The photographic imagery is impressive. Multiple settings include the USA, Netherlands, China, Russia, Italy, Hong Kong, Germany, France, Greece, Morocco, South Africa, Portugal, Israel, United Kingdom, Barbados, Qatar, and Palestinian territories.

What a trip around the world! I checked this book out from the library, but now I want to buy it. The pictures are so much fun, and so telling. Within minutes of finishing my first perusal, I shared it with my sons and then my partner. I want to see more of Slinkachu's work. What a good read!

What a fun book, and rather surreal! The artist, Slinkachu, customizes stock miniature figures, places them in street scenes around the world, then photographs them. The resulting images and captions provide commentary on life in those places.

Really great photography book. I loved the way the miniature subjects were juxtaposed beside the larger landscapes in the photos. It was really unique.

I glanced over this book on the display when I first saw it but then it, fortunately, a coworker pointed it out to me. Fascinating and incredible.

A very cool little book. This man's perspective of things is REALLY interesting and creative. Definitely must flip through this one.
