Captured Heart is a Scottish romance with bits of paranormal and a lot of action.

The heroine, Meg Boswell, is fleeing England from the man who wrongly accused her mother of witchcraft and had her burned at a witch’s pyre. She rides to Scotland seeking to reach her aunt’s home in Scotland, accompanied by her pet wolf, her mother’s healing journal, and her bow & arrow. On the way there, she meets a group of highlanders battling English soldiers. During the scuffle, she saves the life of a man...more

I love a good Scottish Highlander story and this one didn’t disappoint. Meg Boswell is on the run because her father is on his way home to have her “examined” to see if she’s a witch. Meg’s a healer with some added magical abilities and she doesn’t want to meet the same fate as her mother. She’s headed for Scotland to find and stay with her aunt, her mother’s sister, but as she nears the border, Meg comes upon a skirmish between some Highlanders and English soldiers. She unwittingly saves the Ma...more

This story wraps loyalty, betrayal, treason, kidnapping, romance, witches, history and those magnificent Highland warriors all into one glorious read. I could simply not put it down and read it in one sitting. This is the third book by Heather McCollum that I've read and I must say I will keep reading her books as long as she keeps writing them !

Really enjoyable -- it's been a long time since I've read a Scottish kidnapping romance, but this book reminded me why I love that trope so much.

Full review to follow, but for now, 4.5/5

Every now & again I stumble across a story that is simply a joy to read. Captured Hearts was one of those rare stories.
Meg is fleeing to Scotland to escape charges of witchcraft. She is running from the same man who had her mother put to the fire for witchcraft. Sadly that man is Meg's own father. Hmm.... well, maybe.
She crosses paths with Caden who has come to England on a secret mission. Driven by duty to his clan Caden has sworn to end the feud that threatens to annihalate his people. H...more

Recommends it for: anyone who loves historical romances
Meg Boswell is riding her horse towards the Scottish border with only her bow and arrows and her pet wolf Nickum as protection. She's running from her father whom she hasn't seen in years, not since he accused her mother of witchcraft and had her burned at the stake.

Meg knows she is different, and she also knows that the only reason her father is now writing to her is so she too can be tested for witchcraft. Her mother's sister is married to the Laird of Clan Munro in Scotland so that's where M...more

Finding new authors to share with you all is one of the joys of Tea and Book. As you know, Tea and Book was set up for just this reason, to share exciting reads from new authors. I know there are always authors to be discovered but it is such a high when we find on that is jut amazing. I was thrilled when Netgalley sent me Captured Heart. I was prepared to like it on the premise alone.. Sexy Highlanders, Magic, A Damsel in Distress, A mysterious secret and oh yeah did I mention Sexy Highlanders?...more

Captured Heart by Heather McCollum is a wonderful addition to the many Highlander books that I love. In this particular sub genre you can either go for gold or be really cheesy. This book is definitely gold.

Running for her life Meg Boswell has to get to her aunt in the Northern Highlands. Her mother was burnt as a witch and Meg has every reason to believe that she is about to suffer the same fate. She can only hope that she will make it there safely and will be welcomed as she’s never met her m...more

Part way through reading this book I was ready for it to end. It increasing became a slow and painful torture; like a cavity that keeps getting worse.

I thought the fictional quality of this historical read would make it more interesting, but was sadly mistaken. After so long it just became too typical and predictable. I let out a sigh of relief when it was finally over. 2 stars.

A solid highlander romance.

I liked Caden and Meg. They're endearing characters.
The romance was good and the action too.

The reason for 4 stars is that I had a feeling that I had already read this story somewhere... It was very similar to other highlander romance stories...

This was my first book written by Heather McCollum. I would definitely purchase another book by this author!

Captured Heart is a heartfelt love story about a woman who is running for her life and a warrior laird doing everything he possibly can to save his clan., being pulled together to finally bring peace to the two enemy clans. This story has everything you want in a Highlander Romance. The big handsome highlander who loved his woman fiercely, the beautiful woman who seems to be helpless and vulnerable yet she’s really a feisty little warrior in her own right and the enemy or in this books case the...more

I am so glad I took a shot on this book. It was such a heartwarming highlander tale. I have to admit I’ve missed my highlanders they are so sexy, loyal and caveman like! On top of that it’s an abduction Highlander tale, I always enjoy a good abduction! LOL. And even more?! Our heroine is a healer! How can you not love healers, their sole reason for being is to help people? They are always so loveable, gentle and always win me over. So I got a tri-fecta with this book.

Meg is our heroine, she is a...more

So, so good!
I loved this book!
Captured Heart is a delightful historical romance with a hint of paranormal, a mix that works out beautifully.

The story is interesting. Meg runs away to Scotland to escape her father, a man who had her mother tried and burned for witchcraft and could be planning the same for her. On the way, she meets Caden and a lovely partnership arises. But, of course, there are secrets involved, polit...more

I fell in love with this story of Highlands Romance and Intrigue!

I was drawn immediately into the story and 16th century Scotland. Heather McCollum's writing style just flows beautifully and made it enjoyable from start to finish.

It begins with Meg fleeing from the father she does not know that was responsible for her mother's death. He is coming after her to determine if she is a "witch" like her mother and marry her off to some Englishman. Meg is strong and determined to ride alone with her h...more

Meg Boswell has always known she was different. Meg is a healer. She lost her mother, who was burned because she was believed to be a witch, as a young child and has been raised by her aunt and uncle. When she receives word that her estranged father is coming to get her, have her tested for witchcraft, and then marry her off, she decided to run. Taking off on her horse Pippin with her wolf Nikkum, she set off towards the Highlands of Scotland where her mother's sister lives. With a few provision...more

Set in 16th century Scotland Heather McCollum's writing is able to vividly transport us with imagery and characters that draw you in and make you feel like your in the Highlands with them.

Anyone who is a healer in this time period had reason to fear that they could be accused of witchcraft and tortured and burned, Meg has even more reason than most because not only had her mother been accused and burned as a witch but she has a little extra gift that makes her fear for her life.

Caden is the Macb...more

I do love me a hot Scottish Highlander, and this book definitely has a hot Scottish Highlander. Actually, it has several rather hot Scottish Highlanders, but that’s not all that it’s got. This first book in McCollum’s newest series is filled with mystery, romance, magic, humor, adventure, and more. And did I mention sexy kilted Highlanders? =^.^=

Meg Boswell is running for her life. Her father has sent word that he is coming for her. "Captured Heart" by Heather McCollum is book 1 of 2 in the Highland Hearts (McCollum) series. I love reading this story of a Scottish Historical 'Highlands'Romance and its Intrigue. We find that Meg Boswell who is a 'healer' is on the run because her father thinks she is a witch and is going to have her examined. Meg doesn't want the same fate that happen to he...more

Yes I did! Read another Historical Romance and guess what? I really enjoyed it! I am so happy I decided to start back into reading HR these past couple of months because I have really discovered quite a few new books that I have fallen in love with. Captured Heart is the latest one that I think is just a wonderful epic like adventure.

Meg Boswell is on the run, looking for her aunt and trying to escape a father who wants to kill her for being a witch. Trouble is she is a healer with a special gif...more

A sweet Scottish Romance with just a hint of paranormal.

This is the story of Caden MacBain, chief of clan MacBain, and Meg Boswell, niece to the MacBain's fiercest enemy, the Munro's. It's just barely a Historical-Paranormal, although really the paranormal aspect was very small and limited to only one main character. I found it to be a really sweet and sexy story and I will definitely be reading more from this new (to me) author.

It was also quite a quick read; I probably could have happily read...more

Ahhhh another lovely Highlander steals my heart with his sexiness.

Meg is running away from what will most assuredly be her death at the hands of her father. You see she has a gift that in most people's eyes would lead her to death by burning as a witch. She's a sweet person and very very strong to have withstood the horrible death of her mother at this man's hands. She can hunt with the best of them and protect herself from most attacks but when she meets our hero all bets are off. She needs to...more

Meg Boswell was fleeing for her life when she came upon a Battle and a strong and handsome highlander. Could he possibly be able to help her reach her destination in the Highlands? The McBain Laird could not believe the goddess in front of him was not a vision of his imagination. He had been on a mission to save his clan instead he was gifted with this encounter.

Caden and Meg' s story was enthralling. Loved this book in the series. I look forward to the other books in this series.

Thank you authors for historical romances where no one gets raped by the 'hero', the female lead is strong, and there is more than an unwillingness for the characters to talk to each other standing in the way of a happy ending.

A tame wolf, magical healing ability, tense relations between England and Scotland, a Laird trying to save his people, and a woman trying to escape her evil father. Made for an interesting, fun light read.

First Thought when finished: Captured Heart was a fantastic historical romance that made me swoon several times. I think all historicals should make you do that at least once :)

The main problem with this book: bad narration. Michelle Ford wasn't able to make this story come alive. Her Scottish accent and her male voices were terrible. This is a historical romance with a fantasy twist since our heroine has some healing powers that come from a blue energy ball she's able to create at will. That combination didn't work for me. Their romance wasn't really passionate either so there really wasn't anything good enough to keep my interest.
