I Am Number Four: The Lost Files: The Legacies is an omnibus containing the 3 novellas in the series so far (Six's Legacy, Nine's Legacy and The Fallen Legacies). I really was excited when they released this omnibus because I didn't want to shell out $3.99 for each novella. The Legacies is an excellent companion to the Lorien Legacies because it helped me understand Number Six, Number Nine and Mogadorians better.

For those of you who haven't read I Am Number Four or seen the awesome movie with Alex Pettyfer, I'll give you a bit of info. A planet called Lorien was destroyed by an evil species of aliens called Mogadorians (Mogs) and Lorien's few survivors have fled to Earth. The survivors of Lorien have powers called legacies and are called Garde. A charm was cast so that the Garde could only be killed in order as long as they stay apart. That was enough info dumping for one review!

Six's Legacy was an interesting novella because Six is one of my favorite characters in the series. We find out alot more about who Six is and how her past affected her. Six is just of one of those characters that is so kick ass that you can't help but like her. Six's Legacy was a really intense and action packed novella that I really enjoyed. It was really interesting to see how different Six's personality was in Six's Legacy compared to in I Am Number Four. Six's Legacy made me realize why I love Number Six so much and I really hope she is a major part of book 4.

Nine's Legacy was as action-packed and emotional as Six's Legacy. I didn't enjoy Nine's Legacy as much as Six's Legacy because frankly Six is a more interesting protagonist. Nine's back story was an intense story that told of Nine's journey before Rise of Nine and it was a pretty remarkable story. I really didn't like Maddy at all and I couldn't feel sorry for her no matter what. Nine wasn't as cold and arrogant in this novella like he was in Rise of Nine and I definitely liked #9 in this novella.

The Fallen Legacies is definitely the most thought-provoking of all 3 novellas. The Fallen Legacies is told from the point of view of a young Mogadorian. Our protagonist of The Fallen Legacies is a young Mogadorian who starts to question everything he has been taught. This novella was my favorite of the three because it was very diverse from the other novels and we were introduced to Numbers 1, 2, and 3. #1 was definitely a fascinating character and I hope somehow she makes an appearance in future novels.

As a whole, The Legacies was a very entertaining and informative read. I really enjoyed how we learned of Six and Nine's backstory which helped the reader understand both characters better. As I expected Lore wrote 3 fast paced novellas that really were engaging. If you have read any of the books in the Lorien Legacies series I recommend you pick up this omnibus. If you haven't read I Am Number Four I suggest that you read it!(less)

The book I am Number Four:The Legacies:The Lost Files by Pittacus Lore describes the adventures of three different teenagers from a different planet and their struggles to survive. Both number four and number nine have their stories told after their planet Lorien was destroyed by another alien race called the Mogadorians. Number four, who is also known as Kelly, and her care taker Katarina continuously battle against the Mogadorians in order to survive. This is the same for number nine, with the alias Stanley, and his care taker Sander. However the end of the story is an account of the son of the Mogadorian general, who tries to kill people like Kelly and Stanley. The difference is that he has a change in heart and believes what his family and race is doing is wrong.
This novel would best fall into the category of science fiction because all of the main characters are not from Earth and are considered aliens. The use of advanced technology that does not exist in the world today supplies evidence for categorizing this as science fiction. In addition, the characters all used space travel to reach earth which also falls into the category of science fiction. These facts along with the book being written in the future make this story best fit in the genre of science fiction.
The reason this is a New York Times best seller is most likely because of its appeal to young adults as the book is written through the eyes of three teenagers. The teenagers in the book all struggle not only with conflicts that teenagers today are confronted with, but far greater conflicts as well. Some of the characters in the novel are very relatable to teenagers today. The popularity of this novel among teenagers may be due to the characters, action or suspense.
I would recommend this book to those who enjoys and have an interest in reading science fiction books. The relevant teenage characters in the story along with the numerous action scenes may intrigue readers. Overall, it is a very well written best seller and should interest many people for a variety of reasons.

Four month ago when I read this, I felt strongly about writing some deeply insightful literary criticism about the series and about Pitticus Lore’s writing style. Now of course, I don’t remember any of that. I will say that if you are a fan of the series, I definitely recommend reading this. Six’s story isn’t particular exciting as it is mostly covered in the other books. Nine’s story and the fallen legacies help fill out and supplement the overall plot. I really enjoyed this book while I was reading it. It is a really good book. The story line is great for the last two stories. But the first story is ok. The characters are well fleshed out. The book is very describing. It has lots of figurative language in it. The book uses figurative language such as similes, metaphors etc. I would recommend this book this book to people from 6th grade and up. The book is a very good book.

I honestly did not know what to expect when I bought I Am Number Four: The Lost Files by Pittacus Lore. Six and Nine's background stories but I think the addition of The Fallen Legacies was a game changer. Anyway, the book focuses more on Six and Nine plus Adamus/ Adam a Mog with a heart.

Amazing. Completely amazing. The Legacies are split into three stories. All three can be bought on any e-reader, but due to complaints from I Am Number Four fans about not having e-readers, this limited edition book was released containing Six's Legacy, Nine's Legacy, and The Fallen Legacies.

This one in The Lost Files, I really liked. The book comprises three of the separate "Lost Files" stories that came out earlier, so you save money buying this one instead of each one separately.
The stories it includes are: Six's Legacy, Nine's Legacy and The Fallen Legacies.

I can't describe how I'm feeling right now. It's a mixture of gratefulness for being able to read this book; quiet contentment in finally understanding the characters; learned helplessness for the inevitable doom of Numbers One, Two and Three; and deep sadness for the many other deaths that had occurred. The story was beautifully written but I can't help but feel dejected by the events that had happened to the Garde.

In Six's story we get to see a younger Six that is much more vulnerable and not as tough as the Six we have come to know. We see her life with her Cepan Katarina. We see how they were captured and how Katarina died. Reading her story made me understand why she is the way she is after all she went through.

This prequel of sorts is split into three sections. The first tells Six's history, the second tells Nine's, and the third - surprisingly - is the story of a young Mogadorian.

(view spoiler)[Basically, Six's story only lasts less than a hundred pages, because there isn't much to tell other than what we already know, which is that her and Katarina liked to move around a lot. Six and Katarina are caught by the Mogs, where Katarina is tortured until they decide to kill her. Six discovers her invisibility legacy and uses it to escape, but not before exacting revenge on the Mog who killed her Cepan. And that's it.

Nine's story, on the other hand, was so interesting, probably because he is one of my favourites. We see how Nine and Sandor lived in Chicago for five years without being caught. Nine evades a Mogadorian while out on a routine jog, but Sandor decides to stay until the threat is greater. Nine joins a gym where he meets a cute girl. They begin dating, but their relationship is cut short when the Mogs show up and take part in an insane car chase. It turns out that the girl is working with the Mogs to trade Nine for the safety of her parents. However, even though she turns Nine and his Cepan in, Nine has to suffer the horror of watching her be reunited with her parents right before the three of them are killed by a Piken. Sandor is subsequently tortured until Nine is able to kill him out of mercy. We then see the part where John eventually shows up and saves him.

And finally, we also get a glimpse into what it is like to be the son of a Mogadorian leader. Adam, like every other of his species, is intent on seeing every last Garde wiped out, until he witnesses the death of Number One and changes his entire outlook on life. After being hooked up to a machine that will supposedly allow him to see into One's memories, Adam is put into a coma that lasts three whole years. When he wakes up, he still sees One, even though others can't. After failing to help Number Two escape the same fate as One, Adam and One spend the next two years devising a plan to take down the Mogadorians. In Kenya, Adam tries to help Three this time, but is confronted by his sort-of brother, Ivan. Adam knocks Ivan unconscious and runs to Three's aid, but his father, the general, kills Three. A now conscious Ivan comes up behind Adam and pushes him over a ravine. The chapter ends with Adam flitting in and out of consciousness, with One urging him to wake up and keep fighting. What I Thought

Well, first of all, I thought that is was nice to see what Six's life was like prior to meeting Four, but unnecessary. I didn't feel like I was obtaining any new information about her. That chapter could have been reserved for someone I was really curious about, like Eight for example.

I was very satisfied with the section about Nine. I liked seeing more of his kick-ass crib, as well as his relationship with his Cepan, Sandor. Because Nine comes across as kind of mysterious in The Rise of Nine, this gave me a glimpse at why he is how he is. (view spoiler)

And as for the final chapter, I loved it. What a great idea to integrate a new point of view from the perspective of a teenage Mogadorian. And I especially liked how (view spoiler)(less)

Commentary and Comparison: You don't have to read the rest of the series to enjoy this book, but I highly recommend it. I especially loved the ending of Nine's Legacy when Nine was just having such a great time killing the Mogadorians after his escape from Mogadorian prison. I also loved the part at the end of the Fallen Legacies when Adam was pushed into a deep ravine and he woke up on a beach with One, which was like his heaven, since the he said all of the sudden, it was like he was in two places at once, one where it was painful, and the other on the California beach. One kept telling Adam to wake up, but in the end, Adam said he didn't think he could. Comparing this book to the original series, I don't like it at much as the actual books, but I guess thats because it's not the actual story I've been reading, it's just side stories. One thing the author could improve is he could've made it so when Nine first sees Setrakus Ra, he doesn't immediately know who he is. I find that a little cheesy.

Favorite Quotes:

Pg. 214 " 'You know what you have to do,' He says.
'I can't. I won't.' " The first speaker in this passage is Nine's Cêpan, Sandor. The second speaker is Nine. Sandor is telling Nine to kill him, since the Mogadorians are torturing him anyway. I love how this shows Sandor is not afraid to die and it shows Nine's devotion to his Cêpan.

Pg. 351 " 'Wake up and fight,' Begs One 'Please, Adam'
I don't know if I can." This passage is said at the very end of the book, when Adam finds himself on the California beach with One, and One keeps telling Adam to wake up and rebel against his people once again. I like this passage because it is very sad and it just leaves you thinking.

Pg. 82 "I choose vengeance" This is thought by Six when she finally escapes from her jail cell, and she has to choose between avenging her Cêpans death, or escaping the Mogadorian compound she is in and she chooses revenge. I love how this shows how she was so upset and angry at the Mog that killed her Cêpan, that after going so long without seeing natural light, she chooses vengeance over freedom.

I thought this book was amazing, it gave us a back story into characters that you wouldn't think you would get and it shows the author is willing to go to such extremes to show his character development

Six is a boss, but her story seemed to boring for me, i felt so bad for her but it wasn't as actioned packed as Nines!, i can see why she is a warrior princess and it was a different story that Fours (lived peacefully moving a lot)

Hadn't heard of this series until this volume -- which collects several shorter pieces originally published as e-books that kind of flesh out non-central aspects of the overall series -- was given to my kid this past December. I'm not in any hurry for him to read it, given some of the brutal violence in certain scenes, but I thought I'd give it a go myself. I didn't read the stories in order, I started with The Fallen Legacies first because I was really curious about how Numbers One, Two and Three were discovered and annihilated. Imagine my surprise when I found out the entire story was told in a Mogadorian's point of view! I was expecting a recap of the Garde members' final moments but was instead introduced to a Mogadorian who, despite being the son of a very powerful and controlling General, had lost sense of his purpose and had begun to sympath...more I didn't read the stories in order, I started with The Fallen Legacies first because I was really curious about how Numbers One, Two and Three were discovered and annihilated. Imagine my surprise when I found out the entire story was told in a Mogadorian's point of view! I was expecting a recap of the Garde members' final moments but was instead introduced to a Mogadorian who, despite being the son of a very powerful and controlling General, had lost sense of his purpose and had begun to sympathize with his sworn enemies. But I wasn't all too surprised that he had been easily persuaded to leave his cause. From the very first statement I knew he'd be a total softie who'd eventually come to the realization that the Loriens weren't the bad guys on Earth.

I found it very disappointing though that he hadn't been much use to Numbers One, Two and Three. He basically hadn't done anything to prevent their deaths; he'd stood idly by and watched them take their final breaths because he was too much of a weak coward to be of any help. He'd bidden his time, thinking that the right time to avenge their Number One and Two's deaths would eventually come. But there wasn't a right time for it, not really, and by the time he'd mustered up the courage to try and help Number Three it had been too late. The Fallen Legacies had come to an unbearably sad conclusion where our Mogadorian hero, Adam, could not be properly identified as dead or alive. I like to think that he'd struggled to stay alive though. And that later I'll discover that he'd been the first to form an organization dedicated to stopping the war and bringing peace to both Earth and Lorien. I wish there were other Mogs like him.

In Nine's Legacy I finally got to see Number Nine's character before he turned into this seemingly-half-crazed maniacal, devil-may-care warrior who took great pleasure in slicing the Mogs to ashes. (Back then he was still arrogant and reckless though -- I think those have been permanently programmed into his system.) I discovered that the reason behind his capture was a human girl named Maddy (oh, just typical for Nine to fall for a human girl and lose his grip on reality and what he's supposed to do) but unlike Sarah, whom I have an obvious distaste in, Maddy was very cool. I know if I'd been in her place I also would've traded Nine in for my parents. That was a pretty desperate time. I couldn't blame her for her blissful ignorance. She wasn't supposed to get caught up in an intergalactic war. But she and her family did, and they were ultimately killed in the end. *Sob* I can't believe Pittacus Lore killed her and kept pretty-much-good-for-nothing Sarah alive. Ugh.

I also cried a little when I found out that the Mogs had captured Nine's Cêpan, Sandor, and tortured for days on end. He was probably the coolest Cêpan ever introduced. He was unbelievably skilled when it came to constructing gadgets and he was also very smart with investing his money and providing a lush, comfortable home for Nine (something that Nine obviously took for granted). He'd taught Nine well when it came his fighting stance and techniques and he gave him rules that were strict, but not too overbearing. He'd even given Nine tips on wooing a girl and had been very supportive of his relationship with Maddy. He was without a doubt really great and it was such a damn shame that he had to die. *Sniffle*

In Six's Legacy I also felt very sorry for Six, after her whereabouts had been tracked by the Mogs and she and her Cêpan Katarina were taken to a Mogadorian base and tortured. (Katarina was successully beaten black-and-blue; Six on the other hand had been protected by the Loric charm and was pretty much unscathed during her imprisonment there.) I was pretty happy though knowing that Six had emerged from her experience strong and determined to reunite with her fellow Garde members and taking the Mogs down one by one. Although she had lost her kind and motherly Cêpan, her ending was the least painful of all the installments in this book and I didn't cry as much.(less)

This book was FANTABULASOME!!!!!!!! Fantastic, fabulous, and awesome put together. It was very, very interesting learning about the mysterious lives of the rest of the Garde I already didn't know. I love this series and after finishing book #3, I was still craving more, so I was happy to come across this companion book. It is a compilation of three short stories: Six's Legacy, Nine's Legacy and The Fallen Legacies. It begins with Six's, which was not very good. 2) NINE'S LEGACY

I have nothing to say except that Nine is awesome. His sad tale makes me love him more... have I told you I hate the Mogs? Cuz I do. They suck. The worst thing about this is his story is just like Four and Sarah's. They both met a girl, had feelings for her, done something stupid, their Cepan tried to move them, they refuse because of their feelings, which ends badly with their Cepan dead. Except Maddy wasn't as lucky as Sarah. And she was a prisoner of the Mogs the entire time! Meh. Blame the Mogs. They're stupid and I hate them all.

3) THE FALLEN LEGACIES

Okay, I take that back. I hate MOST Mogs. But Adam's awesome, even if him trying to save Two and Three ultimately led to their deaths. It doesn't say in the book, but the evidence is there. I don't hate Adam, but don't get me started on the evil Mog Ivan who I want to punch and punch and punch and kill for what he did to Two! Not only that, but he was fourteen! He murdered a kid when he was fourteen! And to top it all off, he pushed Adam off a cliff! Please let him die. Prick.

On the other hand, Ivan-hating over, it was nice getting to know One, Two and Three. Especially One. But I liked Two and Three and literally had to stop myself crying when not just any Mogs but Adam's own FAMILY murdered them. And his Dad punched him in the face for not killing an inoccent twelve/thirteen year old girl who lived in Ireland, had a pet goat, and loved books. Just because. And his Mom was dissapointed in him! Put that on Jeremy Kyle!

I liked exploring the Mogadorian culture - as with every dictator regime (damn Setrakus) there was a lot of indoctrination. It also made me wonder what was happening on Mogadore. There's got to be life there, so what's it like? I think I recall Setrakus killing someone by pulling them through wires or something in one of the main books. Does that mean there's something like labour camps on Mogadore? Where Setrakus and his followers dump other Mogs capable of personal thought? Gah! So many unanswered questions!

I think I liked Fallen Legacies best. It wasn't just a back story, it was the introduction of someone who could actually lead the Mogs to see their ways and make peace. Adam's the proof they're not chained to Ra's book. He's the spark, and that's where fire's are born.

This book originally was only available as an ebook, but has now been put together in one volume. It includes the Lost Files, which consists of the back stories of Six and Nine; and it includes the Legacies, which is what happened to One, Two, and Three. Here, there is a bit of a twist, in which we see some of the story from a Mogadorian viewpoint. This provides an interesting vantage point, and I'm sure will figure in the developing story.

The book is divided into three short stories: Six's Legacy, Nine's Legacy and The Fallen Legacies. To be honest, of the three, I enjoyed the last one.

If you've read I Am Number Four and The Power of Six, then Six's and Nine's story shouldn't be much of a surprise to you.

Calm. I am calm. Okay, let's do this.

Fistly, haven't the Garde lost enough? Just wow. I despise the Mogs. Not because they're evil and are the enemy or whatever. But because the war they are going to have, is absolutely pointless. What do they hope of accomplishing? Conquering Earth, turning it into a wasteland like they did Mogadore and then what?

I loved reading the backstories of Six and Nine. I got to see what their lives were like before they were introduced in the first two books. And the new, unique point-of-view of Adam, a Mog with a heart after basically having his brain meshed with One's. His point of view covers the stories of the first three Garde pretty well. I'd have liked to read individual backstories for each of them as well, but this was good, too. Especially with One's voice in his head. I would like to see more of him s...more

Most books that fall into this category fell forced. Like the author is just trying to pull out another book in their series to make more money. That is not the story (pun intended) with this book. My sister brought me this book. At first, she was hesitant because she was unaware of the existence of this book. She thought this was the first book. This book was a very good in between book for the series and had three different stories in it. The lost legacies was my favorite. I absolutely loved Adamus and hope we get to see him in more books. Interesting. This book gives Six and Nine much more character depth. You see where they're coming from and why they are such hardened warriors and why they hate the Mogs so much.

"The Fallen Legacies" was surprising. I thought it would go on telling us about the legacies in each Garde's perspective. This one's a game-changer. 3 different stories in one book which is this, The Lost Files. First of all, it covered how Number Six deveoped her Legacies, how her Cêpan died, and how she resolved to finding Number Four. After her story, Number Nine's story was told. How he was captured by the Mogs. And lastly, the stories of the 3 Garde who died in the hands of Mogadorians.

I really enjoyed getting some background information on some of the characters we have been introduced to during the main storyline. I enjoyed meeting 6 and 9's cepan's. It was informative to get an idea of some of the challenges they have been through and what they had to endure to keep fighting the mogs. 9's story in particular was very intense.
