Well, I was expecting the worst...but thank God it wasn't the worst of the series (that honor goes to Sweet Persuasion). I knew going in that I wouldn't like the D/s relationship and all that ordering around that it entails, and god help me if the bondage elements got too extreme...but I started this series and stubborn fool that I am I'm determined to see it through!

So..the D/s relationship? Wasn't too bad. Yes, there was ordering around of the "get on your knees" and "take off your clothes" ty...more

Extremely disappointing to me after anticipating Cole's story for so long. Readers who have not followed the series may enjoy it, however, those like myself who have a knowledge of Cole's character from the prior books will be greatly disappointed in how his character changes, the lifestyle he chooses and the woman he ends up loving. I don't know when I've been this angry over a character's story. I'm thankful the series is over. Unbelievable!

What Did I Think? I am on the fence about Sweet Addiction. On one hand I loved the individual relationships with each man (and the smokin hot smexin) but something was just missing. What I'm saying is that the book didn't give me that wow factor. One thing I strongly did not like was the boat scene. (view spoiler)[I hated how supposedly possesive these men are but they can share her with random men. In this case sharing was not caring. Also where did Cole ask permission? Random 'friend' #2 was i...more

SO.
ANGRY.
OH.
MY.
GOD.

It's been a while since I've been this emotionally distraught over a book, but oh my god. This book made me so angry, I have no words.

Banks introduced us to Cole in earlier books, and I immediately fell in love with his character. HEAR THAT? IN LOVE. What she made him go through in this book... *pulls out hair*

The situation:

She re-introduces us to droolworthy, (my future husband *sighs happily*) character, Cole.

She introduces us to ANOTHER awesome (i'd-totally-eat-you-up-so-...more

*le sigh* You know when you have been ‘following’ a character for books and books and books and finally his book comes up and you have a certain expectation of what you would like that character’s HEA to be like…then it doesn’t quite turn out the way you wanted it to? Yeah… *le sigh*

Honestly, I am going to have to do one of my ‘breakdown’ reviews for this book because I am so…*le sigh* about it I’m worried I’ll just vent. And that’s not nice and that’s n...more

Cole Madison has been a character we’ve seen throughout the Sweet series. So I was interested to see what Maya Banks had in store for him. However, I never would have anticipated the events that happened in this book. Banks brings readers another exciting, evocative story that will sure to raise your pulse rate and make your toes curl!

SWEET ADDICTION is written in three parts – Lucas, Cole and then Ren. In each respective section, Banks focuses more on one hero and Ren...more

Review posted: Happily Ever After - Reads

Cole has been in the background of the previous Sweet series books since the beginning. He’s a presence at The House, but rarely does he do anything other than help prepare the women for their dominant partners. He played a larger role in Micah and Angeline’s story when he finally let himself get more emotionally involved, being a part of Micah and Angelina’s relationship. All of that was a substitute for the huge hole that’s been in his life since he wal...more

2.5 marked up as I like the series. This book just didn't work for some reason. Perhaps because it was a rekindling of a past relationship. Perhaps something else. I like the characters but there was a lack of frission and somehow it just didn't hold my interest. It took me weeks to finish, as opposed to the day or two that's usual for the books in this series. And the ending. Not cool! Surprises like that are not good.

I'm looking forward to the next one as this has to be the turnaround point of...more

I LOVE steamy novels!! but this one really disappointed me. The main girl is used like a sex toy, plus the fact she has no brains. She wants to be abused, yes I'm sure there are woman like this but I just found it quite hard to read, and in fact made me so mad, I wanted to write the author. I loved fifty shades, and many other sexy novels. In one part the two main men ( she loves them both) are humiliating her talking about her as if she isn't even there. It really bothered me. I can't believe a...more

I was curious about how the story will end that's why I gave this book a try. This is also the first book of Maya Banks that I read. To tell you the truth it took me a long time to finish it. I can't really wrap my head to the flow of the story. It's not like the other books that you can't close and can't stop reading. I also put it aside and read something else. But somehow I gave it another try and promised to finish it even though I wasn't into it anymore.

I was curious of who will she choose;...more

This was perhaps the most profound and beautifully written book I have ever had the pleasure to read. As a woman who is in the BDSM lifestyle herself, I applauded every single word and sentence which made the paragraphs enticing and gripping. I felt the words become emotions and come to life as a beautiful and wondrous picture was painting in my mind. Maya Banks was dead on with feeling I've felt myself, how the pain and pleasure blend, how much trust you place in your Dom being a submissive. Yo...more

Sweet series was my favorite series of Maya until this book.
The second and third book were extraordinary.Although Angelina and Lyric books was ok and terrible,respectively...but Sweet Addiction was the worst!
I was very excited to read Cole's book, because he was amazing in the previous books.
I've read a great "trio" books, but this one is far far away from this.

Cole looks like a third in his own book!
Yeah, because Ren just thought in Lucas the most part of the book.
Even when she was with Cole, she w...more

First off, I have to say that this the first review I've done even though I've read hundreds of books. I'm just that motivated to express how utterly displeased I am with this book.

The rest of this review does contain spoilers so if you don't want to know more, don't continue reading.

According to the description, you were made to believe that the story would be about Cole and Ren. However, it turns out to be yet another story with a love triangle and worse yet the girl cannot seem to choose wh...more

Sweet Addiction by Mary Banks
Contemporary Romance –April 3rd, 2012

Fans of Maya Banks will love her latest book, especially if they like dominant heroes who will do almost anything to lay claim to the woman they want and make her their own.

Cole is powerful and wealthy but he can’t forget the one woman he left. Ren and Cole were high school sweethearts but when his dominant side showed up in the bedroom and he inadvertently hurt Ren he could not forgive himself and left her.

It is years lat...more

Hmmmm. OK I REALLY wanted to read Cole's story.
He was so mysterious in the previous books and then I find out he has one!

But.....I don't think Banks gave him his story at all. I felt like it was just written because the fans wanted it - not because the author felt his story needed to be told. And that kind of left a bad taste in my mouth.

The book was.....ok. The whole story and setting wasn't particularly believable and I knew where this book was going from pretty much the first chapter. I re...more

Holy Toledo! This book is HAWT with a capital H-A-W-T. I might need a cold shower after this. For serious. For the record, while I have read other books by Maya Banks this is my first foray into this particular series. Coming in at book 6 could have left me wallowing in confusion but I never - not once - was lost with who was who and how they all related to one another.

I know I've said before that I'm not a crier and then I've promptly gone off and read a book that proved me wrong. This book, th...more

This story was so hot my eyebrows were singed. The sex was in your face, one scene after another. And, man, was it so good! Wow, it reminded me of Damon and Serena's relationship (Sweet Persuasion) in that Ren was totally submissive, in and out of the bedroom. But here's the twist: two men were involved; one from her past, the other her current dom whom she's happy with, both vying for her attention and love. Supposedly this is Cole's story, and although he had his opportunity alone with Ren to...more

I read some reviews of this book that really slammed it. I wonder if we read the same book? Maybe the people who slammed the book didn't have experience with dominant/submissive relationships, or even reading about them. It's a great story about a woman who is strong enough to know she wants to submit, and her choice between her current lover, who is the only person to really understand her since her first lover, her other choice. Of course, Cole and Lucas only understand Ren as much as any man...more

Pushing the envelope - that's an understatement

If you are beyond daring, if you dont care about society norms, if 'sharing' a woman and dont bat a lash at extremities in the bedroom and out of it. Ignore this review but keep in mind, my rating is based on my feeling after reading this book.

Bottom line - i wished i never started reading the book- that way i wont be here writing a bad review on it. The relationship is more than unconventional and it rocks you (personally for me, in a bad way) caus...more

I liked the idea much more than the execution. Ren was Cole's first love, and he left her for what I thought was a really immature reason. He never got over her. Ren, while never forgetting him, was able to move and have several successful D/s relationships. She's currently in a fufulling relationship with Lucas, and, wow. Let me just say that the whole 24/7 D/s thing makes no sense to me whatsoever, but Maya Banks did such a great job with Ren and Lucas's characterizations, especially Ren's, th...more

Mild Spoilers contained-- This book was so frustrating! I was excited when I first started reading because I wanted to find out more about Cole. I liked his character in past books and wanted him to get his HEA. He treated some of the other women in the series with such care and I knew he was a keeper.

Things started out good--he was getting his second chance with his long-lost love. I loved how things were developing with them as they reunited and rekindled their love. But then he started going...more

2nd erotica, BDSM novel I read and I can't help comparing it with Fifty Shades of Grey (the trilogy). Now I know why they criticized it as a badly-written BDSM. This one is beautifully written. Yes, there were kinky steamy scenes that me myself didn't imagine that I could take (but thank goodness, I did). But after reading Fifty Shades I told myself if I'm really a reader (I want to be a versatile one) I ought to take whatever book from whatever genre it is from and it may help me to grow up as...more

Simply put this book doesn't even deserve a review, it's just so messed up and insane. The main characters are all shit crazy. They all need serious help. It was all too much I couldn't wrap my mind around it. I'll just put some parts that I actually liked :

“Would our children inherit nothing from you?”
“Just my love of you.”

“Because I bloody well love you. All right? Happy now that you’ve managed to strip me to the barest of layers? I’m bleeding before you, Ren. I’m as vulnerable as a man can be...more

I'm not going to go into details - lots of other reviewers have covered that much better than I could, so I'll stick with my own personal feelings -

It was a 2-sitting read, what more can I say ... Maya Banks did it again! *grin* I've loved the Sweet series, had a soft spot for Cole since I first read him, and am a sucker for (view spoiler)[ menages and polyamourous romances (hide spoiler)], along with D/s relationships, so this book ticked all the boxes ... plus, as always with this author, it...more

“When a woman submits to a man, it's the most precious gift she can give. Herself. Unreservedly. The man has to respect and honor that gift above all else. Even if he respects nothing else in the world, he must respect the woman in his care. It's his sworn duty to protect, honor and cherish his submissive. To take care of her and provide a safe haven. Someone who would put his own needs above his woman's is no man.” 54 people liked it
