I fell in love with this book about 5 pages in. By page 9, I was texting my bestie and telling her about the awesomeness. So, what I'm trying to say... is that this immediately became one of my favorites.

The main character, Ellie, is a tomboy to the max--complete with an athletic build, a reputation for being kick-ass at street hockey, a right hook no guy would be ashamed of, and even 3 best friends/sidekicks all of the male variety. She has an older sister who is precisely the opposite of Ellie...more

I saw the reviews and the plot looked refreshing so I took a chance. The first few chapters were great, funny, well written, and Ellie seems to be a pretty brawny heroine. Almost halfway through the book things take on a disturbing turn.

The hero Seth is kind of over the top. He flies off the handle where Ellie is concerned, even punching a hole through the wall in a rage at one point. OMG, he has serious issues.

Ellie, oh Ellie. I liked her...more

....SPOILERS....

Despite one of the worst titles ever, Serial Hottie was a decent read. I have a small list of complaints bu mostly I really enjoyed it. I did not think Seth was nearly as creepy as Ellie, her sister and a bunch of other reviewers thought. Possessive, jealous, over protective and intense, yes, but not creepy. In fact, a majority of the offenses Ellie listed against him, she was guilty of too. Stalker, check. Moody, check. Violent, check. Abnormal, check. Total hypocrite? Looks lik...more

I liked it.

The suspense was alright. I thought the killer was obvious until it got to the twist thingy and I thought wrong. I pegged Seth as someone doing undercover. But then I was wrong. He's cool. But there was just something wrong with Seth that bothered me. He was almost always jealous, he was a bit paranoid, he's also weird. And yes, I admit, he was a bit adorable at times. But other times he was just weird and it was hard to think or consider being in a relationship with that kind of per...more

Ok..when I started reading this book, it seemed perfect! It was very cute actually, the way Seth and Ellie meet for the first time and Seth was so cool! I was already thinking of rating it 4 stars or even 5 depending on how the story goes! But I was sourly disappointed!

Seth started getting quite freaking! I kind of enjoyed it (that was the basis of the story) and was looking forward to Ellie realizing that he actually loves her and then she would start giving him a chance!
But then he started cre...more

Entendí, aunque repito, quise pegar muchas veces a Ángela y su necesidad d...more

I read this a month ago and in the midst of the move, I apparently forgot to review it. Now I am going to try to stimulate my poor pregnancy brain and try to remember what I was going to say in my review.

I don't remember swearing, so if there was any, it was certainly minimal and the less harsh words, but I don't remember any, so there may have been none. There is no sex either. The book takes place in high school, so I think there are maybe a few comments but nothing terribly vulgar, just thing...more

Don't judge a book by its title! I'm definitely sure my friends are going to make fun of me for reading a novel with such a title like Serial Hottie, but it was surprisingly a good read.

This is the summer that changes Ellie from a tomboy to a tomboy who likes some girly things. She still can beat up any boy, but now she can beat up a guy while looking girly at the same time. Ellie is hilarious! I like how she sometimes unknowingly says what she's thinking out lo...more

This book confused me.. let's not lie, great, great, great plot line, lots of humour, funny characters, strong heroine, love triangles, tomboy becomes hot girl etc. etc.etc... but there's but. and a BIG but.

The lead male.

Now I won't lie the end of the book and the truth behind seth sure did make me love him but his "personality disorder" (term used lightly, because his disorder was massive on the verge of crazy person) made me unsure of his character. Sure he is your typical hot, cock...more

4 Stars!

Kelly Oram is getting on mylist of favorite YA authors! I absolutely loved her debut novel Being Jamie Baker! Although I didn't like this as much, it was still good! Seth was really a creepy character, and this may sound weird, but I liked that about him. He was really different from the usual YA male leads. However I do not blame Ellie for reacting the way she did to his actions! I would do the same if I met someone like him (though I totally want to meet a Seth!)

Serial Hottie has got to be one of the most hilarious books I've read all year! The characters were so much fun! I almost rolled on the floor laughing during Ellie and Seth's first meeting. It was probably one of the most embarrassing and awkward way of meeting your crush, especially when you both have been spying on each other for days.

At first, I thought Ellie was that type of character that was an outcast and only had one friend...more

So I was struggling between giving this a 2-star rating or a 3-star, and then decided it really wasn't a bad story, hence the 3-stars.

The plot was a little different from the usual teen romance books we usually read, but it wasn't necessarily anything new. I liked that they added a serial killer thing into the mix to spice things up a bit.

However, I wasn't too fond of the characters. I thought Seth was a little too intense and stalker-ish. I think the author pushed his character a bit too much...more

Serial hottie was a a very mysterious book. A tomboy named Ellie is having a boring summer and a boy moves in across the street. When he arrives a bunch of murders start happening and the girls look almost identical to Ellie. It was scary cause it scares you into thinking she's the next target. She suspects the boy is doing it because he has all these skills of a killer. This book was okay but it kind of kept repeating what she thought the whole time. Real murders have happened like this for rea...more

okay Kelly Oram, you've done it again...
I don't really know how to start this review, but I have to say WOW! I was not expecting that !. Serial Hottie by Kelly Oram, isn't or typical romance story for sure, and the Ellie and Seth aren't your typical characters. Sometimes

Ellie is a tomboyish girl who, one day, finds out she has a new neighbor -a hot boy. She starts to spy on him thru her window, especially while he is working out. Her big sister Angela joins her. One day, while she is outside, a big dog jumps on her making her fall. Does this plot sound familiar?

That is what I thought. It looked like a totally fun, romantic, light, young-adult-ish book. And after I have read Being Jamie Baker, written by the same author (a book I liked a lot) I was very enthusia...more

Oh my God I loved this book! It kept me glued to the pages and I couldn't stop reading!
I like a good mix of romance and mystery. And this was really amazing!
I liked all the characters in this book. And I think it might even be the first time.
Well, okay, Angela wasn't really my favorite, especially at first. But then I started to like her and she was very protective of Ellie. I liked how they've grown close over the time they got to spend together during the summer.
I liked Seth -a lot-, thoug...more

I'm not sure if I've ever read a more perfect book.

I love so many things about this book I hardly know where to start. First off, humour. It was so spot-on for me I was practically squealing every five minutes at the pure comical value that is this book. And it's such an intelligent kind of funny too.
Ms. Oram's spin on the psycho killer thing was weird but I've come to the decision that I really enjoyed the idea and what she does with it. Makes you think about those uber-possessive heroes and...more

I read Kelly Oram debut novel Being Jamie Baker. I love that book with Ryan with his energizer kiss and all the sparks he felt. Oh, Ryan I miss you. I did like Being Jamie Baker characters so I was excited to read Serial Hottie. I read it and I am little disappoint. Hear me out.

We have Ellie or Eleanor the tomboy girl that no boy never ever sees her like a girl. She was always jealous of her sister Angela: she was beautiful, all the boys wanted her, and Ellie’s friends flirt with her si...more

I really enjoyed Serial Hottie. I was kind of nervous about the serial killer aspect because I was afraid this would end up being some sort of Nancy Drew thing were the main character turns into an investigator overnight, and saves the day. But that wasn’t the case, and for that, I’m grateful. I think Oram balanced the romance well with the dangers surrounding Ellie. It wasn’t such a focus of the story that it was overwhelming, but it also wasn’t done in a way that was too fluffy. It wasn’t enti...more

This book was really hard for me to rate. I wish there were half stars because this book was more like a 3 1/2 then just a 3. This story was just a little over the top for my taste. It wasn't all bad, I was cracking up more often than not. I loved that each character had such a strong personality. Everyone was different but you were still drawn to them all.

Ellie is a 15 year, hockey loving tomboy. Her 3 best friends "the J's" are off at hockey camp. She now has to find something to do for the su...more

Seriously lovable.

By the time I was finished reading, my face was hurting from laughing so much. There's so much humor, sarcasm, and wit in the dialogue; you just can't help but to love Ellie. I have to admit, I'm NOTHING like Ellie, but something about her was just so...lovable! I was laughing with her and sharing her fears; I couldn't help but to empathize and root for her.

Honestly, you think you know who the killer is until you don't. Definitely one or two red herrings thrown into t...more

SERIAL HOTTIE

When I started this book it took a while to get into. It's quick paced and quick read but I just had some issues. The main problem I has was Westley, the main character, in the beginning I really likes her. She was boyish, violent and one of the guys but throughout the book she just got girlier and girlier and girlier. But this didn’t bother me as much as I though. When I thought about it by the end of the book she was still the same Westley, she’d just changed a bit.

From the start...more

witty contemporary book. Thumbs up! <3

The concept was a breath of fresh air for me in a contemporary. I think I remember reading something about stalker/killer too though I didn’t get to finish it, luckily this one really caught my fondness for books.

Ellie’s more on the carefree and sporty type of girl, she's confident in her differences and who she is, and does have a lot of sense of humor. While Seth brought zest to the story--that’s for sure, a mysterious and swoon worthy boy who turns Ell...more

Ellie's overly imaginative and suspicious even at the start she thinks Seth's a killer.

Seth is overprotective, too overprotective, possessive and he gets super jealous easily.

I don't know what to say. At first I thought it was weird but even with Seth's history and past, it is weird. He's got to learn how to deal with his trauma better.

I don't know what to say, I'm not sure if Seth of Serial Hottie is a parody, a satire of all those overly possessive and protective male protagonists of so many...more

After reading Kelly Oram’s new upcoming release V is for Virgin – which I really loved, I decided to try another one of her books; Serial Hottie and overall, I'm glad I did because I really enjoyed it.

Another fabulous read! What I find truly fabulous about Ms. Oram is that her characters are so different from one another....I mean, Ellie is absolutely NOTHING like Avery (from Avery Shaw Experiment) or Valerie (from V is for Virgin). And the story is nothing alike. The situations, the setting.... And yet, I always know I'm going to love them. Seth was hard to get a read on with the anger issues. I know it was part of the whole story and maintaining the suspicion, but it was harder to completel...more

Aah, once again i've reached to the end of another awesomely great book! There were some sections and bantering that was so freakishly humorous that I couldn't stop smiling :P

What I was suprised about was the violence and anger management problems 90% of the characters in this book had.

The main character, Ellie who is a girl of 16 years of age fights with her sister, then goes out to punch the life out of her mailbox. Then says better it than her sister's face! Then goes for a 2 hour walk to blow...more

Great read!! First, I was thinking, "What a weird dude." Haha!! Eleanor Westley, Ellie for short. She's not exactly what you would call a 'girl'. She hangs out with boys (The three J's. Jesse, Jack, Josh) and plays hockey, I think? The three j's are gone for the summer and Ellie has no idea what to do but play. That is until she sees the new neighbors, the new guy, Seth Bishop who seems just a little too mysterious and creepy, very creepy. Seth creeped me out too. He just likes Ellie so much, wa...more

Kelly Oram wrote her first novel at age fifteen–a fan fiction about her favorite music group, The Backstreet Boys, for which family and friends still tease her. She's obsessed with reading, talks way too much, and loves to eat frosting by the spoonful. She lives outside of Phoenix, Arizona with her husband and four children.
