For Tobin and Delia, everything was always equal.

A bargain, a trade, a deal to be struck.

A kiss for a kiss.
Your shirt for mine.
Break my heart, I’ll break yours.

Their disastrous split was no different. Tobin’s spent the last year pretending Delia never existed, and Delia’s been in D.C., pretending to be anything but the country girl that she is.

When tragedy brings her back...more

This book was really different for me.
We set it in small-town Louisiana, which was SO much fun, and I also love to work with other authors - especially ones with the mad-talent of Stephanie Campbell.

I wrote Delia's POV, and love her to pieces. I also wrote quite a few poems for this book, which was fun. I got my start writing poetry and songs, so it was great to go back to that.

This is a story of for-real true love. Hope you like :-D

A second chance love story that starts off with a horrible tragedy that brings Delia home to Tobin, a year has passed since they split and within a week, we relive their romance with flashbacks and conversations they have that caused two hearts to break. They were two sou...more

This book has gently wrapped me up in its warmth. It felt like a lazy summer drive through a small southern town. There are so many good books waiting to be read, and even great ones. But anytime I find myself immersed in a great one, I simply marvel and literally want to dance from the simple joy of having discovered yet another gem. That's what this books is to me, a little gem. Some books come on fast and furious. Others dark and stormy. But this one? This one was gentle almost like faint whi...more

I REALLY enjoyed this short read, but don't let the length fool you....the emotion runs deep! The characters were very likable and the plot was realistic. I actually recall witnessing a similar situation unravel between a group of friends when i was in college. While reading, you feel the love, loss, heartache, betrayal, pressure, persistence, drama, and the undeniable bond between the characters. I enjoyed reading from both Delia and Tobin's perspectives and the jump from history to present was...more

What an amazing story! I mean, OMG! Let me tell you that I hadn't even begun the book and the excitement of reading it was just flowing through me.

What I loved most about this book is the awesome plot line. Normally, I don't like point of view switches especially if they are not done well. The way both authors wrote each point of view it flowed so well together like peanut butter and jelly. It is so smooth, you aren't lost. You don't loose information either. Instead, with each switch, the reade...more

Delia is coming back home to Louisiana from D.C. for the first time in a year. The first time she will see Tobin again will be at the funeral for his brother, Eamon. Through alternating POVs and flashbacks we see how Delia and Tobin fell in love, and how it all fell apart. Each author wrote a different POV and I was really amazed how well they meshed together. Also sometimes I really hate flashbacks because I get confused but the writing flowed perfectly. I loved seeing how they met and fell in...more

Nobody writes love like Jolene Perry. The palpable longing, the inevitable heartache, the crossed signals and misunderstood looks.... she draws them out with perfect timing, and though you know the girl will end up with the right guy in the end, the journey is never boring.

This book is written in two points of views, Delia's and Tobin's. Despite the chapters being written by two authors, it felt seamless, like each blended perfectly into each other, each voice distinct as it needed to be but sim...more

My Heart for Yours is told in present tense, alternating first person POV, with Perry doing Delia’s part and Campbell writing Tobin’s. In between are small bits of poetry written by Perry/Delia. Alternating POVs has become my new favorite style, 1st or 3rd person and while present tense can take some getting used to, I’ve been reading enough of it lately that it only takes me a few pages to get into. So there, now that I’ve told you what the style is, I can tell you about all that other trivial...more

This book was sweet but incredibly sad and depressing. While I liked it I didn't feel any real pull towards it. It was more of just a sad story with romance mixed in. I'm not sure why but it reminded me a little of The Notebook.

Delia has an unbelievably controlling father. Due to his career they are forced to go to DC from Louisiana for an extended period of time. Delia is leaving behind her boyfriend, Tobin. Things between them aren't going too great, and...more

I loved this bok so much I have started reading it again a day after I first finished it!

This is the first work I've read from either Jolene Perry or Stephanie Campbell. I loved both of their styles of writing a lot so I will definitely read more of their work soon.

Tobin and Delia used to date but all that ended disastrously when Delia moved away with her family. Now she's back in her home town after a tragedy has happened there. They've not seen each other in a year and have been trying to move...more

This short, sweet, coming of age book was a nice quick read after a long weekend. It may not be the longest book, but the emotions definitely run deep and the characters are very likable! It's filled with plenty of love, loss, and heartache... Kind of your typical YA (Young Adult) story, and at times (well most of the time) I wished it wasn't so YA. There is a lot of emotional and angsty build up, but it didn't fully deliver for me in the romance category.

Mmmm....good, beautiful story.
It felt long in some parts yet I am left wanting more. Strange, I know!
It was so truthful. When dealing with love, it always comes back to communication.

I heard a saying once; not to be afraid to hurt the ones you love with the truth, so long as it's said with LOVE. Even it it scares the hell out of you. (I added the last part.)
This book explains the truth in that very well.

Before I get started, let's take a moment to admire the kick ass cover and title of this book. No really, take a moment...

Now let's discuss the inside of the book; it was so incredibly close to four stars. So close you can see that extra star hanging on the edge for dear life. Most of you readers will pull that little guy up (may even pull up his friend). In the end I didn't, but I for sure didn't flick him off either!

This book takes you on an emotional ride from start to finish. One aspect I l...more

3.5 for this book

Oooh.. "that's it? "

That was my reaction after reading this book. Maybe I was expecting something big. Like some twist on the end or something worth remembering.

This book leaves a lot of question to me. About Eamon. About what really happened in the past even though it was already narrated/ flashbacks every chapter it's not that satisfying.

And that ring that Tobin threw in the forest. i don't know maybe I'm just wondering that maybe at the end, he will search for it and really...more

Delia never thought she will go back to the town she grew and meet Tobin - her love of life - again after a year long gap..that too in these circumstances.Tobin's brother is dead.

Tobin's shocked to see Delia at wake of his brother's funeral. After what happened between them a year ago when she moved out to D.C for his father - the senator - who controls her every decision ..he didn't think it's possible and the fact that she moved on.

Stuck between their feelings of love, anger, pain and angst..Deli...more

This is the second book I've read by Jolene Perry and the first by Stephanie Campbell and after reading this I'll definitely be coming back for anything the two of them write. Whether it's together or separately. I don't know what I was expecting from this book, but it definitely isn't what I got. Sure, I thought it was going to be a good book, but I didn't think I was going to love it as much as I did.

This book killed me...in the best possible way.

Delia and Tobin.
Their story broke my heart. What they went through...just everything. So much pain.
It was beautiful and painful. My emotions are all over the place and have been since I started the book. For me those are the best kind...the ones that make you really really feel and care about the people in the story.

Delia's mom pissed me off and her dad made my blood boil. I have never wanted to punch a fictional character as much as I wanted to p...more

"Every piece of the mess that I am makes me smile." - Taken from My Heart for Yours

Tobin and Delia dated each other in high school. They came from different worlds, but they were the perfect match. They were extremely happy together. They were very much in love.

But along the way, Tobin and Delia fell apart.

After a year apart, Tobin and Delia are brought back into each other's lives. Can they find their way back in...more

To me, this was your basic love story. Delia and Tobin have a connection that people dream of having. A strict, political father, a move out of state, and a shocking event tears them apart. A year later Delia is brought back to her hometown because of the death of Tobin's daredevil brother. The story covers the weekend of the wake and funeral and the interactions between Delia and Tobin. They're heartbroken and angry at each other. Their feelings are still there, but will they ever be able to me...more

My Heart for Yours is definitely one of those books you have to read when you are in the mood for something a little deeper than the typical boy meets girl, they fall in love, have some difficulty and then end up happily ever after type books. It dealt with death, difficult parents, and everlasting love.

My last two reviews were on books that started fast but then let me down as I continued to read. This book, like them, went right into the story line but did not let me down! It pulled on my hear...more

Tobin and Delia's have quite a few relational problems. Their break up involves miscommunication, inferiority complexes, and a damn misunderstanding. Their story is told in choppy flashbacks. It was really annoying.

Delia left her little country town and became a city girl. Now she's all makeup and Gucci and she's at home with that. But being back in her old hometown makes her question who she's become. She's about to break. Her dad is a strict U.S. Senator so her life revolves around a clean-cu...more

Before I decided to hand "My Heart for Yours" 2 stars, I was giving a lot of thought since the story was pretty good. However I didn't like how I felt when I read it. I felt gloomy which (in my opinion) was the main purpose of this book but for me, it seemed too much. The narrators were mature enough. But I still had one huge problem toward “My Heart for Yours” ... it was lack of dialogues. The characters rarely spoke to each other and that the kind of thing that made me think this book was too...more

I sighed when I swiped the last page on this. Sighed because when I read it, I smiled, got angry, got a little bit teary-eyed and my heart hurt a little.

Stories that revolve around young people finding the loves of their lives at such a young age gets me all the time. I suppose it's because I find it amazing that at so young, they found the person they want to spend the rest of their lives with and that means they have long rest of their lives with them. Big envy.

I don't normally like stories...more

I picked this book up because I needed a light read, something fun. Well, this was not light but it was a good book. The story is about Tobin, the younger brother of Eamon, who is preparing for Eamon's funeral. The story flashes back and forward so you can keep in the story of a brother's love and the loss of a true love. While at Eamon's funeral, Tobin is greeted by Delia, the daughter of the Senator and his one true love. Tobin and Delia have been broken up for over a year and due to the death...more

I enjoyed reading about lost love with the flashbacks to how they met, how they feel in love, how their loved was broken and then how they got back together. Even though, the circumstance of them being thrusts into each other’s lives was tragic. I teared up from time to time feeling the heartbreak that happened for both Tobin & Delia. But in two different ways.

The flaws that both characters have make them seem real. Delia not being able to stand up to her father, having to make a life alteri...more

I don't normally go for the stories that have the potential to leave me an emotional mess, but I'm glad that I picked this one up. It's obvious from the first painful sentences that Tobin LeJeune is devastated by his older brother's horrible death. But the unexpected arrival of Delia, his first love and former girlfriend, at the funeral throws him into more emotional turmoil than he knows how to handle.

Alternating between Tobin and Delia's point of views, we follow their entire relationship fro...more

Wow I feel so lucky I even found this book.
This was hands down one of the most beautiful stories I have ever read. From the moment I started reading the first page I could feel the thrill and excitement. I fell in love with both characters, Delia and Tobin.
The story captivated me and the pain and fear that both characters felt respectively was so raw I felt it in every page.
