This book was really different for me.
We set it in small-town Louisiana, which was SO much fun, and I also love to work with other authors - especially ones with the mad-talent of Stephanie Campbell.

I wrote Delia's POV, and love her to pieces. I also wrote quite a few poems for this book, which was fun. I got my start writing poetry and songs, so it was great to go back to that.

This is a story of for-real true love. Hope you like :-D

I REALLY enjoyed this short read, but don't let the length fool you....the emotion runs deep! The characters were very likable and the plot was realistic. I actually recall witnessing a similar situation unravel between a group of friends when i was in college. While reading, you feel the love, loss, heartache, betrayal, pressure, persistence, drama, and the undeniable bond between the characters. What an amazing story! I mean, OMG! Let me tell you that I hadn't even begun the book and the excitement of reading it was just flowing through me.

Through alternating POVs and flashbacks we see how Delia and Tobin fell in love, and how it all fell apart. Each author wrote a different POV and I was really amazed how well they meshed together. Delia never could stand up to her father. As a politician he immediately hated Tobin wanting better for his daughter and I felt like he was their biggest obstacle. Even a year later, he still doesn't want her hanging out with Tobin. Delia has a new boyfriend who is a politician's son and who understands Delia's new life. But Delia doesn't really like her new life. Coming home gets her to face it. That she does not want to end up like her mom, very unhappily married. That she wants to be the girl she was with Tobin.

At first I didn't like Tobin and blamed him for the relationship falling apart. I wondered why Tobin wouldn't have a long distance relationship or fight the move harder. But I soon learned it does take two. Tobin, while sweet and willing to fight for Delia, did not handle some things as well as he should have. When Delia needed him he was scared and left her alone to deal with it. Tobin was a romantic at heart and I felt really bad for him while he relived the memories of Delia moving and them breaking up.

Eamon was a huge part of the story. Tobin's brother had lived hard and died young. Tobin and Delia both continue to remember him and he was a pivotal part in their relationship and in the possible future of their relationship. Some of their memories really brought tears to my eyes. While Eamon always thought Delia would break Tobin's heart, when Delia needed him, Eamon had been there for her. This was a very emotional story about looking back and learning to move on and also taking second chances.

Nobody writes love like Jolene Perry. The palpable longing, the inevitable heartache, the crossed signals and misunderstood looks.... she draws them out with perfect timing, and though you know the girl will end up with the right guy in the end, the journey is never boring.

First off being that I don't think Tobin really grieved for his brother that much. I mean the day that they buried Eamon, Tobin and Delia went to a party and they argued over their past relationship. Fearless young Eamon tried a crazy stunt one time too many and his family is left mourning his death. Mom is a medicated mess, Dad can barely take care of her and is wandering around in shock the rest of the time so it’s up to his younger brother Tobin to hold things together. He’s been in his own bubble scraped out by grief, when he sees someone at Eamon’s wake he never wanted to look at again. His ex-girlfriend Delia has shown up in a fancy designer dress and expensive shoes, reminding him of the reasons they aren’t together anymore.

When Delia left Tobin, it broke her heart and seeing him again is stirring up old memories, good and bad. She came back because she loved Eamon too and she’s hoping for the closure with Tobin they never had, but he’s so angry. Delia is sick of who she’s become and decides to peel off the persona of a Washington D.C. politician’s daughter and find that real Louisiana girl who shows her cleavage for an illegal beer. Tobin and Delia have some serious issues to work through if they’re going to have any relationship, friends or more, and none of her new life can get in the way of that conversation.

This is a quick story, roughly novella-length, and it works for the amount of time Tobin and Delia have together. As they both re-think their relationship, there are flashbacks to happier times that don’t feel awkward, especially when they include the common thread of their love for Eamon. Some important scenes are seen from both Delia and Tobin’s points of view which made them especially stand out. I could tell you I really like both characters, but my praise would be weak if you asked me specifically why for each of them. Tobin is a nice Southern gentleman, loves his mama and is polite and cute. He’s a tiny bit of a hellraiser and protects what and who he considers his. Delia is loyal, even when the people she’s loyal to don’t necessarily deserve it. She tries to find the best in people, to keep the peace and please everyone – not necessarily perfect traits but she’s doing what she thinks is the right thing. The best thing about both of them is that they’re so normal. They make big mistakes, don’t know how to make them right or if they should, act selfishly, impulsively and in the end say to hell with it and take the risk with their own hearts.

One of the things that attracted me to Knee Deep was Perry’s willingness to tackle the sensitive subject of teenage domestic abuse. I just can’t go into what happened here between Delia and Tobin, but Perry and Campbell have taken another brave step, one I haven’t read before. I hope it will open some good conversation about the book and storyline and maybe even encourage other authors to tackle the subject in a sensitive and smart way.

I had entirely subjective feelings about the ending that were mostly responsible for keeping me from rating this higher. Obviously I won’t reveal what or how it happens, but it’s all taking place within the few days surrounding Eamon’s funeral. The deep romantic in me was dabbing her eyes with tissues but the pragmatic half was wondering what just happened.

While parts of the story look like the typical poor boy falls for a rich girl with a jerk of a daddy who’ll do anything to keep them apart, there’s more to this than meets the eye. The alternating POVs, poetry and flashbacks are all done well and make this short story seem longer than it is giving Delia and Tobin a history that goes beyond the few days they’re together because of Eamon’s death. This is full of drama, a couple on the edge of adulthood ready to forgive and move on and if you believe in soulmates, you’ll really enjoy this.

This book was sweet but incredibly sad and depressing. While I liked it I didn't feel any real pull towards it. It was more of just a sad story with romance mixed in. I'm not sure why but it reminded me a little of The Notebook.

I loved this bok so much I have started reading it again a day after I first finished it!

This is the first work I've read from either Jolene Perry or Stephanie Campbell. I loved both of their styles of writing a lot so I will definitely read more of their work soon.

This short, sweet, coming of age book was a nice quick read after a long weekend. It may not be the longest book, but the emotions definitely run deep and the characters are very likable! It's filled with plenty of love, loss, and heartache... Kind of your typical YA (Young Adult) story, and at times (well most of the time) I wished it wasn't so YA. There is a lot of emotional and angsty build up, but it didn't fully deliver for me in the romance category.

Some things that I did really enjoy about this book was the alternating POVs and flashbacks. Because the book is written from both Delia and Tobin's perspectives you really got a chance to understand both sides of their story (and I found myself going back and forth on whose side I was on). I also liked how the story jumps between present and past to relive the moments that defined their relationship most. You learn all about how they fell in love and what ultimately tore them apart.

Probably the coolest thing about this book was the fact that the alternating narratives were written by the two different authors, with Perry doing Delia’s part and Campbell writing Tobin’s. Both writing styles meshed perfectly, but it gave the two characters distinctly different voices.

All in all it was a sweet book and a nice quick read. Did it give me the book hangover I usually crave?? No. But after a week filled with super intense reads it was a nice change of pase.

Mmmm....good, beautiful story.
It felt long in some parts yet I am left wanting more. Strange, I know!
It was so truthful. When dealing with love, it always comes back to communication.

I heard a saying once; not to be afraid to hurt the ones you love with the truth, so long as it's said with LOVE. Even it it scares the hell out of you. (I added the last part.)

This book takes you on an emotional ride from start to finish. One aspect I loved was the plot tease. It reminded me of early Jennifer Echols novels where she dangles a huge piece of the plot in front of the reader; one that isn't revealed until over half-way through the book. We know something huge has happened, we just don't know what the hell it is! As much as we love to deny it; everyone loves a good tease!! Plus the story builds and builds upon the readers emotions where you get to the point you're about to burst; you can barely stand it. Even though I love that feeling, it made the ending seem a little anti-climactic.

This book was also loaded with flashbacks. It was like flashbacks on steroids! I really enjoyed them, but sometimes would get confused if I was living in the past or present. I had to back track in my reading to get re-oriented. That might say more about my mental development or lack there of more than it does about the writing...oops ;-)

Now for a little personal shout-out!! The book frickin mentions the Molly Ringwalds. HOLY HOT HELL!! Best 80's cover band in the history of ever!! I've seen them play a ton of times and almost gave this book infinite stars just for mentioning them. Sorry to let that crash my review, but it had to be said!

Overall, this is a good read; awesome romantic tension, plenty of drama and heartache. Hell for $0.99, I'd buy three! It even rides the fence on being a new adult/YA-mature novel. Delila just graduated high school and Tobin is several years older. That being said, since it was a little "older" I would have loved to see a little more heat and passion! OKAY! OKAY! I wanted more sex! Wait, did I just say that out loud?? Anyway, don't get me wrong you will get your naked fix (I did say that out loud), but I think Kristen Ashley and E.L. James have forever ruined me. Okay, forget everything I just said and go read the book!

That was my reaction after reading this book. Maybe I was expecting something big. Like some twist on the end or something worth remembering.

This book leaves a lot of question to me. About Eamon. About what really happened in the past even though it was already narrated/ flashbacks every chapter it's not that satisfying.

Whether it's together or separately. I don't know what I was expecting from this book, but it definitely isn't what I got. Sure, I thought it was going to be a good book, but I didn't think I was going to love it as much as I did.

This book was written in both Tobin and Delilah's POVs. I love reading books where you get to see both sides of the relationship, but sometimes it's done in a way that isn't too enjoyable.... Thankfully that wasn't the case with this book! I really enjoyed reading both of their perspectives because most of the time they were so different, yet they would be talking about the same thing. At times I would find myself wanting to skim over Delilah's POV because I was desperate to get back to Tobin's, but thankfully I resisted! When the book starts Tobin and Delilah aren't together, and they haven't been for over a year. I won't say why they aren't together, but it wasn't something that I had expected. Anyways, since they aren't together you'd think there wouldn't be many "awe" worthy moments between the two of them... WRONG! In just about every chapter there's a flashback and they are so sweet and adorable. Through them you get to see why Tobin and Delilah are so perfect for each other.

My favorite aspect of this book was the fact that you know something big has happened before the book begins, but you don't actually learn what it is until almost the end of the story. It was such a tease! I didn't set my kindle down once because I was so desperate to know what the heck was going on, and then when I did find out I was so surprised. It might not have come as a shock to everyone reading the book, but I've never been good at guessing the outcomes of things.

Tobin and Delilah are great characters in the sense that they're both flawed and realistic. Neither of them are anywhere near perfect and they know it. Tobin was seriously amazing, I loved his character. But I hated his name. It's probably just going to be me that hates his name, but I do. It reminds me of one of my friends from school, and she's a girl! So every time I read Tobin I thought of her! HAH. Delilah was a pretty great character as well. Throughout the book she's struggling with who she wants to be and who her dad wants her to be. Separately these two are alright characters, but together they're incredible. They really bring out the best in each other. Tobin brings out Delilahs wild side, and Delilah brings out the responsible side of Tobin.

I would recommend this book to anyone that needs a break from all the dystopian and paranormal books out there right now. Not that those aren't great, but sometimes you just need a good ole contemporary book with no messed up government, or awkward love triangles. Anyways, read this book. It's sweet, and adorable, and just overall cute.(less)

Delia and Tobin.
Their story broke my heart. What they went through...just everything. So much pain.
It was beautiful and painful. My emotions are all over the place and have been since I started the book. For me those are the best kind...the ones that make you really really feel and care about the people in the story.

My Heart for Yours is definitely one of those books you have to read when you are in the mood for something a little deeper than the typical boy meets girl, they fall in love, have some difficulty and then end up happily ever after type books. It dealt with death, difficult parents, and everlasting love.

Tobin and Delia's have quite a few relational problems. Their break up involves miscommunication, inferiority complexes, and a damn misunderstanding. Their story is told in choppy flashbacks. It was really annoying.

Before I decided to hand "My Heart for Yours" 2 stars, I was giving a lot of thought since the story was pretty good. However I didn't like how I felt when I read it. I felt gloomy which (in my opinion) was the main purpose of this book but for me, it seemed too much. The narrators were mature enough. Shelves: ya-romance, heartbreaking

I sighed when I swiped the last page on this. Sighed because when I read it, I smiled, got angry, got a little bit teary-eyed and my heart hurt a little.

Stories that revolve around young people finding the loves of their lives at such a young age gets me all the time. I suppose it's because I find it amazing that at so young, they found the person they want to spend the rest of their lives with and that means they have long rest of their lives with them. Big envy.

I picked this book up because I needed a light read, something fun. Well, this was not light but it was a good book. The story is about Tobin, the younger brother of Eamon, who is preparing for Eamon's funeral. The story flashes back and forward so you can keep in the story of a brother's love and the loss of a true love. While at Eamon's funeral, Tobin is greeted by Delia, the daughter of the Senator and his one true love. Tobin and Delia have been broken up for over a year and due to the death...more

I enjoyed reading about lost love with the flashbacks to how they met, how they feel in love, how their loved was broken and then how they got back together. Even though, the circumstance of them being thrusts into each other’s lives was tragic. I teared up from time to time feeling the heartbreak that happened for both Tobin & Delia. But in two different ways.

Shelves: delectable-bad-boys, sweet-love-story

I don't normally go for the stories that have the potential to leave me an emotional mess, but I'm glad that I picked this one up. It's obvious from the first painful sentences that Tobin LeJeune is devastated by his older brother's horrible death. But the unexpected arrival of Delia, his first love and former girlfriend, at the funeral throws him into more emotional turmoil than he knows how to handle.

Wow I feel so lucky I even found this book.
This was hands down one of the most beautiful stories I have ever read. From the moment I started reading the first page I could feel the thrill and excitement. I fell in love with both characters, Delia and Tobin.
The story captivated me and the pain and fear that both characters felt respectively was so raw I felt it in every page.
