Bought this in an airport to read on the plane... not a book that you want someone to read over your shoulder.
I really like the main idea of this book and I was really curious about this whole channel thing, but the truth is that everything is so messed up and I tried to figure out why is happening, and what is happening but sometimes I just lost the line. And the main character is that really annoying type of character I think that you can get used to this type but it still remains annoying a little bit and the whole book is about getting to this channel thing with ordering that and get your body to wo ...more

I know some of you are a bit shocked right now: Aurian, reading erotica? Nooo, that can’t be? But yes, you see, this is Bertrice Small, my most favourite author of all of my favourite authors. And face it, her historical romances are often steamier than erotica. And have you read her fantasy series, The World of Hetar? Wow. I love everything she writes, and this series is not an exception. Her books are like comfort food to me.
This series has all older women as heroines, so no virgin meets mill
wow! what a wild ride.. I had no idea what to expect with this book.. I had it recommended to me and went into it blindly.. and I was very pleasantly surprised! it was a crazy mix of genres to make one helleva book! It was romance/ erotica/ thriller/ and some mystery.. it wasn't just a whole bunch of sex scenes but also included a really good story !!
It was well written and very well put together!
The ending blew my mind, I did not see it coming at all! I don't really know what it means, but I d

I read this book as a quick read between novels. The premise of The Channel was interesting, and I was interested to see how it progressed. My gripe with this book is that the chapters (each featuring a different woman's fantasy) was loosely related to each other-each was a member of a small town. I would have preferred to either have each story be unrelated to each other or to have a more cohesive connection between each woman. The backstory that preceeded each fantasy was blah blah blah. It co ...more
I really loved this book and the sex scenes were amazing! Nora Buckley's worst nightmare has just come true. After years of devoted, dutiful housewife, she found out her husband is leaving her for a younger woman. Her only comfort comes from her friends the women of Ansley Court who meet every Monday for cofee and gossip. Seeing Nora's desperation her friends decide its time to let her in on their secret. Its called The Channel... and its let's every woman unleash passions beyond her wildest dream ...more

(I don't want to seem like an ultra-religious fanatic from my comments. I'm really chill with many issues and topics in religion, but the upcoming issue is the only thing that makes me uncomfortable.)

Nora made a deal with the actual devil himself to be happy?! That and she killed her husband was what soured me to the series and I gave away the book the first chance that I could get.

Just the whole thing with SATAN. A DEMONIC FORCE, that is composed of all the evils of the world, and she ends up

Private Pleasures
Written By: Bertrice Small

ISBN 978-0451212030

Private Pleasures is filled with promise, but it did not satisfy as I had hoped. I will start with The Channel; it is an absolutely fabulous idea and the Author has really outdone herself! With this inventive escape, Nora and her friends are able to live out their most secret, intimate fantasies. Just imagine the possibilities

This is something different than the rest of romances story I've read. And considering that I read it in 3 days when I usually take more than one week per book shows how eager I am to know what happened next!
Mary Alice
Not one of my favorites from Beatrice. I enjoyed the Skye O'Malley series much more than this one.

2 1/2 stars
Just not my kind of book. Woman goes into her TV for fantasy sex.
As with most Bertrice Small books (if not all) the sex scenes are intense and very heated. I love the idea of the channel and how the story plays out. I know that some people feel that Nora didn't stay true to herself at the end, but I truly believe she does. She may have been naive at first but she grew and learned. She became stronger and harder. Aside from that, no matter how sweet someone is, when it comes to their kids, there isn't much that someone wouldn't do. Especially when the other pe ...more
Epic Bertrice Small
WARNING: Do not read this book if you are offended by erotic sexual content.

This book has every erotic notion you can possibly think of, but also a suspenseful storyline that become really interesting at the end. What is The Channel, and who really runs it?? That becomes quite apparent at the end. But what you get for the price you are paying for this fantasy is more than worth it!
The best Bertrice Small book I've read. Premise is neat: There is a cable channel that women can access that allows them to live out their fantasies with no regrets. I like that the main character "breaks free of her oppressor" (jerk husband) and gets revenge against him (love revenge-books) and creates the life she always dreamed of!
The Channel Series is so crazy and bizzar that you can't help but to read them. They take you into a world that you wouldn't have even imagined before. This set of romance novels will get your heart pounding in more ways than one. Not only is it hot and steamy romance, but it is also a little scary (I thought).
Different it's but good not a romance by any means and a big jump from anything I had ever read from her before still I found myself enjoying the book and you can't ignore the heat factor

Wow, talk about some good sex scenes. I usually skim the sex parts, but if you do that here, there is no point in reading this! It is really no hold barred! No soft core here!
This book was terrible. The story was shallow, the characters were annoying. The sex was raunchy and rushed, grammatically incorrect. Not a romance at all. Ugh.

I really liked this book, it had an interesting story line. Where immediately after reading I thought we seriously need The Channel! It was lovely.

I am a big fan of Bertrice Small's, but I prefer her historical fiction to her contemporary work.
