This book is completely and totally adorable. It has all the elements needed to make perfect and Disneyesque book: two geeky and lovable heroines, mean popular girls, not-so-bright jocks, annoying sibling, and swoon-worthy heroes!
Molly and Ally are self-proclaimed geeks. Boy, do I ever meet any clumsier character than them! Imagine this. Their physical coordination is so bad that they hit each other every time they try to do high-five! But the girls are also adorable in every sense possible. The...more

A huge thank you to YA Bound for allowing to read and review this book as well as being on this tour. When I read the blurb I was so excited to read this book that when I got it I devoured it in one sitting and it left me wanting more and more. I love these kinds of stories that have a hidden meaning behind it and make you want more. I could feel the 80's music and I could feel the importance of friendship.

What a fun, fluffy read! Retro Geeks is a nice coming-of-age story of how two girls come to embrace their individuality. Molly and Ally are self-proclaimed retro geeks, but being retro does not equate to being ‘cool’. Determined to become part of the In-Crowd, they devise a series of plans to land them popularity and handsome prom dates.
The story itself is light, and there are a few fun moments that make Retro Geeks an entertaining read. Molly and Anna have a very tightly bound friendship, and...more

Did I enjoy this book: I did enjoy this book. It is a good short story, perfect for a quick read. Retro Geeks is fun and lighthearted.
The main characters, Molly and Ally (named after the two best brat pack members, Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy), are likeable geeks who love everything about the 80s. They love the music, the movies, and especially the fashion. However, the two senior girls are hopeless outcasts in their school because of their love of the 80s. Sometimes it was difficult to root...more

This is a "short on time" teen book. And short it is. At under 100 pages it took me only 45 minutes or so to read. But since the characters are two senior girls in high school, I assume that it is still considered a YA book. I was really excited when I saw the theme of this book was the 80s. I love 80s music. But unfortunately Retro Geeks fell short of my expectations. (pun unintentional, but maybe fitting) Retro Geeks read more like a middle grade book with older characters. Ollie, the younger...more

My name is Katrina and I am an 80’s baby. The 80’s was one of the cheesiest eras of America history style wise. Yet a lot of creativity evolved from the free flow of uninhibited expression. I am also a geek. I’ve been a geek all my life; even before being geeky or nerdy was cool. That being said, I was very intrigued and excited to review this novel.
I had high expectations. But I was mistaken to anticipate a five star. This story fell a little flat for me. The geeks weren’t anything l...more

Molly and Ally best friends, they are seniors in high school, and are totally obsessed with everything 1980s. They dress in vintage 1980 style clothing, they wear their hair in 1980s type hairstyles, and they listen to 1980s music. They are determined to find popular hot dates for the prom and to become popular themselves. While spying on the popular girls to try and get the scoop on the best way to fit it, super mean girl Elisa takes notice and plots her own scheme to put Ally and Molly in thei...more
Retro Geeks is a hilariously funny short read that will also touch your heart. Karen Mueller Bryson has penned a beautiful story about two best friends who are finding their own identity apart from each other and learning to love who they are and growing in self-confidence to be proud of it.
Molly and Ally have been best friends forever. They also have a love for the 80s. They live for the 80s in their music, dress, and hairstyle—they are retro 80s’ geeks. This is their senior year and for once...more

How easy it was to relate to the high school cliches and 'in' groups and be part of the unpopular crowd like Molly and Ally. And equally great to see this amazing duo get their revenge in a non-lethal way. This is a book every girl can find an echo of her younger self in... high school was the good times and the bad times -- author Mueller Bryson handles both aspects with equal aplomb.
