Where do I even start?
There was so much going on in this book I hardly know where to begin! All I can say was that this book was easy one of my most recent faves!! Syd is so awesome – doesn’t scare easy and takes no crap from anyone. CR Hiatt weaves a complex tale of intrigue and suspense that grabbed me right away and never let go, right up to the climactic end. Gone at zero hundred packs a real punch and keeps your fingers eager and ready to turn the next page. Sydney is thrust into the world of sleuths by fates call. Luckily for Sydney she had paid attention whilst growing up, watching her mother who was a kick- ass private eye and one of the best at what she did. Without giving the story away, Sydney has no option but to take up the role as private eye to keep a roof over her head. I really loved this character as she reminded me much of myself at th...more
An Action-Packed, Thrill Ride!
Gone at Zero Hundred Packs Some Major Torque! I was blown away by this complex, high-octane thriller. The non-stop action of this impeccable mystery made it impossible for me to stop reading. I was amused, enticed and engrossed with the sexy, sassy, smart-ass sleuths McSwain & Beck. They're intelligent, raw and realistic.

A Complex and riveting story –
I read and enjoy a wide variety of novels, and if all the genres I have to say I’ve probably read the most in the mystery/thriller genre. It’s almost gotten to the point where I’m surprised when I’m surprised anymore, as so many plots have become overused, formulaic, and downright repetitive. This was NOT the case with “Gone at Zero Hundred”. Not only was the writing excellent, I found the plot to be original and kept me guessing. It was rich with layers of emotion...more

Gone At Zero Hundred is a well-written, fast-pace mystery that involves a crime we should all be more aware of.
Eighteen-year-old Sydney McSwain witnesses her mother, a private investigator, being gunned down on a live news broadcast. Following this tragedy, Syd and her childhood friend, Cody Beck, decide to run her mother’s P.I. business. When McSwain & Beck’s first client walks through the door, little do they know what appears to be a straightforward surveillance case will lead them to a...more

Who at age 18 didn't feel like they were invincible and were going to live forever? Who wouldn't feel the weight of guilt for arguing with a parent in the AM and then losing that parent the same day? And who wouldn't take over their mother's business as a means of support when there was no other means of support? Fortunately Anna McSwain had taught both her daughter Sydney and her friend Cody Beck well in the mundane and safer issues of private investigation. They had listened and learned well a...more

Reality is not a strong point of this book. But who cares? This is a read where you sit back, relax and breeze past the pages. You just have to know what next before putting it down. I read this book as part of a blog tour hosted by Reading Addiction Blog Tours for C.R. Hiatt. I first agreed to do it because I love a good mystery and adventure. This book did deliver such a story. This book kept the pace and was a quick read. The chapters are quick and not too long, making the story fly by. The mystery and plot was developed very well. A lot is going on, but the author does tie it up nicely at the end. However, she doesn’t finish everything in the end as there is a follow up...more

I always loved mystery and action books but I can't believe how intense this book was! Syd and Cody were the perfect match together! It totally reminded me of Bones and Booth. They were both real, sexy, and funny. I think Syd got some Catwoman gene in her! WOOT! She was reckless, and dangerous. The characters got major awesome sass! I totally wish I can be more like that! The romance between Syd and Cody was low in this book, but you know that there is something there, and it would grow.

“Gone at Zero Hundred” by CR Hiatt is a high-octane, action packed and quick-witted romp through the perilous underworld. Written in a vein similar to early James Patterson (his good stuff) the chapters are short and make you want to gobble them down. The action is ever-present and not weighed down by needless dramas and angst, and the occasional POV switches to show the POV of the stalker/kidnappers was an interesting addition. I did note a few minor typos and grammar things, occasional bouts o...more
Finally, a strong, kick butt female lead!
I’m really getting so tired of reading these YA’s where the whole story seems to inevitable revolve around the female mc’s obsession with some guy. What a breath of fresh air this was! Syd was my type of heroine—sassy, self-reliant, soft at times but strong when it mattered. She was devastated after her mother’s murder. But instead of sitting around feeling sorry for herself she did the best thing she could’ve done – honored her mother’s memory by filli...more

Full disclosure: I am a 20 year old male who normally reads graphic novels, YA action (read all the Alex Rider and Cherub series when I was younger). Now I mostly read zombie books.
The author, CR HIATT, gave me a copy of Gone at Zero Hundred 00:00, and asked if I would read it and submit a review on Goodreads.com. The only thing she asked was that I be fair.
I gave it high marks, and recommend it to anyone who enjoys action. The story wasn't bogged down with romance, the way a lot of YA novels s...more

WARNING…when starting this book make sure you don’t have anywhere you need to be or anything you need to do because you WON’T want to stop reading!! Trust me on this! The book starts off with an explosive, unforgettable beginning and just keeps going. The characters of Syd and Cody were a perfect pair…funny, smart, snarky…they totally need their own TV series!

Eighteen year old Sydney part time work as an amateur sleuth becomes a full time occupation after she witnesses the horrific murder of her beloved mother on live TV. Thrown together with her partner-in-crime/wannabe filmmaker Cody, The team of “McSwain and Beck” soon get involved in a case that turns out to be more than either one of them bargained for.
I loved what an easy read this was…meaning, the prose was witty and engaging, and the characters likeable (okay, except the bad guys). The way...more

I was intrigued by the synopsis of Gone at Zero Hundred 00:00, but I still wasn't really sure what I was in for. To me it sounded like the main focus of the book was going to be 90210 meets Alex Rider with the main focus being on finding Syd's father, but my assumptions were all wrong.
I really liked the first half of this book. It was action packed and mysterious and I kept reading wanting more. So many things strange things were happening and I couldn't wait to find out what secrets these rich...more

C.R. Hiatt’s, Gone At Zero Hundred was an enjoyable read. I would’ve read it in one sitting if life hadn’t interfered.
Eighteen year old Sydney McSwain is the daughter of a private investigator mother. Throughout Sydney’s childhood, she’s assisted in her mother’s investigations with relentless obsession. Troubling Sydney throughout her life is the mystery of who fathered her? Her mother is not on the subject.

Gone at Zero Hundred 00:00 by CR Hiatt is an action packed thriller in the same vein as James Patterson, but written for young adults. The story was action-packed, edge-of-your seat entertainment. The story is about 18 year old Sydney and her friends Cody and Jaden. Sydney’s mom, a PI that has been working with the police to uncover a dirty cop, is murdered. Sydney witnesses it live on TV. She decides to take over the family business, as she and Cody have been working there anyway.

GONE AT ZERO HUNDRED by C.R. Hiatt was a fantastic read. I breezed through this in three sittings. The chapters were short, which I loved, and the pace fast. I found myself up way past my bedtime saying, "just one more chapter, just one more chapter." I really didn't want to put this down.
Sydney McSwain is a tomboy with sass, but she has to grow up real fast on graduation day when tragedy strikes in a highly traumatic and emotional way. From there on the pace and mystery really start to pick up...more

I have to say I don't usually read YA stories. But when I read the synopsis of this one, something caught my imagination and I had to read it. I read the book in less than two days which shows how the story grabs you.

I really enjoyed reading this story. When I first saw the cover, I was intrigued, and when I read the blurb, I was more interested. It's a great moving story with a good developed plot, and I believe it will keep you guessing; sure you might have some predictions beforehand on whom the bad guys are, but you just might be surprised towards the end; I know I was! The characters were very well formed, and the scenes/dialogue flowed pretty nicely. There are hard moments that the characters face, but...more
I was impressed with this action packed book. Sydney is a 18 year old girl who's two best friends are boys. Cody is into computers and movie making, is full of himself and the girls are all over him. Jayden is the best hockey player in state. Sydney's mom runs a private investigation business out of the firehouse where they live. Sydney and Cody learn a lot from hanging out with her mom. Jayden is usually practicing hockey because he wants to go pro. The three of them get caught up in a case tha...more
Gone at Zero Hundred is a most unusual mystery/thriller as the investigators, “McSwain and Beck”, are only eighteen years old. After Syd’s mom is tragically killed Syd is forced to find a means of support and decides to do the only thing she knows how to do. Little does she know what perils await when she accepts her first assignment as a private investigator.

The ones who read this book!! I loved this story and how fast-paced and action-packed it was. Never predictable or boring. I won’t recap the entire plot but it is interesting and entertaining and the writing style is one that kept me glued to this story from the first page to the last. It was very easy to follow along, and I was never once bored or thought it was too slow. Twists and turns at almost every chapter, and I like how Syd handled herself in almost every sit...more

Sydney McSwain lived with her mother, a Private investigator who got too close to uncovering something and is killed right in front of Sydney. After this, Sydney and her friend Cody Beck form a partnership where they take over her late mother’s job and begin to do some investigating of their own when they get a mysterious but beautiful client named Summer.
First off, I like that Syd is strong, yet still has a vulnerable side that makes her relatable. She is totally kick ass, but not too much so...more

What a rollercoaster of a book!! I was GLUED to it!! The two main characters are thrown into a murder-mystery. The chapters are not too long, so it was an easy read. I was a bit skeptical, as it’s listed as a YA book, but I was very happy with the content! Hence, don’t judge a book by it’s cover! So if YA isn’t your cup of tea, but you like murder-mystery and lots of action, you just may want to give this book a try! I can’t wait for the second book to come out.
