Personally, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Warriors! I even have a club 4 it with a bunch of people. This book took my breath away with the shadowclan cats. I am used 2 books with Thunderclan, but I got the chance 2 C what shadowclan was all about and there secrets. I totally recomendend this book 2 any young reader. But I loved the book SOOO much that I never wanted it 2 end, even though it was a super edition. I LOVE WARRIORS! All of there books, but I think so far, this is one of there best.

I enjoyed this book about Yellowfang, but truthfully I expected more than what was there.
It wasn't as shocking or exciting as Bluestar's Prophecy or Crookedstar's Promise
and I found that, even though I read it quickly that it wasn't a very fast paced book.
I did give it 4 stars because this is my rating scale:

1 - hated it!
2 - not great, but it wasn't the worst book either.
3 - neither good nor bad...it didn't stick out
4 - good book. Not the best I've ever read, but enjoyable none the less.

This book seriously made me weep.
It was depressing.
Yellowfang lost everything.
In the beginning, I was so in love with the book.
I love Raggedpelt, and I loved the relationship he had with Yellowfang. I knew it was going to end, and I knew their history, but I never knew how devastating it truly was.

Yellowfang lost everything.
In the beginning, I was so in love with the book.
I love Raggedpelt, and I loved the relationship he had with Yellowfang. I knew it was going to end, and I knew their history, but I never knew how devastating it truly was.
First off, Raggedpelt/star was confusing. He had mood swings. He could be so devastatingly sweet and charming and gentle and enigmatic, a mixture of beauty and pain, or he could be mean and cruel, unpredictable and volatile. It was just mind-boggling.
And then there was Yellowfang. Reading about her not being grumpy let me understand why she became grumpy, considering all she'd been through. But it was still weird seeing her so young and active and cheerful (most of the time).
Somewhere around the time Yellowfang became a medicine cat, I wanted to give up on the book. I knew I'd be disappointed if I did, but even when I finished the book, I was disappointed.
I hate Raggedstar for being so blind, so proud. I hated him for not seeing what he was doing wrong, for asking for Yellowfang's help when it was already too late, already done. I hated him for electing Brokentail as deputy, knowing either way, Raggedpelt would die by the work of his son, but he could at least have left not leaving such an evil cat as leader. I know I can't pin all the blame on him, but I'm so angry.
And Yellowfang. She heard the prophecy. Cruel as it sounds, she should have killed Brokentail the moment he was born and she saw that twisted look of hatred and rage on his face. He's a beast. There was even an omen--both of his sisters died and only he survived, just a sign of the death and destruction he was to bring. He should have never been born.
I'm sorry that Yellowfang and Raggedpelt couldn't be together, ultimately, though.
I cried when Raggedstar died--I knew it was all Brokentail's fault and I dreaded what was to come.
And doesn't anyone else find it disturbing how utterly alone Yellowfang was at the end, with no Raggedpelt in StarClan to greet her at the Moonstone, with no solid foundation for a future?
Even Crookedstar, with everyone he loved dead, killed by Mapleshade, had a happy ending. He didn't let death end his love. He knew he would be reunited with his loved ones in StarClan. Yellowfang has nothing. I closed Yellowfang's Secret with a heavy heart and a feeling of no closure. And closure is very important to me.
Nonetheless, this was a excellent, if not depressing, book.(less)

In this book there is a she-cat named Yellowkit (when she is a kit(ten)). She later graduates to an apprentice and is known as Yellowpaw, and finally she becomes a warrior, and is named Yellowfang. This book is part of the Warriors series, and although it can be read as a stand-alone, I recommend reading "Into the Wild" first, in order to fully understand the clan setup and functions. So this book was given four stars because I didn't like how we all knew this happened because they told us this in the main series. But besides that it was fine. I just wish I could read more! Yellowfang's perspective is so interesting and her life was so sad because everyone neglected her. But I like sad books so this was awesome. Recommend book for read!(less)

The book begins with Yellowfang becoming a warrior. She is trained by her mentor to learn to how to fight and defend her clan. She is also taught how to hunt. After becoming a warrior, she decides that she wants to be a medicine cat. She then trains with the other medicine cat in the clan to learn how to use herbs to heal. It is not until later that she has a kitten, even though she is not supposed to since she is a medicine cat. Because of that, the kit grows up in the clan but does not know who his mother is. Brokentail, Yellowgfang’s kit grows up to be the leader of the whole clan. When Brokentail becomes leader he goes against the warrior code and causes problems for the clan. He even frames Yellowfang for killing kittens, and gets her banished from the clan. So Yellowfang leaves, and ends up in ThunderClan territory and then later becomes their medicine cat.
I did not like the fact that even with all of the warnings that Yellowfang got about bad things about to happen to her, she did not know how to keep them from happening. It was like she did not know what to do and could not fix anything. I found that hard to believe. On page 428 she does not understand when she says, “Oh StarClan, no! Yellowfang wailed silently. Why are you showing me this!” She is being shown a vision of trouble ahead, but she does not even try to understand what she is seeing. On page 429 she is talking to her old friend Silverflame when she says, “Terrible times are coming, she mewed. I’m so sorry.” She cannot even tell her friend what is going to happen, even though she has seen it.
A theme of this book is when you know where your loyalties lie, you will not get into trouble. If Yellowfang had not been so confused with the troubles in her life, and stayed more true to her clan, she would not have gotten into so much trouble. I would recommend this book to any young adult who already likes the Warrior Series. This book is just another story that adds to the Warrior Series timelines.
This book is different because the main characters are not people but animals. They are cats who live in a clan but can talk to each other just like people. They have a lot of behaviors like people, and they do not act like cats that we see every day.
I would give this book 3.5 stars. It was good, but a little frustrating.

This book was....wow. I was sure it would be good, but this.... no words. I was definitely not expecting to love it as much as I did, because I hadn't liked Crookedstar's Promise or Bluestar's Destiny as much as the other Warriors super editions. But this was great. I stayed awake thinking about it later! That hasn't happened in a while.

I must say that I'm actually disappointed with this book.

I was really looking forward to learning more about ShadowClan and some prominent characters from this period in the Clans. It felt like one event after another with little time for characterization. Okay this book was about as great as The Last Hope, not that great. I am too lazy to give a long review like with that book but I'll just say that the book was very rushed, choppy, and felt extremely anti-climatic at times. I'm a longtime fan of Warriors. I am 15, and I started reading these when I was 10. The people who introduced me to these dont read them anymore, but I still continue to love them.

When I read all the books, I had never liked ShadowClan. I always went from loving ThunderClan to WindClan to RiverClan, but never ShadowClan. I always saw them as evil, as Brokenstar and Tigerstar lead them, and I didn't really ever like Blackstar. I think it was past due that ShadowClan got a book about them.

A terrible, heart wrenching yet wonderful story. The Hunter's have done it again with a beautiful tale from the world of the warrior cats! A story that gives the reader insight into former ShadowClan medicine cat Yellowfang's past, just as Crookedstar's Promise Crookedstar's Promise and Bluestar's Prophecy Bluestar's Prophecy have. For those who aren't familiar with the Warriors series, it basically is about the life of cats living in different Clans in a forest, who fight to survive for territory and prey. Don't be fooled by the cheesy perspective by cats because it's a great read for all of the young audience. One thing that I love about the Super Edition series of Warriors is that they reveal the answers to secrets that are in the original series.
Yellowfang, the protagonist in the Super Edition, is a cat in ShadowClan, one of the four Clans of the forest, which are RiverClan, ThunderClan, WindClan, and lastly ShadowClan. She has a great destiny in front of her where she can pursue a life as a medicine cat, which heals the clan with herbs and potents and has a religious connection with their ancestors in StarClan. The problem is, she broke the sacred rule of medicine cats, which is to never have kits. As a punishment, two our of three of her kits die, leaving Yellowfang with only one kit left.
One thing that I'd like to point out is that this book has everything; it's suspenseful, a page-turner, and great character development. The only thing that I think will be troublesome for readers is that a clear understanding of the book would require readers to have read the first six books of the original series. This is because, as I said before, the purpose of the Super Edition series is to clear up some clouded mysteries and give background knowledge about the Warriors series. The book sheds light on Yellowfang's past, which is seasons before the actual plot in Warriors begins. For example, some people may wonder why Yellowfang suddenly became a medicine cat after training to become a warrior, which is basically a cat in the clan who fights and hunts for prey. In Yellowfang's Secret, it is revealed that this is because Yellowfang actually received a prophecy from StarClan, and also, she has the power to feel the same pain as the cats surrounding her. This information was never revealed in the series, yet you'd have to know a little bit about the plot of the original series before going to read this book.
All in all, my personal response was very positive because of this one reason: Many people hate long series because they feel as if it's running on too long and should've ended long ago. Sometimes, I feel the same way. However, my opinion is that long series that have everything interconnected as if it were all planned beforehand are the best series. A lot of thought has been put into the book to intertwine the plot of Yellowfang's past and the plot of the storyline in Warriors.
The reason why I gave this book three stars out of five stars was simply because I felt that the book was very rushed at times. Although Hunter can't explain Yellowfang's whole entire life in just 400-500 pages, I feel as if important events, such as Yellowfang's warrior ceremony, where apprentices in the clan get there official warrior name and status, because I had to flip back to see if I had skipped it because it went by so fast. This book was WONDERFUL! I loved how in the end it ended where the first book of the Warriors series started. It was very interesting about how much Yellowfang suffered in her life. I knew that she had suffered, but not his badly. An important lesson was learned when I finished this book, trust your instincts!!! After reading the last hope (I feel like my brain is still recovering from that mess) I told myself I was done with Warriors. Well I saw this book and was like hey cool Yellowfang, it's on sale, what the heck, I'll read it! Haha bad idea.
It's not that Yellowfang's Secret was necessarily a bad book, it just seemed like I was reading something I had already read.

So far in this book, it has made me laugh and literally almost cry with this story line. I mean, I usually just read it and move on to another but i have to say that this book has been truly amazing so far. Erin Hunter has outdone herself this time. She really figured out a way to add a good back story to someone hardly gone into detail throughout the actual series. I really hope that she comes up with more books like this one, because so far, it has been the best.

to tell the truth, i didn't like this book. it does not explains much anything about anything. I think it needs more thrill, though it did suck me in. I got confusing at the end, and it broke of at the worst place EVER.
