Denise Grover Swank is such an awesome author. I love every single thing she has written. Including this book. I wish I hadn't waited so long between when I read the first book in this series. I had a little bit of trouble getting back up to speed. Maybe eventually I will re-read the first one. But "There" did a pretty good job of filling in the blanks in my brain during the first chapter or two. In the first book Evan had a device that enabled him to travel to an alternate dimension where he ca ...more

Totally different than, but as intriguing and brilliantly imagined as HERE. The inside of this book is as gorgeous as the cover, with characters and a world in turmoil, and the question of how far love can actually take you smack dab in the middle. There's nothing else out there in YA like these two books, so if you're looking for something different and wonderful, I highly recommend these.

(Spoiler Alert: If you haven't read the first book in the series, there will be some spoilers here because it's impossible to talk about the plot without giving some things away.)

I liked the first book quite a bit, but this one was even better. Although I'm not generally a fan of love triangles, this one was written in such an original way that it actually made sense. The Julia of this world is in love with Evan, but as the memories of the Julia of the other world continue to invade her consciou

I really liked Here, so i was looking forward to reading There.
Unfortunately, i was really disappointed.
There was really slow. Through the majority of it, i was really really bored.

I found some of the storyline quite predictable, and i didn't like where it was going, either.

The characters annoyed me in this one, which only made it more dull.

Overall, the story was dull, and i really wish i finished at book one.

There, the follow-up to Here, is a fantastic continuation of the "On the Otherside" series! It basically picks up where Here left off and turns into an action packed journey across what remains of the former USA. What truly makes it interesting is learning that, in spite of the radiation risk, people still live in the nuclear ravaged world outside of the sterile and military guarded "other" Springfield. There's civilization out there that the UR would rather you do not know about. That's where t ...more

Julia is stuck in an alternate universe and on the run from the UR. Her and her two boyfriends Reece, and Evan go on a wild ride and pick up the super awesome kickass Jo.
What I loved:
This book was amazingly good. Swank is one of heck of a master world builder and her characters are dynamic and full of life. Jo was an amazing addition to the cast and in my mind made this book what it was. Without all of the twists and turns that her character takes thing could have gotten dull. Julia is faced w

What a ride! This was such an incredible journey for me. Denise has opened my eyes to a new genre of writing. Truly captivated by this story of hope, love, desperation, and survival. Here was the first book I read by Denise and although it was out of my reading comfort zone, I dove into it and spent an entire night on edge of compustion to finish. I was broken at the end knowing what a horrible and tragic wait it would be for the rest of the story to be released but my goodness this woman delive ...more

This is book 2 in the ‘On the Otherside’ series, and kicks off where book 1 left off.
Julia, Evan and Reece are on the run, minus the black box, and with little idea of what to do.

Julia keeps experiencing the other Julia’s memories,

and they rescue a kidnapped girl called Jo to try and help them get where they’re going.
Can Julia ever go home? With the other Julia take her over? And which boy will she pick?

I really enjoyed the first book in the series

On the Other Side #2

When I read Here, the first book in the series, I fell in love – with the characters and the storyline, it was a book I never wanted to end. When I started reading There I was hesitant, surely it couldn’t be as good but I’m so glad I was proven wrong – it was so much better.

The epilogue made the book for me. You don’t often get an ending that finishes it off nicely but still leaves you wanting so much more. This series could easily go on forever and

“There” is the second book in the “On the Other Side” Series by Denise Grover Swank. Throughout the whole book, I wondered how Julia, Evan, Reece, and Jo were going to get out of this. I was amazed that DGS found a way out of all of it. The ending is bitter sweat in my opinion, but I liked it. It leaves an opening for another book, I’m not sure if this is the end of the series or not, I certainly hope not, but everything is finished and no questions are left unanswered. This may be the final book in the series - or maybe not. I'm hoping not.

I could hardly keep up with this book - my mind wanted me to hurry and hurl myself toward the conclusion and my heart wanted to stay back and spend time with the characters (knowing this is the final book in the series published to date). I'm actually surprised how much I enjoyed the story and how compelling I found the characters.

Whenever I had to break away from reading I found myself mulling over the possibilities raised

Have you ever wanted to kick yourself for being afraid of something, only to find that when you actually worked up the nerve and finally forced yourself to face it, you found there really wasn't anything to face in the first place? That's how I am feeling about holding out on reading this unbelievable series! I loved it. My only sadness is that there were only two books to the series. This is an awesome set of young adult books, that definitely work for any age, as I'm in my fifti

The idea of infinite universes opens up the possibility to infinite stories, and that is precisely what Denise wrote. The possibilities are only as limited as the choices we make - even the minute ones.

Julia, Monica, Evan, Reece … Jo … so many characters and so many choices to be made. Julia is trying to survive in a universe that not only isn't her own, but one where the lingering memories of the "other" Julia are trying to take over her mind. Who can she trust? Everyone seems to have their ow

This book is the sequel to "Here" which I loved. "There" continues the story with new characters, more suspenseful scenes and emotional turmoil. I don't usually read YA books but while reading these, I forgot that these are books meant for teens and young adults. Ms. Swank certainly does not write "down" for these books and while the characters are teenagers, the story is just as well-written and suspenseful as her other books. "There" has the depth of character development and emotional roller ...more

Cute and interesting

The first book in this series popped up in my kindle unlimited and I decided to give it a try. I liked the story, and really wanted to find out what Evans deal was so it kept me interested. What I didn't like, is the same thing I don't like in most YA novels, the fact that the female character is always dependent on the male to save her and in most cases 2 guys she has to pick between. It was a cute, quick read but if your looking for something with substance this series is n

The second book in the On the Otherside series. This book answered some of the questions I had from the first book (Here) but I still have some questions that I hope will be addressed in a third book. I loved the addition of Jo to the storyline – she adds another dimension to the Reece-Evan-Julia trio. Anytime an author makes you think about the characters outside the story and anticipate the next book in the series, it is a success. This exciting follow up to the book "Here" is a great look at what happens to Julia, Reece, and Evan now that Evan has brought Julia to their universe and they cannot get her back to her own. In a post-nuclear apocalyptic world, the dangers and obstacles they face are beyond what any of them imagine, but they grow stronger together, and learn valuable lessons along the way. The characters are vivid in my mind as I read about them, they are young, inexperienced, and scared, and you really find yo ...more

Recommends it for: Geek Girls and Sci Fi Nerds!
I highly advise against reading this book if you have not read Here – On The Otherside #1. This book made this geek girl very happy! I am also a science fiction nerd and I love the concept of alternate universes. The idea that there are worlds just like ours and that they have “us” on them is just too cool for words.

Full of the exceptional characters and writing style that we have all come to love, Swank delivers the much anticipated sequel to HERE on the Otherside. And like every other book that she has out, THERE promises to be a huge success.

Julia, Evan, and Reece are on the run from the --> United Region. They know that Julia is not from their universe and they want her dead. But during their escape, Evan hurts his leg and infection sets in. Now, on to

In the sequel to "Here", Julia is trapped in the other dimension. In an attempt to save her life from the United Regions, she escapes with Evan and Reese to find the "Rebels", specifically Reese's mom. The hope is that the Rebels and Reese's mom will provide a safe-haven as well as help return Julia to her world, but it turns out that the Rebels are no better than the United Regions and the three teenagers, along with a new friend Jo, are on a quest to stay alive.

Great sequel to "Here" (which you must read first). This picks up right after "Here" left off. Loved that we learned more about the backstory of the relationships between Evan, Reece and Julia. I found myself intrigued with the story and trying to figure out what was actually going to happen. Denise has a way with painting a picture of the story so you feel you are there with the characters. Loved the possibilities the ending gives. Look forward to another book in the series.

This book is amazing! A page turner for sure! Must read! Love the parallel worlds and i just have to wonder sometimes if they exist and how cool would that be! Book was filled with action, and it was truly entertaning. I absolutely love all of the characters in the, maybe not the bad guys but the main characters i love..I love Jo as well..She seems like a total bad chick who can kick some butt!!
Hoping for a third book would love to read Jo's POV

Finding yourself in a parallel universe with laws much harsher than you’re used to, with people you thought you trusted but who want you dead. You cannot blame Julia’s persistence at wanting find a way back home. With all this taking place there is the addition of trying to avoid radiation poisoning and being burned alive by the sun. This is not a story line you are likely to get bored of.

This is a fantastic example of a sci-fi adventure and greatly exceeds that of its introductory novel in term

There picks up where Here left off. Julia, Evan, Reece and Jo are trying to survive and find a place that they can be safe. Lots of action, some romance, some violence and lots of tension between the characters. There does not disappoint and is suitable for teens and adults as well. I really liked this book and hope that there will be a book 3 in the series. I would love to read more about these characters.
