WOW loved this! Another favourite to add to the long growing list. This year has been one of the best book-wise. I loved Levi and Allies banter and how she played hard to get and always had something to say and they challenged each other. It's like Levi didn't know how to handle her because no one had ever not melted into a puddle at his feet and done everything he asked and Allie and him were perfect together because she wouldn't let him intimidate her.

Allie starts Princeton in the fall so she wants one last adventurous summer away from her ex-boyfriend. Allie and her friend Jess decide to work at her dad's hotel in New Orleans. Jess is a bit boy crazy and immediately wants to check out the New Orleans night life and eye candy while Allie wants to stay boy free. They meet Levi and his friends who are more than happy to show them a good time. I loved the paranormal aspect of this book. The synopsis doesn't give much away and neither will I because I don't want to ruin the surprise. It is totally different than anything I have read. The whole time I'm wondering who and what is this supernatural society?! When some of the info does come out Allie takes it surprisingly well. There is a good and fun side to it that she enjoys and I would too. She is open to what is happening but doesn't fully understand the implications she could get caught up in. There is always a downside to everything isn't there. Especially something you don't fully understand. I will say I loved the underground world, party and interesting hierarchy that was mentioned but the end had also had some scary scenes and showed the evil side of the paranormal world as well.

Levi is sexy, sometimes arrogant, but also sweet. From the moment he sees Allie he knows he wants her and he won't give up. He doesn't get too stalkerish or psycho but he is persistent. I loved Levi but towards the end he does something bad and sneaky and totally wrong but I still have hope that they will work it out. I have so much I want to say but I am trying to keep the supernatural society mystery so I can't get too into it but I just loved it!!!!! I could not put the book down and read the entire thing in one sitting. I honestly don't think I even took one break. lol I really really need the next book already!

"You're so beautiful. So unbelievably beautiful..." he trailed off as his lips met mine. The kiss started off gentle but neither of us could keep it that way for long. It might have been our second kiss, but it was our first real one. I realized quickly that the first time at the bar we had both been holding back. I did a cover reveal for Flight and when I read the blurb I knew I had to read it. Lord was I not disappointed! Flight takes place in New Orleans and if any of you know New Orleans is beautiful. Hurricane Katrina tore it apart but the folks put it back together and most of the historic district was saved. While reading flight I kept picturing certain places in my mind and I am so glad I had those extra visuals because this book had me hooked from the very beginning.

Fast n easy read..
Different from other shifter books .
I loved Allie's attitude even though she like attracted to Levi she fights knowing when she was lied and betrayed too..though levi is hot n yummy...i was sad to see he lied to allie like that..and i think anyone would have reacted like Allie..i was seriously pissed and angry but oh well i also want to see how he woos her back and makes her to his side!It was definitely a fun read!

Maybe I missed a memo somewhere. Are all paranormal romance books 15% paranormal and 85% romance? It sure seems like it after the last few I’ve read, and I can’t say I like the trend. Flight is no different. While there are paranormal elements sprinkled in and some of the main characters are paranormal in nature, the feel of the book is almost entirely that of a YA/New Adult romance. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m perfectly fine with reading romance books, though I prefer to know how heavily those...more Maybe I missed a memo somewhere. While there are paranormal elements sprinkled in and some of the main characters are paranormal in nature, the feel of the book is almost entirely that of a YA/New Adult romance. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m perfectly fine with reading romance books, though I prefer to know how heavily those elements are going to be used beforehand, but it needs to be done right.

Unfortunately, for me at least, Flight was not. I wanted to like this book, the writing was great, the style choices and pacing Alyssa Rose Ivy went with fit perfectly, but the romance… well it had some of my least favorite things, including the worst offender of all. That’s right, the dreaded insta-love strikes again. I don’t care one iota that Allie “resists” Levi in the beginning, which really is more her fighting off an instant attraction (ugh) for a while and eventually giving in one level at a time. Can insta-love not be a thing? Pretty please? Can’t the romance develop naturally and not be painfully obvious? *sigh*

I wish that was the only problem, but Flight committed another “crime” of romance books, the overly dominant/controlling male. Yup, Levi is one of those guys. He acts like he has control over her almost immediately, he refuses to take no for an answer even when she actually meant that she didn’t want anything to do with him, and acts like a jerk for half the book. I don’t want to spoil it, but there is a scene where he essentially gives her no options and just makes her get what he wants her to, I don’t care that she might have enjoyed the result, I can’t stand that. Let her decide what she wants! That goes for everything, not just that one scene.

To do further damage Levi near the end tricks her into something that she can’t escape from (no not that) and it’s despicable. His intentions weren’t even pure, it was crap and he did it because like all macho guys seem to be, he was scared. Not good enough. The guy may care for her, but he acts like a tool, and refuses to let her just be. Ugh.

The writing really was good, but even the few action scenes couldn’t save this for me. I have the second book in the series, Focus, but at this point I’m really not sure that I’ll read it. If it is anything like Flight in the balance of romance/paranormal, and if Levi doesn’t change at all, I guarantee it would be a DNF, so it’s probably not worth the time or effort. We’ll see, I’ll let it sit in my kindle for a while.

This book starts off as what you would think is a normal YA romance.
Only half way through the book do you find out that Levi is more than what he appears to be.
Even once his true identity has been revealed that are more secrets that await.

Allie is such a great girl to read about. At first I thought she was going to be a stick in the mud but then she really started opening up. Learning their is supernatural creatures around she took pretty good. Watching her fall for Levi was a joy to read because she didn't automatically fall for him. It took time and that was nice. When faced with danger she tried to remain calm use her head. When she was lied to I could see how she would react the way she did. Levi is so yummy. Makes you want a Pteron for your own. At first he seemed so sure of hisself but I think Allie brought him down a notch or two. He does some stupid things in the book that make you want to slap him but you can see he does it because he cares for Allie. There is so many more great characters in this book.

When I started reading this book I never put it down till I was finished and was so glad I had the next one ready to be read. You really get a base for the characters and story line in this book that makes you understand the world you find yourself in. In a world were vampires are a low class of paranormal and the Pteron are the top it is a different but great read. The action really gets going at the end and you don't want it to stop. The romance is a little different than other books but I liked that. The ending will leave you begging for more as you just have to see what Allie is going to do. Be sure to pick this one up as it is a great start to a series. (less)

Flight was a book with a lot of potential, but unfortunately it was poorly executed. I am an native New Orleanian, Louisiana born and raised, so I was expecting a lot from the author as far as descriptive details go. I was only mildly appeased and was disappointed at the lack of justice the author does for this great city. She failed to capture the heart and soul of New Orleans in Flight and that was a major problem. I was only mildly appeased and was disappointed at the lack of justice the author does for this great city. She failed to capture the heart and soul of New Orleans in Flight and that was a major problem. At the end of the book, one of the reasons Levi and his mother use to keep Allie close by, is that the city of New Orleans depends upon it. Since I was unable to feel the spirit of New Orleans, it made the reason look weak and transparent. If you don't due this than you ruin this city. It leaned more towards evil coercing than a general affinity and concern for New Oleans well being coming from the characters. So that was a problem.
Another major issue is Levi's decision to reveal his secret and Allie's acceptance of it. We are never given a clear reason why he gives away something that could destroy his friends and family if word got out, to someone who is little more than a stranger. He just suddenly decidied to pop out and say "Hey, check this out!" And then Allie freaks out for a nanosecond before she is totally inthralled. There is no slow acceptance after given some facts, no logic vs. the impossible, she just gets over it and is ready for more. From a stranger. Yeah, that doesn't work for me.
I didn't get why the author had Jess and Jared in this book at all. Jared is a complete jerk with no reason as to why, and Jess is there and then she is gone. She doesn't act like a friend I woud want to hang out with all summer, and then she leaves before we even really get to know her as a character. The only purpose I could see for Jess and Jared was that they forced Allie to spend some time with Levi in the beginning, but that's it. Both are superfluous characers and I personally could have done without. Jess' role as Allie's friend is replaced by Hailey and thankfully she was a much better supporting character.
The flow of the book was passable, but most certainly could have been improved, the dialogue was rough at times, and what Levi did at the end pissed me off. I expected him to be a more upfront and honest guy instead of the sly bastard we get at the end. However I will be purchasing the second book. Why? Well, truthfully, I felt the chemistry between Levi and Allie and I want to see where their relationship goes. I also really enjoyed Allie as our main character. She didn't just bend over and let Levi mark his territory. I found her to be a strong, semi-relatable female lead and I liked that about her. Also we are given very little information about the shifter community and (with hopes of improved writing) I am surprisingly eager to read about this hidden society in my very own city. With supressed hope I tenatively look forward to the next book in what has the potential to be a great series.(less)

Started my review...deleted...started again...deleted. Can I really begin my review with 'Well, I didn't hate it'? Because I really really wanted to like it. I would adore spending a summer in New Orleans. That's one of the biggest things that attracted me to this story. Alyssa Rose Ivy has a way of making the city so colorful and I enjoyed every minute of exploring the city.

As far as characters go, I did like Allie. She seemed goal oriented and responsible for her young age. However, at times I didn't feel like her character always added up because of the way she acted. I understood that she didn't have a lot of parental involvement, but one moment...more

Flight is fantastic, fun, and far more mysterious than expected! Alyssa Rose Ivy creates the perfect blend of fantasy and paranormal romance as the story follows college-bound Allie as she discovers a beautiful love, New Orleans, and a hidden world straight out of a fairy tale.

So I have only read one other of Alyssa' books *Derailed* which is a contemp book. We should all know by now that while those are not really "my thang" I do enjoy them every now and then. Allie.. What a great female character! Pretty, smart, wealthy*but doesn't flaunt it*, strong character... what is not to love. She has sworn off men after some trouble and well when she arrives in New Orleans, let's just say she doesn't stand a chance. I love how she handles herself, in all situations. Her friend Jess.. she was ok but I couldn't really get into her other than she was there. I really got pissed at her at one point.

Levi.. What can I say... *Hottness* arrogant? yes... But as the story goes along, Not so much! This guy has it all! He is smart, sexy and Alpha! Adventure is sure to be had anytime Levi and his buddies are around.

He has that "bad boy" appeal to him. I fell for him with his smooth talking and not giving up attitude. He wan't pushy and never took things "too far" when he met Allie. There are times when I would be all swoony over him and something he says...

The story line was great! NO, you won't get spoilers from me *winks* It's unique and exciting... Then it gets dangerous! Cannot wait to see what happens next! The other characters Owen , Jared, Haley .. I adored each of them although at one point I wanted to punch one of them in the face... he totally made up for it later!

I took an instant liking to Allie, but I had a hard time imagining her as an 18-year-old the summer before college - she seemed older. I just want to start out and say this is absolutely a wonderful New Adult Novel. It's a perfect story for this genre. There is the sense of independence, learning/making mistakes and a whole lot more that contributes to this great genre. I feel that the writing was purely excellent including the scenes, dialogue, and the setting as you just get a feel of what New Orleans is like, and what happens there on a daily basis, and that is one city I would definitely love to visit! This is my first time reading Ivy's work, and I now just can't wait to read more of her awesome stories, as she is a wonderful writer, and storyteller! The moment that I saw the book cover for Flight by Alyssa Rose Ivy, I knew I had to read this book. Within the first page I was completely pulled into the story and I could not put it down until I reached the end.

After reading this, I somehow agree he pretty much deserved it. He kept a lot of things from Allie and tricked her into marrying him.But I love them both. They looked so good together and Allie doesn't back down with him on anything. And Levi felt challenged every time Allie starts to argue with him. Allie is an intelligent and independent girl perfect for him and he just knew that he would go crazy as soon as Allie leaves for college and so he tricked her.
On the contrary, Allie thought it was a small fling and soon both of them will forget about what happened. But she knew inside that she had deeper feelings for him. But one day things went messed up when she ended wearing the ring, the family heirloom that signifies as her being his mate. I did enjoy this book and it leaves me hanging at the end. I'm excited on how he's going to win Ally. For those who haven't read this one, I suggest you do. It's quite refreshing and you'll gonna love Levi and the way he acts cocky and smug.And as for Allison, you'll gonna love her too. She's intelligent, beautiful and independent.

I have only myself to blame. What was I thinking picking this up when I’d read two of this author’s contemporaries and was anything but impressed? Truth be told I came away from those thinking there was nothing new to them, rather pedestrian romances with little to offer. I could say the same for this one too… Though pedestrian paranormal romance is a mouthful, isn’t it?

She meets Levi and his friends who all have a secret, which after her friend leaves back for New York, they reveal to her.

I felt like the premise was good- nice and original. The whole thing just felt somewhat underdeveloped. Like the plot and all of the characters have so much potential that i just don't think was properly described or tapped into. Despite seeming constantly to kinda rudely rebuff Levi, he is apparently completely enamoured with her. I wanted so badly to really love this book, and the truth is that i probably will continue with the series when it comes out, but i couldn't help feeling a little disappointed with it. The secrets that Levi has are barely explained, and a lot is left untold about his world.

I completely understand where Allie is coming from by the end of the book in terms of where she stands on her relationship with Levi, but this whole 'you-cant-leave-or-the-whole-of-new-orleans-will-go-to-shit' thing just seemed a little contrived... Plus, what i really want in a hero is a guy who i can see myself kinda falling in love with myself, and i just didnt get that with Levi. He's meant to be some bad boy but he does some pretty shady stuff, and if i were Allie, i would have demanded a lot more explanation before the whole torn apart part of the book happens. I mean, conning someone into being your irreversible life long mate is pretty bad, no matter how much you care about them.

The major drama comes and goes. Seriously, i just felt like it kind of passed me by. There wasnt enough tension or drama for my taste, and i felt like Allie wasnt even really effected by it. I wanted to feel her panic and pain and stress, but it just kind of happened. I was seriously just wanting more from the book in general, and not necessarily in a good way... (less)

Allie doesn't know who Levi really is - and when she finds out , she might never be safe.
Levi feels that she can be reliable and that's why he reveals his big secret to her. Levi and his friends - Hailey , Owen and Jared - are shifters , but not that kind of shifters we see in movies .
At one time their people shifted into crows but over time they became more of a hybrid (that's funny, because when I first read that they have wings , I thought they were angels , but the author's idea was better). I also liked the fact that Allie didn't run away when she find out the truth . Of course , she was scared , but she wasn't scared enough to hide from them. In fact , she really liked what she discovered. She thought it was cool (and so do I).
Like I said , things between Allie and Levi are getting more serious , especially when Levi gave her ''the family's ring''. Allie accepted it , but she never knew that Levi was lying her. That was more than a family ring , it was the ring who made Allie Levie's made.
When Allie finds out the truth , she runs away from Levie and his friends (this time she really runs away) . Things aren't how she planned because she is kidnapped .
Will Allie understand the ring's role in her life and will Levi find her before things get worse?
You have to read the book to find out.

This book was F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C and I'm not exaggerating. If you're looking for a good book , you should read ''Flight''.

The whole story takes place in New Orleans. I searched the city online, since I was going to spend the entire book in it, and Oh My God!! The city looks amazing, so beautiful and different. I mean French-Creole architecture and birthplace of jazz, there is nothing else I need. Luckily, the author transfers you in it. There are not many descriptions, because we are more focused on the characters, but there are vivid and smart dialogues that move very fast and they give you a sense of reality while reading.

The characters are very nice. Despite following Allie's point of view, she manages to give us a complete image of all the rest.

Allie is not a bad person herself. Thankfully, she's not idiot or nerve breaking.

Her best friend, Jess, on the other hand is a little too happy and easy going. I didn't like her that much, but something happens in the book and we don't see her much after a point.

Then there is Levi, the guy on the cover. I don't think there would be a girl who hates him. He's the best guy you can find. Caring with a hint of a bad-boy attitude. And super hot, according to Allie.

Minor characters include Levi's friends, Owen and Jared, completely different from each other, it's too bad we don't see them much or learn more about them.

And Hailey, Owen's sister. I really liked her, because she's not very down-to-earth and she always seem to light the mood when she's around, but she can be serious whenever it's required.

During the end something happens, that determines your opinion about everyone. I'm sorry, I can't say more, because I'll spoil the whole story, but some events might lead you to change your opinion about both main characters, Allie and Levi.

Bottom line, I loved it. I loved how fast it was. It's too bad we don't see much action, though. And the length of it was small too, 255 in e-book pages. I really hope to learn more about the characters and the supernatural society in the next one. I can't wait.(less)

{my thoughts} - This book is about a girl named Allison {allie}, she goes to New Orleans to work for her father at a hotel he recently bought. While working there she becomes friends with Owen, Hailey, Levi and Jarred. She eventually learns that they are not normal by any means of the actual definition. At first she's scared but then she starts to look at it from the curiosity angle. That's when things in her life change far more then anyone person can imagine.
