I loved this book! It was written so well. When I first read what it was going to be about, I was scared that I wouldn’t be able to keep up with it. But, it was fantastic. I enjoyed “glimmering” with Paige.

Three and a half stars: A sweet feel good romance with three stories in one.

Paige is a busy, hardworking mother. Balancing two children, a husband, home and added on top of all that she is helping plan her sister's upcoming wedding. Paige enjoys the few moments she has to herself, like her recent shopping spree to a consignment store. It is Paige's lucky day when she finds a pair of soft suede ankle boots. She snatches them up along with a great pair of jeans. Life is good. Later that day, Paige slips on the boots and prepares to do battle with dinner preparation when something strange happens.....suddenly she finds herself in the body of a teenage girl named Delilah and it is 1988. Paige learns she has a new ability to relive moments in the past of other people when she touches an item that was of importance to that person. But when she ends up in vision involving her sister, things get a little dicey. Will Paige's visions ruin her relationship with her sister, or will they teach her a thing or two about life and love?
What I Liked:
*Glimmers is a great feel good novel that leaves you with a smile on your face. I had a couple of rough reads this past week so this book was just what I needed to pull me out of a reading rut. It is sweet and simple and deals with falling in love and listening to your heart, even if that means making a difficult decision and going against what others feel is the best path for the future when it comes to love.
*I liked that this book wrapped three stories in one. Paige begins to experience flashback vision after she handles an item. The first time she ends up in North Carolina in 1988 in a teenage girl's body named Delilah. Delilah is eighteen, just graduated and ready to take on life. She meets a handsome wealthy boy at the resort where she works. What follows is a whirlwind summer romance, that is forbidden because it is against the rules to date a guest as an employee. Despite the difficulties the relationship flourishes until Delilah meets William's overbearing mother. The second glimmer involves Paige's sister Hailey. Hailey is engaged to be married but Paige learns that she is hiding something. This secret not only could destroy their relationship but Hailey's love life as well. Finally, the third vision takes Paige back to 1818. She sees her ancestor Emily and watches her grapple with the decision to marry the person her parents expect her to despite the fact she isn't in love with him or follow her heart. In the end, Paige learns some valuable lessons about life and love. I liked how all three of this stories converged to form one great read.
*I was pleased to find that this indie, self pubbed read not only was a good solid story but it was perfectly edited and I did not run across any errors or problems. So pick this up with confidence knowing you are getting a good book.
And The Not So Much:
*The one thing that bothered me about this book was that I adored the first story involving Delilah and William. I really enjoyed the flashback to the late eighties since I was a teenager during this time period, so I could easily relate, but just when the conflict strikes, the vision fades and leaves the story. I was anxious the rest of the book wondering when the plot would get back to Delilah, how she would fit into Paige's life and what happened with the romance. When the story finally returns to Delilah at the end, all the details are glossed over about how the conflict was resolved, I was dying to know everything and so I was disappointed that it was brushed over.
*The whole "glimmer" time travel episodes are not explained until the end of the book so I was left scratching my head most of the read wondering how and why. It is best just to accept the adventure and not worry too much about the specifics because even when the explanation is provided for the glimmer events, it defies belief and you just need to use your imagination and enjoy the journey.
*Since the book revolves around Paige having vision of other people's love life I found myself wanting to know more about her romantic past. Paige is married to a good solid man and they have two children, and of course, with kids and jobs and everything else some of the sparks have faded a bit, but they are still happy in their marriage. I wish that there was more insight on how Paige met and married her husband since it is a big theme of the book.

Glimmer was a nice feel good book that pulled me out of a reading rut. It features three romantic stories blended into one with a dash of paranormal magic. This is solid indie book that I would highly recommend to anyone looking to read more indie books. This is the first of a series and I look forward to seeing Paige's future glimmers.

Once I had read the synopsis for this book I was very intrigued and I have to say this book did not disappoint.

Paige lives an ordinary family life, husband and children then one day something odd happens to her, she feels as if she is transported to somebody else's life, she thinks and feels everything that the other person does and is living their life. The main character is an adult and she is married and has children. I promise, it's not confusing at all though! But because of this nearly the first 20% (after the initial chapter) is narrated by a teenager in West Virginia in the 80's. This is the summer she works at a resort and falls in love for the first time. We get several months of her life before Paige ends up back in her body in her time and suddenly she has mad cooking skills acquired from her time with the other girl. Then she ends up in her sisters body (a memory because it's the week before) and see's a major secret. This opens up a big plot for this portion of the book in her own time. And then there's a Glimmer where she goes into an ancestors memory and when she fell in love the first time. So it felt like three stories in one and worked brilliant!

Paige herself might be a grown woman, but there's no cursing, no sex (fades out before anything happens) and she has a young voice. I definitely think that plenty of teens would enjoy this book and there's not really any inappropriate scenes. Some have complained that it's too fluffy. I don't get it, what's wrong with fluff? Unless you're looking for something incredibly deep you should be satisfied because there are issues presented in the book. It's not complete fluff by any means. Another complaint is that it reads like a YA. Well, I love YA so I would never complain about that. But I think it's a good idea to go in knowing that it reads that way. Paige may feel young, but it felt more like young at heart, not some teenager in a 30 year old's body or anything.

I most definitely recommend this book. It's an easy read that you can fly through in no time at all. There's no long boring parts and you'll find yourself wondering how things could go for each of the characters. But don't worry, there's no cliffhanger! And this is the first of a series. The next one comes out soon!

As the previous owner of the boots, Delilah's memories will take Paige through the summer of 1988, working at a resort lodge, where she meets William, the son of a DC politician and socialite mother. But by the time summer vacation is drawing to a close, Delilah knows that there will be no future with William and embarks on a heartbreaking series of events to ensure that William is no longer a part of her life.

Paige has no explanation for her sudden ability to experience the memories of someone else. And the most confusing side-effect, Paige is now able to cook like a gourmet chef!!!! Didn't Delilah have hopes and dreams of one day opening a French style restaurant? Not realizing why or how this has occurred, she tries to proceed as usual but the vivid memories continue to haunt. When she finally confesses to her husband Elliot, he is concerned that perhaps his wife is ill, but her determination to prove that Delilah exists will take both she and Elliot on a surfing safari through the internet-but with no luck.

Hailey is Paige's younger sister. About to marry Derek, Paige has agreed to help Hailey, including picking up her engagement ring from the jewelers. And yes, you guessed it, Paige is pulled in to her sister's memories, but what Paige finds is nothing that she could have imagined. And it will take Paige and her mother, Elliot, Hailey and someone from Hailey's memories to ensure that Hailey's 'happily ever after' will take place with the right man.

Her continued ventures into the past has Paige anxious and worried. Elliot has considered both emotional stress and a possible brain tumor, but Paige is determined to prove that she has come into some 'super powers' as she has now named her ability. And her mother's visit will bring everything into focus. With each travel back in time, her focus becomes clearer, her vision opens. And it is the memories attached to her great grandmother's cameo earrings that will push Paige to help Hailey make the most important decision of her life. And like the memories from the past, real life will come full circle and Paige will finally have the chance to meet the woman who experienced her first love in the summer of 1988.

GLIMMERS is a wonderful story, written in first person POV, without foul language, graphic sex and violence, or confusing plotlines. The premise is interesting, nothing original, but well worth the price of admission. I am looking forward to the second storyline-Beyond Glimmers-I have no problem recommending this book.

Glimmers is a fresh mash-up of women's fiction, romance, with flashes of fantasy. It's light summer read perfect for a day by the pool (or in my case, curled up on a rainy day) and tame enough for audiences from YA to grandmothers — no offensive language or explicit sex (though a few inferences are there). Paige is a relatable character, and I can imagine hanging out with her and discussing our days over a glass of wine.

Though the novel just skims the surface of the powers involved in living memories via touch, I hope to discover more about the unique trait passes down through Paige's family in later books. I look forward to seeing how Brooke develops the characters in the next installment, Beyond Glimmers, due later this year.(less)

In this book, Paige has "glimmers" into the past, where she experiences another person's memories by touching their possessions. Throughout the book, she goes through three of these "glimmers", that kind of read like short stories. The stories' plot and content themselves were interesting - I would say they were mostly of the romance genre, but they developed in a cute and innocent type of way. It wasn't insta-love, but more written in a Sarah Dessen type of way, so I did enjoy them for the most part. My only complaint is that the transitions between the present and Paige's glimmers seemed a little awkward - Paige would touch the object, she would think there's a glimmer coming up, and the glimmer would come. Apart from that though, I loved the author's story!

Barbara Brooke's writing style is also easy to read, making this a quick weekend read for me! My curiosity of what would happen next kept me turning pages for a long time, until the sweet ending. Each of the character's voices was also engaging and relatable, especially for a teenager like me ^__^ My only complaint is that because this book was such a light, easy, and fun read, some parts of the book seemed a bit rushed, but not too much. The ending was also a bit predictable, but again, it was fulfilling and sweet!

Overall, Glimmers was a short and sweet romance read, one that would probably appeal to YA and Adult readers of romance alike! This book is also the first part in a series, the second being Beyond Glimmers, but it could also be read as a stand alone (: If you're looking for a fulfilling but short, sweet and cheap read, I highly recommend this book to you!

LOVED this book, Barbara Brooke takes us on unexpected journeys thru time when with just the touch of an object emotionally attached to the owner our lovely Paige gets a "Glimmer" into someone's life seeing thru their eyes,feeling their emotions.
This all helps Paige improve her life and discover new talents, Her Husband Elliot is delightful, fun, loving and supportive, This book is lighthearted and just a feelgood story. I highly recommend this book if you want to smile :) I give it 5 sparkles....more

While I liked Paige, I didn't love her voice all that much. In fact, my favorite parts of this story are those moments when Paige isn't the main character. When she is getting glimpses into other people's lives.

I love the whole idea of touching something, an antique pin at a flea market or a vintage dress, or an old watch, etc. and being able to *know* things about the previous owners.

Interesting .. glimmers are glimpses into peoples lives when you touch something that belongs to them. Say like you try on a pair of shoes that used to belong to someone else and you get to see a part of their life. In this story, there are a few glimmers that happen to one person and how they all tie together is very interesting and makes a good read and sometimes hilarious. I would recommend it. I like to call this an escape book, a book you can escape into.

I got this as a free book on Amazon. Wasn't thinking to much about it till today when I wanted something upbeat to read. I started it and couldn't put my kindle down. I want to thank the author, Barbara Brooke, for choosing me as a winner of "Glimmers" during her recent book giveaway here at Goodreads.

I have been a long time fan of time travel stories. I especially enjoyed the way the author opened the story with the main character on a shopping spree. I really thought she was shopping until I discovered she was just reliving a recent one while driving her children to school.

This was an interesting first novel from author Barbara Brooke. I found the story entertaining yet I definitely felt it needed more development.

While I enjoyed the first and last Glimmer stories, I also felt that both needed more detail and development. For example, I wanted to know more about the courtship between Delilah and William and the narrative jumped from their first weeks together to the end of the summer without any detail. I really enjoyed this, both the idea and the story itself. It's about a girl who can suddenly see into the lives of people who've previously owned an item she picks up. Not all the time but it just happens when she least expects it. It then goes into the lives of these other women in detail and it's really interesting. An American girl in the 80's, an English girl in the 1800's are just two so it's a nice and varied read too and you get to know those characters.

Sometimes I feel like three women at once and I have "glimmers" but not the same kind. I liked reading this book and imagining what it would be like to have life interupted and find yourself in someone else's shoes.

I was lucky enough to receive Glimmers through a Good Read First Read giveaway. I found it to be a sweet summer read. The concept of glimmering is a great device Barbara Brooke uses to weave multiple stories into one cohesive plot. Though I am not usually a fan of Hollywood endings, I found I was hoping for exactly that as I reached the final chapters. I also appreciated that it was a captivating adult romance that I could share with my teenager and my mother without hesitation.
