Once again, Merry Abbott has to catch a killer in the high-stakes world of carriage-horse competitions.

Nothing ruins an elegant Southern horse show like finding a murdered man with a tent spike through his neck. Merry's at the top of a long list of suspects who have plenty of reason to want the victim dead. But soon it becomes obvious that she's also at the top of the real

Like the first book in the series, it was an easy read - if you can forgive all the editing errors.

7,04 or $9,34 is just too much for a badly edited book.

OK mystery with a lot (probably too much) info on some horse racing sports. Unique but not something that captured my attention.

Engaging characters make up for a conclusion that isn't quite as narratively satisfying as it could be, and the solid, enjoyable writing is marred by the need for a thorough proofread. (Haflinger, not Halflinger, dammit!) On the whole, though, definitely enjoyable and I'm certainly looking forward to the next one.

Also, I'd let Merry Abbott look after my hypothetical horses - one of the few literary horsepeople who passes that test!

I do not care what price is on a book, if an author wishes to be taken seriously she MUST learn how to spell.
Other than that, I enjoyed the storyline and characters. Look forward to more in this series. Just PLEASE proofread and correct spelling and grammar errors before printing.

Another entry in the Merry series. Nice touches with carriage driving. Everything that made the first book is still here. ENjoyable read.

Carolyn McSparren started writing when she was a teenager, and always planned to be a professional writer and a college professor. That is, until she fell madly in love, dropped out of graduate school, and became a wife supporting a burgeoning opera singer husband. That led to a three-month trip to Germany that stretched into five years.

She wound up living in Germany, France, Italy, and came home
