When I read Lynn's novel Thin Air, the first book in this series, I was mesmerized by Lynn's poetic language and I was very glad to see more of it in Friendly Fire.
Alice and Daniel's relationship has become rocky with the ever present threat that looms over her, and they find themselves facing more danger to stay together. This book made me dislike Daniel, a lot. I found myself no longer rooting for them and their relationship (but not rooting for the other leg of this love triangle either). Da...more

I wasn’t really sure if I wanted to read this book or not but I remembered how much I loved my favourite character Dante and so I decided to read this one.
It’s rather unfortunate to say but I didn’t particularly enjoy this one. I struggled to finish the book and I’m kind of glad I was travelling on a bus all day because it meant I could force myself to read the book. I finished it and I really wanted to like it, but I just couldn’t.

This book was a bit darker than the first one. The characters each had their own insecurities that needed to be worked out and some new players came onto the scene. I liked the simplistic life of the first book, Thin Air, a bit more- but nothing can stay easy forever, right? Friendly Fire picks up a little bit after the end of Thin Air.
Alice is finally adjusting to life as a human, but Daniel isn't making it much easier for her. He doesn't want her to change at all. Personally, I thought he ove...more

I give it a 2.5. I feel the purpose of the series is getting lost.. Obviously the reason a second was created is because in the first book you learn that assassins are after Alice. So here comes the second book and i just feel like everything is all written to avoid creating an intricate storyline involving Paralda and his part. Being different is so prevalent in the first book. Alice appeared strange to everyone in the beginning. A bond with Dante begins because of the fact that they are both d...more
