Oh man oh man oh man. What a delightful surprise! The author sent this to me so that I could review the following book about Noir and Al that’s due out on November 25th, Ghosts of Christmas Past (The Phoenix Institute Series). So I settled in last night, knowing that since it was a novella it wouldn’t take me too long. ~STOP~ One hour later I’m floored! It is absolute genius! Okay, I’ll admit it, the name of the town in this book made me crack a smile every time. This entry in the Phoenix Institute series takes place in “Charlton City”. I never knew my husband’s family had a whole town named after them, even a fictional one.

The lieutenant ...more

Noir is invisible and can glow with an intense light, giving her a two-pronged superhero edge. She is Subject Six to Jill, the mad scientist responsible for her condition. Jill has turned her own brother, Jack, into a giant rage monster (wow, Incredible Hulk much?), and Jack and Jill have begun a deadly crime spree. Noir teams up with Lt. Aloy

Even better than the full length novels, which are really good. there's enough backstory and character arc to give real depth without trying to explain too much. i accidentally read the second story about these two characters before the first and found this even more refreshing.

A nice little side story in the Phoenix Institute universe. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Noir and Al.
