The description above tells you all you need to know about the basic premise of the book. This sounded like a fun comedy romp, and indeed the plot had plenty of scope for much hilarity as the three British OWLs (or Old White Ladies as they have been dubbed) get themselves into a difficult situation they are blissfully unaware of. I could suspend my disbelief and accept that, as savvy as they could be, they would buy into such a trip and be conned in the way they were. However the plot line wasn'...more

I knew when I read the poetic prologue of this book I was going to enjoy it. I call these types of books my ‘pink and fluffy’ reads…….. They are the escapes that have me laughing out loud, groaning in horror and dabbing my eye with a tissue. They are feel good books and brilliant to lighten any dark mood and make me forget about real life for a while…. I don’t read them often enough!!
These women are spunky!!! It’s not often you hear phrases like ‘Oh, Miss Negativity, he’ll phone. I feel it i...more

The island of Brazzina becomes the destination of three delightful a-bit-over-middle-age ladies in search of a holiday.
Micki Street concocts a thriller that develops in a most enjoyable way – for the reader if not necessarily the characters.

This is exactly what the English do best, we produce eccentric characters like the ladies featured in this novel and we love them because they do what they want when they want. And if something goes wrong, then they'll deal with it in their own unique way. And I can only wish that if I live to be in my sixties then I want to be like the women featured in this story because they take risks and that invariably leads to adventure, so life is never boring.

There are a lot of characters to get your teeth into in this book. The leading characters are English as “Apple crumble and cream, and a celebratory glass of port.” Hooray! Hooray! The ladies get more than they’ve bargained for. The comedy is driven by the antics the ladies get up to or want.
This is a kind of novel to read while winding down on the holiday on the beach. Get ready to laugh because some of the things the ladies get up to will make your hair curl.
