This is one of the best YA paranormal novels I've read recently. The premise is original: seventeen-year-old Seth wants better lives for his father and his girlfriend, and ends up inadvertently inviting a soul to share his body.
You sympathize with Seth right off the bat: his motivation is genuine concern for his loved ones. Dani, his girlfriend, is sweet and smart. When the point of view changes in the second part of the book, the reader already knows Dani and what she stands for, and the switch...more

Seth ... Seth what have you done? I think he just wanted to make things better. Instead well.. All hell happens!

I enjoyed this book. It was dark and light and I think brought together with a great balance. We have soul possession..:With a twist! I actually liked the lost soul..or felt compassion at one point. Do not judge me! Read the book and see if you agree.

The story is set in Idaho. Who knew crazy break...s out in Idaho! Power and...more

Seth is captivated by an online ad on eSouled, which offers power and control. Unknowingly, he offers another soul into his body that gives him magical powers and control. Once Seth finds out what the soul really wants, he does everything to make it stop, but it isn’t easy. The soul—Maksim—is there on a mission and now he will make Seth fall through with is will.

His girlfriend, Dani, must find a way to save the boy she loves; she must take risks in order to regain their relationship, and most i...more

This was a fun and exciting read as it brings to question just how much of a doubled-edged sword that love can somehow be in an unexpected situation. For Seth, he only wanted to make things better without knowing the ancient paranormal madness that would come to threaten all that he loved and cared about. For the YA Readers, this story will definitely grab your attention and hold on tight from beginning to the end. Kudos to Author Diana Murdock for writing such an entertaining tale. I will be lo...more

As Seth is looking for the perfect gift for his girlfriend Dani, an ad keeps popping up in different places on his computer. He tries to ignore it but every time he sees the ad it pulls at him; control and power, soul for sale. Although he figures it’s a scam, it is only a dollar, he bids and wins. He wins an ancient soul, Maksim a powerful sorcerer.
The ensuing story is powerful, engaging and just downright scary to think about. I love how the author told this story from Seth, Dani and lastly...more

By Diana Murdock

Seth is completely head over heels in love with his girlfriend, Dani, he would do anything for her and to keep her. So when he comes across an ad proclaiming a soul for sale that would give him more control over his life he reluctantly jumps at the opportunity, even if it turns out to be a hoax he would only be out one dollar. But then the ad turns out to be true and he finds himself with more than he bargained for.

I am always interested in a paranormal romance that is uni...more

Something extra special - Recommend to everyone!

Diana Murdock is one of my favourite authors. A year or so back, I read her first book, ‘Again’. It has haunted me ever since. This new book is no different. I read it a few months ago and yet again, I can’t get it out of my mind. The plot is genius, unique, full of suspense and the characters are fascinating, realistic and very easy to associate with. This, in itself, makes for an awesome book; but there is something else that makes Diana’s work e...more

Scalp tingling suspense within.... Diana Murdock could steal that for her cover, if she likes.
Last time I read a good YA book was an Indiana Jones series I read in my late teens. Well, now I'm a 37-year-old completely drawn inside the world of Sandpoint, Idaho. I can't wait for the official copies to be ready and on Amazon for sale. I have a niece's birthday coming up and I believe this to be the perfect gift for a new 15-year-old.
So, let's outline why I like it:
The characters are real and engag...more

I was the lucky winner of a signed paperback copy of Souled in a friend's giveaway awhile back. I've been eager to read it ever since! I'm so glad I did too, because it totally hypnotized me. This was a terrifyingly fantastic read! Terrifying in the sense that we never think of the what if's & consequences when we wish for certain things & outcomes. Fantastic for many reasons .... here are a few: I loved the background we were slowly introduced to throughout the story. It intrigued me le...more

When I read the book synopsis, I was interested. The idea behind the book was appealing because it didn't seem like an overdone rehashed story - something that I've been encountering a little more lately with some of the books I've been reading. So I was pleasantly surprised when I picked this one up. The story was genuinely what it appeared to be and the book synopsis really is an accurate description of it. So another summary here isn't necessary. After all, how many ways can you say... Boy bu...more

I should hold my hands up here and say that I have never been a great fan of YA literature; or should I say I never 'thought' I could be a fan of YA; this huge assumption on my part, that YA is not for the likes of an oldie like me has ensured I could have missed out on some fantastic novels and stories that I would never have picked up in the past. Diana's novel Souled is one such, it is not something I would have picked up off the shelf, because "I never read YA", and what a mistake that would...more

First I would like to thank Diana Murdock for allowing me to be sucked into her wonderful world of writing. I would have never picked out a book like Souled, but I am glad that I had the chance to be able to read and review it. It was a new spin on a plot, buying a soul, that really made Souled an interesting read.

The first half is from Seth’s POV and you get to know him and his love for Dani, his loyalty to Justin, and the pressures that are rolling around in his head. He is, in general, a good...more

What will you do if you are promised power and control to get closer to the person you love the most. But then learn that this power and control would be the reason to break that love?

Let me say, the premise isn't new. However, It was told from the perspective of two very interesting couple, Seth and Dani. Seth is a 17 year-old, who wanted to get everything for his girl Dani. He might even risk inviting another soul to empower him for the sake of love. When he realizes how strong this demon has...more

Power and Control…

What 17-year-old boy wouldn’t be tempted by the promise of power and control - no matter what form that promise came in?

Seth knew exactly what he would do with power and control. He’d be well on his way to a wrestling scholarship, his dad could stop working so hard to make ends meet, and he’d forever have the heart of his girlfriend, Sandpoint High’s most beautiful girl.

For Seth, the temptation was much too strong to resist. And why should he? The way he saw it, he had everyt...more

Quite possibly the best YA I've read in a long time. I loved the change in POV from Seth, who is experiencing the worst demon possession a teenager could have, to his girlfriend Dani at the half-way point. We start out knowing, at least in part, who the demon is and how he's manipulating his host and then suddenly it's all taken away in the shift from Seth to Dani, which leaves us wondering exactly what the demon's fully realized plan would be. It was like knowing there was a ticking bomb somewh...more

At first look, Diana's Souled looked like a warrior book based somewhere in Scotland. Though a little bit misleading, the contents of the book took you on a roller coaster ride! And no, not in Scotland.

I didn't remember what the book was about when I started reading it. And sometimes, that's one of the things that keeps a book interesting. It makes a book a lot more surprising and less unpredictable if you avoid allowing the blurbs to cloud your imagination.

Souled began with a beautiful Poem....more

Isn't it funny how one little detail about a book will make you want to read it. What was it in this one? That fact that it's set in Sandpoint, Idaho. Most people probably have never heard of this little town in northern Idaho. But, I have several friends from there, so I jumped on it. I'm so happy I did!

This turned out to be a story that I wasn't expecting. Seth was a really great lead character. He's not perfect. He wants more than what he has. I never felt like he was ungrateful. It was more...more

Seventeen year old Seth is in a quandary over what to get his girlfriend for her birthday. While surfing the Web for just the right thing, he comes upon one of those annoying ads at the border of the screen for a soul in an online auction. And of course, being a seventeen year old male, he buys it for a dollar.
At first, aside from some pesky migraine like headaches and stomach cramps, he is happy with his purchase as he gains charisma, strength and insight into people's thoughts. But he quickly c...more

This was FREE on Amazon and got rave reviews, so I was excited about reading it. I guess I've read too many other great YA books to really think it was that captivating, though. The concept was intriguing, but I just didn't care about the characters enough to really get into it. High school jocks with big egos fighting over the most beautiful girl in school combined with paranormal activity. Meh.

This is one those books that held me in place for hours, I really felt for the characters and the situation that Seth got himself into innocently enough but none the less he became possessed by a powerful demon. This read had the thrills and chills in spades!
The love the characters had for each other was what brought them
through the storm.

I really did enjoy this book thoroughly:)

This book isn't typically the type that I pick up, BUT I couldn't put it down! The author does an amazing job characterizing Seth and Dani, and as a reader, you're rooting for them from the very beginning.
Without giving too much away...
By the end, I couldn't 'click' the pages fast enough. Gripping and intense.
A YA read, but I recommend for all.
Pick this one up when it's released, you'll be glad you did.

Souled, by Diana Murdock, is a slow burn seduction that follows the love story of two teens whose love is put to the test. And yes, there's some serious testing going on. Seth and Dani are wonderful characters and I loved shadowing their story, hoping for them. It reached a satisfying ending as well.

Very pleased with Souled.

I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of Souled and I loved it from the beginning. The descriptions and writing are clever, and some of them from the very first chapters are still with me. I also loved how even though it's YA, the story didn't contain all the drama I'm finding more and more prevalent in YA books. Yeah, there's the mean kid in school, but the interactions and the tension between the characters felt real, and not like an over-dramatized soap opera. The story was paced really...more

I was taken in by the synopsis but it didn't live up to my expectation. The plot development was too slow and the characters are 2 dimensional. The copy editing is good though, so there isn't the problem of typos, bad grammar etc., but I was bored and lost interest.

Maybe it was because it was the first time I tried reading a book online but I often found I had read a few pages without really retaining what was on the page and would have to skim to see what I missed. Overall, it was OK, but not memorable.

This was a fast read. I couldn't put it down and when I have finished, I kept thumbing through the pages to re-read some of the scenes again. This author's voice is wonderful, and her characterization is close to perfect. I have cheered for the characters all the way through, and not only for the protagonists, but also for the secondary ones.

I have read before another book by Ms. Murdock, "Again", which I liked a lot, so my expectations for Souled were already pretty high. The author did not di...more

This book is wonderfully written and a great start to this series. I fell in love with all the good characters, and despised all the bad characters. I will definitely be watching for the next book in this series.

Excellent YA paranormal romance with supernatural twists. Well-written and engaging. Diana Murdock knows her subject matter and writes in a most believable style. I highly recommend this.
