by
Victoria A. Hudson (Goodreads Author)

As an amateur writer on my first ever novel i am naturally trying to gain as much advice & knowlege as possible, as well as having a list of books that would be appropriately helpful and useful on writing. This book caught my attention immediately as it seems to include and cover everything; from notes, critiques, writing techniques ectetera and thus i thought that it seemed to be really helpful. I am looking forward to delving into this book for both pleasure and buisiness reasons, as it lo...more
This book would be helpful for anyone thinking of joining or starting a writing group, as well as for members of existing groups who want to keep their groups running well. It’s short enough that it would be easy for all group members to give it a quick read before meeting to discuss group guidelines and expectations. I’ve never belonged to a writing group, probably for reasons that this book describes, the main one being that it’s scary to put your work out there in the world to be judged, and...more
I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads. Thank you to Victoria for providing me with a copy.
The book provides a solid overview on how to choose, run and build a critique group. It's easily readable and organized, but occasionally could have benefited from going into more depth and including examples.
And I'm never going to agree that calling someone on an ism in their writing is applying an easy label.

It is very well written, clearly planned out and screams of being written with love and true understanding.
Perfectly sized, it doesn't over-do any one topic. Easy to pick up and read in small sections.
This book has really motivated me to get back into writing and i would love to be a constructive part of a writers' group in the near future.
Thank-you for an inspiring functional read. I won this book in a Goodreads competition and am thoroughly glad i had the good fortune to, as it's not somethi...more
It's definitely a book for new writers who haven't shared their stories with many people. There is a lot of fear talk which is helpful for new writers. It's a very short book and I felt like it could have benefited from examples. The passion of the author comes through and that makes the reading easier.
