I think these books get better as the series progresses. Shay and her two elemental sidekicks have to unravel a mystery of a strange sickness that has affected a couple young boys in town. Shayna has an encounter with what appear to be mermaids, only more vicious. They must call upon power greater than they ever have before to battle this new threat.

This is a 3.5 rating for me.

Shayna and her friends are elemental witches. They use the power of the earth, fire, and air to aid them in working their spells. I received this book as part of the YA Bound Book Tour. School has ended and they are all hoping that the excitement has died down enough to enjoy a relaxing summer. I received this book as part of the YA Bound Book Tour. School has ended and they are all hoping that the excitement has died down enough to enjoy a relaxing summer. While on her first day of surfing Shayna is drawn to the screams of a hysterical mother because she can't find her her son Toby. Shayna heads into the water to search and finds the boy was taken by mermaids, but they aren't your typical mermaids. There are the mermaids of nightmares and Toby said that they called him into the water to play. She free's Toby and returns him to his mother however she seems to have drawn the attention of the mermaids because while getting ready to leave the beach she can see them out deep in the water watching her.

Shayna tells Jodi and Steven about her experience with the mermaids who agree they should look into it because they would hate to have another kid go missing. They don't know much about water elementals because neither of them really are water, but Shayna would the closest since she can control all of the elements. Since they all lack the information they need to figure out what's in the ocean the trio heads off to do research. The girls drag Steven to check out the beach and even get him into the water to see if the mermaids call to him, even though he's not thrilled. Steven like the little boy is drawn deeper into the water as if called by the mermaids, thankfully he has the girls to keep him safe. The trio heads off to find out more about the creatures in the water. As the story progress more boys go missing return as if drained of life and sick with a unknown illness. With the threat in the water as well as the red tide that's rolled in no one is safe in the water. Finding out how to save the boys from the creatures in the water will test them all to the brink changing their lives forever. To save the two boys the trio will need the help of Debs coven of witches since the trio is elementals.

I'm a huge water fan after all I am a pieces so of course this book called to me more then the first two. Totally didn't see Shayna as the surfing type but I think it fits the story well, and gives a good reason why they are checking out the water elementals. I found it interesting that when it comes to research the trio resorts to fairy tales, I really liked that aspect of the book. I was a little disappointed to see the relationship with Jensen is slowly starting to fade away, he's such a great guy and I think Shayna needs him to help ground her. I like they have their little bookstore where they can be who they really are and find all answers elemental. I also like how different the elemental magic is to your traditional magical powers from books. I found book three so far to be my favorite it's action packed a little more on the darker side then the first one but I like that aspect of it more. Overall I really like the series but I love book three, except for the whole Jensen issue maybe it will be fixed in the next book.(less)

Since she isn't a hundred percent sure, she and her friends do a lot of research. Steven is very afraid of the water, but he tests it out, because he is the only guy in the group. When he steps in the water, he does hear their call. So it seems that the guys are being targeted since the females can't hear it. They lost their souls and don't have much longer to live. The question is, can their souls be placed back in their bodies inf the auras are missing? Can the souls be taken away from the beings in the water if if Shayna and the trio kill them?

This book was very interesting. The Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney movie. I didn't realize how different the movie was from the book by Hans Christian Anderson. That alone captured me. I was hooked from the beginning of the book. I had to see what was going to happen. The characters grew on me in this book. Jodi finally realized how she was treating her friends. She didn't realize what she was doing and she promised them to work on it. Shayna still worries too much. She seems to have to be perfect at everything. She hates asking for help, but in this book, she finally goes ask Deb for help. She is growing as well. Steven is still the same old Steven. His powers are progressing slower than the other two, but he doesn't let that get to him. I loved Jodi's new power in this book. Being able to control lightening is full of awesomesauce!!! The details Shauna used to describe this was beautifully written. I loved it!!! I also learned a little more behind Shayna's black wings. I also liked how there was a bigger battle in this book. It lasted longer as well. That was my favorite part out of this book. That took a surprising turn. I am very interested in seeing what happens next.

I am even more confused on the relationship between Shayna and Jensen. I think I am going to quit trying tot figure that one help. They seem to take one step forward, then several steps back. I wish their was more of a love story in this series. I love my romances. But it is still a great series!!!

Shauna seems to capture my attention more with each book. Her descriptions are beautifully written, and I can't wait to read more of her work. I can't wait to read the sequel Fire!!!!

Shay gets caught up in a fight with some dangerous sea creatures and as always has help from her two very best friends Jodi and Steven who are also teenagers with extraordinary magical powers. Together they must stop the the sea creatures before they drain the sleepy town’s souls one by one.

It's nearly 5 AM and I've just finished reading the third installment in the Elemental series by Shauna Granger. I have to say that at this point, Water is my favorite of the three I've read thus far.

Water is the third book in The Elemental Series. Oh man as this series progresses the stories get better and better. I just could not out this book down and at the end I said I needed more!

If you like elemental magic this is the perfect series for you. I have been reading this series from the beginning and it is so consistently good. I love how each book focuses on a different element. At first, I was a little confused because none of the three main characters are a water elemental. But I absolutely loved the plot line for Water. I thought it was super cool how everything was incorporated and it really made me want to read the original little mermaid story. I thought it was super cool how everything was incorporated and it really made me want to read the original little mermaid story. (and don't go jumping to conclusions thinking there are mermaids all over the place. You won't know the connection without reading Water :p)

Shayna just keeps getting stronger and stronger power wise, but the thing that I really like about her is that she never lets it go to her head. She is very grounded. (get it? because she is the earth elemental? haha) but seriously, she is the anchor for the three friends and I love their dynamic. They get into little fights, but they are good enough friends that they can call each other out when they are being petty and they can just move on. This was not the case in the first book. I have really enjoyed watching all the characters grow.

As you can tell from the title, this book deals with water creatures. There are tons of awesome fight scenes. I really liked that Shayna, Jodi and Steven could call on their elementals to heal themselves. So for instance, Shayna would bury herself in the earth and it would heal her. That was a pretty unique power to me that I have not seen in most witch books.

One thing that bugged me about Water was the relationship between Shayna and Jenson. Specifically, how she treated him. I just felt so bad for him. She never really let him into her life. I had the same problem in the last book too. I was dissapointed that he wasn't in Water too much and then at the end he kind of just faded into the background and we have no idea what is going on with him or what the status of their quasi relationship is. Jenson is just so sweet and loyal and I felt for him. I hate to say this, but if Shayna isn't going to treat Jenson better, then she doesn't deserve him.

Water is a great installment in the elemental series. The creatures are creepy and my favorite yet! I thought the story line (which I am not going to reveal to you) is super interesting and riveting. Magic lovers should check out Water and the elemental series by Shauna Granger. (less)

Got the first book free on Kindle. After reading it I then purchased the next books in the series immediately reading those also. Good books. Look forward to the last book in the series Spirit.
