Sibella is one of my all time favorite authors, and she proves why again in this novel. I love her attention to detail, character development, and suspense. All told with a deft hand. Poetic at times, heart wrenching at others, this one is another great addition in the Raleigh Harmon mystery series. Can't wait for more!
absolutely loved this debut read of Sibella Giorello's newest.

Enjoyed meeting the author, the protagonist and the supporting characters in a fascinating story. Lots of action, tension and conflicted relationships that kept Raleigh real in the midst of highly adventurous escapades.

One of my favourite discoveries in this intro to Sibella's writing is her excellent use of language ~ creative word selection added immeasurably to descriptions. Left me feeling the deficit of many recent books in my re

I read my first Raleigh Harmon novel, The Stones Cry Out, back in 2008 and have been eagerly anticipating the next edition each year since. The next in the series was The Rivers Run Dry followed by The Clouds Roll Away and then The Mountains Bow Down.

This year’s release is The Stars Shine Bright. In it Raleigh finds herself back in Seattle, in trouble with the FBI for breaking the rules. As an act of penance/punishment she is given an assignment that is outside the realm of the FBI. She has two

I preordered The Stars Shine Bright well in advance, because that's both a safe and advisable thing to do with a Giorello novel. Think about that when the next one is on deck.

FBI Special Agent Raleigh Harmon is back with perhaps the most complex challenge--professionally and personally--to her troubled career and life thus far. And that's saying something.

Someone appears to be fixing horse races at Emerald Meadows, Seattle's premier thoroughbred race track. Raleigh goes undercover as the niece o
pecial Agent Raleigh Harmon always seems to find herself right smack in the middle of TROUBLE! That is just one of the many things I have come to love about her! She is back from the Alaskan Cruise and is treading on thin ice in regards to her job. She is given an undercover assignment at a race track and hopes to regain her good standing! As if living a double life and trying to solve this crimes wasn't enough, her mother is in an asylum and isn't speaking to her.

Loved the latest one, but Raleigh Harmon STILL has things to figure out! Therefore, there have got to be more books, Sibella! We've got to get Raleigh's issues solved, and she eventually needs to solve the mystery of her father's murder.

I love Raleigh Harmon. She is so human, so imperfect, yet so gutsy, so determined, so smart and as Jack says, so tender. What a great character.

Sibella Giorello is a truly gifted author. She gets us inside the minds of her characters. I just wish she would hurry
I was thrilled with this book. It is the first time I have read this author. It will not be the last. Even tho I havent had a chance to get to know the heroine of this book, Raleigh, you can tell she is trying to make right some of the wrongs she has done. The relationship between the characters is just wonderfully complicated. I am looking forward to going back to read the others in this series.
What a fantastic series! I love this character. I know I read a lot of series & I'd be hard pressed to name a favorite but this is close to the top of the list.
I can always count on this author to write a good story! I like Raleigh Harmon!

Special Agent, Raleigh Harmon, forensic geologist for the FBI, is suspended without pay after mishandling evidence aboard an Alaskan cruise ship while on vacation with her mother. Her Richmond boss now wants a six-month disciplinary suspension that ends with potential termination. However, Special Agent in Charge of the Seattle office, Allen McLeod, sends her on an undercover assignment to Seattle’s Emerald Meadows with Special Agent Jack Stephanson as her case agent instead.

Raleigh Harmon is an FBI agent with a problem following protocol. She is a good agent and puts her all into her work, but the suits just don't care for her methods, and are putting her under a lot of pressure. In fact she is given a case and told she has two weeks to solve it. She has two weeks to learn the horse racing business. To learn who is fixing the races and who is making horses sick. Seems like it should be an fairly easy case, but that is where the issues begin. It isn't an easy case a

I liked this book well enough. The story was pretty good, but for some reason I didn’t really get caught up into it until about the last quarter of the book. The first three quarters weren’t boring or poorly written, I just didn’t really get into it. But the mystery of what was happening to the horses was enough to keep me reading until I got really hooked. I think part of that is because I am such an animal lover that I wanted to know what kind of sick person would be hurting animals, and what ...more

I had the privilege of interviewing Sibella Giorello, on our radio show “Kingdom Highlights”, for her new book, “The Stars Shine Bright” Book Five in the Raleigh Harmon series published by Thomas Nelson which takes Raleigh Harmon undercover at the race track.

The FBI has suspended Special Agent Raleigh Harmon for breaking its rules. Now, she’s offered a chance to redeem her career and restart her life.

The trouble is—it’s impossible. Sent undercover to a race track for thoroughbred horses, Raleigh is asked to determine why horses that are long shots are winning consistently, then start dying of mysterious illnesses. W

Raleigh Harmon [David] is fighting to save her job at the FBI. She is now undercover at a horse race track, where mysterious things are happening. Her Aunt Elanor [not really] is a wealthy thespian, and plays her role of Aunt so well, you will forget she is not really her Aunt.
It looks like someone is fixing races, and horses are being hurt and Elanor wants her to get to the bottom of things. Things are going from bad to worse, and Raleigh has one friend she can contact [he seems to there for he
Note: Let me say in advance this is very far from my best work in reviews. For some reason, I just could not put my feelings into words today. Gah!

Uh, Oh, It's a Series: The Stars Shine Bright is the 5th book in the Raleigh Harmon series, but unlike Widow's Might, there's very little crossover from the previous books. What you do need to know from the other books is thoroughly explained and incorporated into the novel. It can easily be read as a standalone (like I did).

What would you do to re-start your life and redeem your career?

Would you put aside your family - your mom who is in a mental institution and your new fiance - in order to go undercover to determine who is fixing thoroughbred races?

Raleigh Harmon is a Special Agent for the FBI, at least she is for now. After "bending the rules" to solve a case, Raleigh is in hot water with their internal affairs department (they want her fired) and under scrutiny with everyone else. Some don't believe she can be trusted to keep cases clean. There are, however, some who still believe in her. Will their support and Raleigh's ability to function well under pressure be enough to save her career?

his is the first Sibella Giorello novel that I have read. When I ordered this book, the plot seemed to incorporate a quality of exciting curiosity. I was interested by this FBI novel and wanted to see what a contemporary Christian fiction suspense novel had to offer. My expectations weren't set very high (I had never heard of Sibella Giorello before) but this novel sure did exceed the little hopes I had for it and then some! Raleigh Harmon's life is changing - and it's not getting easier. With her mom firmly ensconced in a psychiatric hospital believing that Raleigh herself was out to get her, she's no longer allowed to see her. Trying to solve the mystery of the sick horses may prove to be the easiest challenge in her life, however, as Special Agent Jack Stephanso ...more

In The Stars Shine Bright, FBI agent Raleigh Harmon is dealing with fallout from her last assignment. While waiting to hear what form of discipline she will suffer for improperly acquiring evidence during that case, she is assigned to go undercover and find out who is fixing races and making horses sick at the racetrack. Problem is, she only has two weeks to solve the case and hopefully gain some brownie points in her favor to counteract her past screw-ups.

My first encounter with a Raleigh Harmon novel I was impressed; the second encounter I was engrossed; the third encounter I was insatiable--I couldn't read the lyrical words fast enough while simultaneously dreading the speed at which I devoured the words drawing me closer to the end. I feel like I know Raleigh as intimately as a dear friend and confidant, partly thanks to the crisp and poignant first person narrative. She is a complex ch

I was pleasantly surprised by The Stars Shine Bright and how much I liked it. This is the first book I've read by Sibella Giorello, so I didn't know whether or not I'd like it and if my not having read the earlier "Raleigh Harmon" novels would affect my enjoyment of this book. For the most part, I don't think it did. There were a few things that I think if I wo

The Stars Shine Bright is a great Christian fiction/ mystery novel. Although it is the fifth book of a series, I immediately was engaged by Sibella Giorello’s ability to make the reader care about the characters. Raleigh Harmon is an FBI agent in a bit of trouble. She is being kept on a short leash because of past conduct, but has now been given an unorthodox, but tough case. Harmon has to discern who is fixing horse races and must work on a tight timetable. This case is not easy and quickly bec
First of all I want to let you know that this is not the kind of book I usually read. FBI books have never held that much intrigue for me. Sibella Giorello changed all that! This is the first book in the Raleigh Harmon Novel series and the first Sibella Giorello novel that I have read. At the start it was a contradiction for me. Some of the scenes where described in too much detail and my mind wandered, but then others needed the details and I appreciated the descriptions. As I read on though, I ...more
My obsession with crime solvers started early. At age ten, I was hooked on Trixie Belden. Eventually I moved on to other amateur sleuths—Nancy Drew, Vickie Barr (stewardess), Cherry Ames (nurse). Then I discovered the professionals. By age fifteen, I was the only girl I knew reading police procedurals and detective novels. A host of broody, conflicted, not-happy-unless-I’m-working crime solvers became my book heroes.

So I was predisposed to love Raleigh Harmon, the focus of five books by Sibella
