While this was at present, a departure of sorts for me because I used to read this type of paranormal genre a lot. So I was excited to jump back into sexy fantasy land of Angels and Immortals.

Haley our heroine is tired of her life. She is fat, frumpy, depressed, stood up and sex-starved when she decides to pray for a miracle. And much to her surprise her prays are answered.

Tah-dah!

Cue Ryder, half human half angel. He's a Nephilim, and he is here to help her see the beautiful sensual wo...more

6/12 - This could have been a five star book, except for two things - a complete lack of characterisation of Ryder and, after numerous sex scenes Hayley's constant refrain of "this is sinful, this is wrong, what would mother/Rachel think" got pretty tedious.

We learn almost nothing about Ryder except his name, the fact that he's not as good a fighter as his 'brother' Dillon and he's never met his father. We know everything about Hayley's life, family, likes and dislikes, but Ryder just feels like...more

So I had a look at what other people have been rating this book at and the majority of what I saw was pretty average. I'm not sure why, but each to their own. I have nothing but high praises for Karen Kelley and this fantastic book!

So where do I start?!?!?!

I absolutely adored this book. It touched base with so many issues that women internally battle with every day. The only difference with this is that Haley's prayers were answered by one smoking hot angel who's soul purpose for meeting her w...more

Cute premise but at times you will want to hurt the heroine.

Haley is the perpetual wall-flower who has been basically bullied her entire life. She's not too tall and is very curvy but not fat. Unfortunately she believes herself to be frumpy, ugly, fat, oh heck she just believes anything negative she can about herself. She is sooooo meek and suppressed that even the few times she has had sex it was in the dark with little to no playing. She gets embarrassed by anything and everything even saying...more

I enjoyed this story. The author had just the right mix of sweet and sensual to keep it romantic and not raunchy. I enjoyed Haley's character transformation, but at times she was irritating. I got a tad annoyed with the “I am so ugly and worthless” song and dance. When it’s made obvious the MC is NOT ugly I do not want to read her bemoaning her ugliness non stop.

Haley has the self worth of a flea about to be squashed. A lifetime of self esteem beat downs, and being compared to a fairer, younger...more

Thanks to the publisher, Sourcebooks, and NetGalley for the chance to read When There's A Will early! This is the second installment in the Good Girl Series. This is my first book by this author but, I have since added several of her books to my TBR list (including Where There's Smoke, Good Girl, #1.)

Meet Haley Tillman, a mixture of contradictions, her strict moral upbringing doesn’t allow her to express her true self. With a diary full of unfulfilled sexual fantasies and a prayer her life chan...more

Where There's A Will is the second book in the Good Girl series by author Karen Kelley. What girl hasn't wished for the perfect man? When Haley wishes for a man, she gets a half angel with sexiness in spades. Ryder is determined to act out Haley's fantasies and show her how beautiful she is.

I have to say that this book caught me by surprise. I didn't think it was going to be so great because everyone kept saying that Haley considers herself fat, ugly and unappealing. Women deal with this every...more

REVIEW: Where There Is A Will is a paranormal romance/ erotica story that brings us the sad story of a beautiful woman trapped between her insecurities and sexual taboo.

It all starts with a wish. Ever heard the saying, be careful what you wish for? Well that’s what happened to Haley. She lives a dull life, no boyfriend, one friend, a protective sister and overbearing parents. The fun starts once Haley’s wish comes true and it comes knocking on...more

Where There's A Will had a very weak start for me; one that bordered on the ridiculous and unbelievable at times.

Haley has just prayed to the heavens for a answer to her prayers--specifically a man-regarding the pitiful lack of sex in her life. She wants to get laid. She has been stood up the night before and self esteem has hit rock bottom.

Minutes later, her doorbell rings, and a sexy man sporting a black Stetson with a wicked grin stands on her front porc...more

Haley Tillman prays for a miracle. Actually she prays for a man; a hot, sexy, above mere mortal man. She’s tired of getting stood up and disappointed. Above all she really wants to get laid. Ryder answers her prayers. Literally! He’s half angel and half mortal; a Nephilim. Overhearing her prayers, Ryder decides to take action.

I want a guardian angel! Seriously, Ryder if you’re out there… Where There’s A Will is a hot, sexy read. Ryder is confident and so alpha. He pushes Haley out of her comfor...more

Haley Tillman is a woman who sees herself as a fat, frumpy woman that no one would want. When she makes a wish asking for a man who would like her for who she is, she never imagined her prayers would actually be answered in the form of a tall, dark and yummy nephilim, Ryder. Ryder see Haley for the voluptuous woman that she is and he's determined to make her see herself the same way.

This was a cute story with a very sexy Ryder bound and determined to show our doubting heroine that she is just as...more

A sexually-repressed, whiny twenty-six-year-old loan officer who keeps a journal of erotic sex wishes is adopted by a half angel/half human cowboy whose goal is to show her how erotically appealing she is. Sounds like the beginning of a joke someone would tell in a bar when half sloshed, right? But that’s the premise of Kelley’s second in a trilogy.

Because Haley isn’t fashion-model thin and because she supposedly is brainy, her mother and her lawyer sister Rachel have told her she’s ugly all her...more

WHERE THERE'S A WILL by Karen Kelley is overloaded with sex appeal, but lacking the emotional involvement. Readers looking for a super sexy read may love this erotic romance, but may not be completely satisfied with the journey.

Haley Tillman needs a man. Her quiet, timid life has gotten the best of her, and now all she craves is a nice roll in the sheets with a gorgeous man. Just as soon as that thought crosses her mind, her doorbell rings and on the other side of the door is a sexy cowboy. Ryd...more

Yes, I have a winner! I found another Must Have author. Where there’s a Will had me intrigued from the very beginning. It is part of a series/companion I don’t know how I would personally classify it as I didn’t realize it (I just hoped it would be)- till I was finished reading and Googled Karen hoping to find more of her books. It is part of the Good Girl series and is the second installation. It was both humorous and titillating- what more could a girl want? Mark it in your calendars-Where The...more

Haley is a gal in a small town who is stuck in a rut. She has no real social life and absolutely no dating life. She’s got an average 9-5 job, average looks but an above average imagination filled with hidden desires. For years she’s been the good daughter and the good sister but has secretly been keeping a wickedly naughty diary of her true cravings of sexual desires and lust. Unfortunately, with her low self esteem and semi-well-meaning perfect sister ke...more

Where there's a will was a great read! I wasn't sure what to expect from it, but was intrigued by the synopsis. An amazingly gorgeous angel who is not only easy on the eyes but answers prayers? Yeah...I was sold.

I was invested within the first few pages and found a soft spot in my heart for Haley. She is completely likeable and relatable. Unsure of herself due to other's around her, she is stood up by a guy she works with and becomes so upset that she prays for a miracle in order to help her lov...more

I have been sitting here for several minutes having just finished Where There’s A Will, trying to decide how I really feel about it. I read the book in one sitting so that has to count for something. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either. I thought there were some really great parts, but there were also parts that I just thought were completely…lacking.

I think the plot is fairly unique – at least to me since I rarely read anything involvin...more

This angel is willing to fall if it means helping her open up to the possibilities of life.

I was excited to get the next book in the Good Girl Series. I enjoyed Where There's Smoke and wanted to see where Ms. Kelley would take the series next. The characters are interesting and the plot is a fresh twist on angels. Ms. Kelley's writing flows well and drew me in from page one. This was a one-sitting read for me, which is a good thing. I loved this book. It was definitely an eye opener for me. The whole book is about a girl that has a horrible opinion of herself. Haley sees herself as an overweight, unattractive person with no sex life. She has a job that she loves but her "beautiful" neighbor covets her job and she doesn't see how she is going to keep it. She goes through an eye opening bit of lessons that show her that she has curves in all the right places and is actually a knock out, while her neighbor was a vindictive se...more

This book was one where the story line carried me. I loved the author's one liners and found her humor great.

But I found myself really confused by some of the character reactions. Some of the things the characters did, just didn't ring true, or felt rushed.

However, the story of a hot cowboy half-angel answering a woman's prayer for sex. Bravo on the story aspect.

The author also mixed up a whip and a flogger. Come on editors...seriously. There was a LOT of sex. A lot. Some of it did feel thrown...more

What we have here is a fantasy land of Angels and Mortals. Ryder a nephilim, who “hears” Haley’s prayer to be given a man. Basically she thinks she is a total loser, fat, unattractive, insert any bad self-image here. Ryder comes to fill her prayer and show her that she isn’t that at all and instead a beautiful and attractive woman. This is where things g...more

It is very rarely that I find myself not able to finish a book. If I'm not enjoying a story, I may set it aside with the intent to come back to it later, but I hardly ever just quit one. Unfortunately, I found myself giving up on this novel.

When I read Erotica, I don't just want to read about sex. I mean, that's great and all, but it's not enough. I want a plot. Without one, it's not that much better than porn. I only read the first hundred...more

It's all the same, sometimes, with love stories, they met, they fall in love with no reason at all, and then they stay together forever; the only difference this time was that he was half man/half angel and was answering the girl's prayer to get laid. It had to be a very hard job, that's probably why he quit...

Where There's a Will blurb intrigued me and the cover definitely caught my attention but the story was regrettably just not for me. I found myself continuing to read it in the hope it would get a bit more interesting but it just didn't. I thought the romance fell very flat and the main character Haley who was very insecure about her looks drove me mad. Normally I would really relate to this kind of heroine and would be 100% on her side but honestly, her constant negativity just plain annoyed me....more

Where There's a Will by Karen Kelley 3 1/2 stars

This is the 2nd book I've read by Karen Kelley. It's erotic romance but has a good storyline.
She really writes from the heart with touching moments and characters you can come to love.
I was disappointed with the ending which, although is an HEA had a twist I didn't care for.

Where do they make people like Haley anymore. I don't think I have seen I heroine that had self esteem so low ever, she was a lot on the needy side. That being said I really enjoyed this book. Seeing her come out of her shell with Ryder was a real treat and it was very hot and steamy along the way.

Karen Kelley became very adept at how things worked in the publishing world. You write a book, you mail it off, you get rejected, you write another book. She did this for six years until one day she talked her husband into mailing her manuscript for her. She couldn't take one more look of pity from the postal workers. Being the loving husband that he is, he mailed Bachelor Party to Hilary Sares at...more
